We went to one of the best weddings in a long time at Cellar 222 and I'm already looking to book an event here. If you are looking for a space to host something, here is why you should consider Cellar 222: Affordability: 10/10 When I got home, I had to look at ways to book and I was blown away by how affordable the prices were! Compared to other venues nearby, it's nearly a steal. It's no wonder they have been around as long as they have! You can bring your own food and use your own vendors. Chairs and furniture are free! Need I say more?! Location: 9.5/10 Located in the Crossroads District, the urban feel gave the space the perfect atmosphere. There are a couple spots for photo ops, especially the staircase leading to the entry. Parking was ample but it is difficult to get to with traffic during peak hours. Bonus points for it being across the street from Manny's! Time to Chill: 10/10 I am big on energy and vibes and I must say the energy this place has says a lot about the owner. The website says the owner is low stress and we could tell! I immediately felt comfortable and welcomed. The happy couple opted for uplighting but it was not needed. The airy setup made for glorious natural lighting and with candles, it was perfectly romantic. There was a lot of people but it never felt overcrowded with the setup. Intimacy: 10/10 Downstairs in the cellar is where the ceremony and dinner reception took place and it was fantastic. For the ceremony portion, it was very intimate with the chair setup. We were encircled around the couple and the wedding party, which made it even more special to witness their vows. There was not a dry eye in the building. Overall: 10/10 This venue is a hidden treasure. It's a combination of Tuscany and big city with loads of romance. From the open, airy setup to the beautiful structure, there really is no need for decoration. I'm sad I did not get more pics but I'm happy I lived in the moment. I look forward to booking this space in the future.

I was supposed to be married at Cellar 222 in August. My fiancé died by suicide a month before our wedding. When I reached out to the venue they refused to refund anything. No sympathy, no empathy. Cellar 222 cared more about keeping my money than even showing the smallest act of compassion. I'll never forget how cold and transactional they were during the worst moment of my life. Choose a venue with a heart, not this one.

The space was magical. When I first visited I was in a rush and planning a last minute wedding. I had a handful of options to choose from and so I picked this space. I went back again and fell in love. Our event was near perfect. The space is charming and airy. We were able to have a band set up on the small stage. A lot of guests complimented on how how pretty the venue is. It's a hidden gem!

We decided to get married only months before our planned date and were excited when a friend referred Cellar 222. Our initial visit sold us on the beauty and unique aspect of the space, this is not your traditional banquet space. The venue was great, and Scott helped us out with each specific request and question along the way. They provided their own list of recommended vendors, and worked well with others we used. Guests repeatedly commented on the beauty of the location, and I highly recommend candles as a main focus for your design theme! They look incredible in the stone theme and are a low cost alternative to flowers. Also, we had a bag piper play and it was a great fit to the theme and worked well in the venue. Scott and Steve didn't bat an eye when we made this unusual request and supported us throughout our planning process. I recommend checking out the cellar if you're planning an event for up to 150!

To be honest, we selected this venue for two simple reason. 1) I didn't have to decorate.....the place is elegant and simple and lovely all at the same time. 2) Steve, the owner, was so chill. I was not a fussy bride and he was helpful but never pushy. His experience with events and people allowed him to read us as a couple and respond accordingly. I think that is his real gift. Plus, he was great at laying things out so it was clear and straight forward. Nothing is ever alarming for him. Our small wedding reception on 11/17/18 worked well at this venue. We did tuscan-style table setting and I liked the flow. I think it handles smaller crowds better in my opinion. Or it would be really perfect for a reception. I wouldn't hesitate to book here again. In fact, I'm trying to figure out what I can book next.

Beautiful event space and fantastic owner. We hosted a company party at here and had an amazing time. Highly recommend the catering Above and Beyond and Top Shelf bartending service. Steve was super easy to communicate with and make the whole event run smooth. Thanks!

This venue was the perfect location for our son's rehearsal dinner. The night of our event - We walked into the venue and were immediately transported to a warm, laid back atmosphere with our own music selections playing over the sound system. We had a cocktail hour upstairs with bar and appetizers set up there. Except for small centerpieces on the bar tables (bar tables provided by Cellar 222) and a couple of lanterns at the entry - we did no other decorating. The space just speaks for itself. After cocktail hour we headed downstairs and were further transported to a warm, romantic and relaxing dinner. We served 75 guests at round tables (provided by Cellar 222) that we set up around the perimeter. I initially worried about how this would flow and it was just perfect. The buffet was set up right outside the kitchen and we had a bar set up downstairs as well. There is no need for much decorating downstairs either. The ambiance downstairs is so romantic. I had lanterns and magnolia leaves on each table and a few on the fireplace mantel and that was it! The light from the lanterns further set the romantic tone. Just a warm, romantic, inviting space. Everyone mentioned what a great space it was. We were completed pleased. (Lanterns provided by Cellar 222 too!) The location is in the Crossroads and this is my favorite area in KC right now. There is a rooftop bar across the street and it is just a really cool area. Steve - I can't say enough about Steve. From the very beginning he was up front about costs, answered every email promptly and because I rented so early - allowed me to walk around a couple more times closer to the date to refresh my memory of the space. Super helpful with recommendations on caterers, bar tenders, coordinating security....you name it. I used everyone he recommended and had absolutely no problems at all! Highly recommend Steve and Cellar 222. You won't be disappointed!
