Pho, hemlagad. Händer ner den bästa vietnamesiska soppen i Twin Cities. Jag hade Pho med kyckling som protein. Ägaren / servern förklarade att sopporna sjuda i åtta timmar. Vackert tunt skivad kycklingbröst lägger generöst på en stor servering av riksmakad buljong. Inget falskt pulveriserat koncentrat går in i denna stolt lagade maträtt.
En måste ha maträtt helst men speciellt för alla som återhämtar sig från snifflarna.

Saigon har den bästa, färskaste chow mein i stan, till skillnad från alla chow mein du någonsin har haft. Glöm det gamla subgum chow mein som var gummy med mycket selleri och minimal fläsk. Saigons chow mein är en vietnamesisk version som överfyller färska grönsaker och kyckling. På dagen gick jag med selleri, morötter, ärtor och blomkål i överflöd, serveras över risnudlar med extra ris och en äggrulle (# 47 A). Det var så gott att jag planerade att ta hälften av det hemma. Men det var självklart så bra att jag slutade äta hela grejen! Platsen saknas i atmosfär men är uncrowded (till lunch, åtminstone). När jag är i grannskapet måste jag bara stanna och jag blir aldrig besviken.

När vi bodde i städerna, tillbaka på 70-talet, var vår favorit vietnamesiska restaurang Saigon Coffee Cup. Tyvärr verkar det inte existera längre. Men på ett nyligen besök i staden hade vi lunch här på en mycket kall aprildag. Maten var utmärkt. Äggrullar är stora och välsmakande. Allt var beredd färskt och kom till bordet rörledningar varmt. Jag hade också fläsk stekt ris som var underbart. Delar är stora och priserna är mycket rimliga. Innan vi lämnade kom kocken ut för att se hur vi gillade maten. Ett bra sätt att behandla kunder.

Saigon är min favorit vietnamesiska restaurang i städerna och jag får takeout med viss frekvens men den här helgen gick jag med min son och försökte något nytt: äggrullsallad! Det var ömtåligt! Två äggrullar ovanför denna hög med yumminess: supertunna vita risnudlar, stora basilika blad, morötter, halvrundar med tunnskivade gurkor, allt i en klar mysig sås (men jag upptäckte något som anis i det) . Min nya favorit på Saigon! Otroligt prissatta till $ 5. 50!

Om du letar efter vit duk, är detta inte det! Som sagt, maten är fantastisk och personalen är super trevliga och uppmärksam.
