Cru is such a vibe. I came in for a late afternoon bite and it did not disappoint. I ordered the spicy pork tenderloin sandwich with fries and a side of tomato soup. The sandwich was seasoned perfectly and the fries were crisp and golden, just how I like them. The tomato soup leaned a little tangy but still paired well with everything. I tried both a red and a white glass of wine and both were great selections for happy hour. Stephen, the bartender, was attentive, welcoming, and had excellent recommendations. The service was spot on and really elevated the whole experience. The ambiance is warm and inviting with just the right balance between upscale and relaxed. Everything from the food to the customer service was excellent. I will definitely be back.

We decided to try it in Brookside area. Made reservations for Friday evening. We showed up and only 2 tables with patrons. That should have been our first clue. Promptly greeted and seated. Ordered drinks. One person ordered an Old Fashion. It came without ice and in the tiniest glass. Usually an Old Fashioned has 1 extra large cube. We inquired and waiter said ice was a $2.00 up charge. $2.00 for frozen water that should be standard. We conceded and ordered the ice. It never came. Order the Burrata and Heirloom tomatoes with Balsamic. It came and we all laughed. It was 1 tomato quartered. Zero Balsamic and dab of burrata. Ordered a 2nd Old Fashioned with ice. A glutton for punishment I guess. . This 1 came in a huge glass full of crushed ice. We all busted a gut. Can't make this stuff up. Two of us tried the Cru burger. Don't make our mistake. It is a double smash burger that came out dry and OMG the salt. We both said the same thing. Yikes. Not edible. The other two decided to split the red wine beef. It came out with about an ounce beef each. Not great. Service took our silverware after the app and didn't replace them. We sat with entrees waiting for someone to stop by so we could ask. We finally had to track down a server to ask for settings. I would avoid this place.

Went to Cru before seeing Mean Girls at Starlight (so yes this post is just a little late ). The cheese with grapes and olives was a lovely start. The menu didn't mention the olives but they were very much needed. The grapes alone would have been too sweet and one note. The briny olives brought the whole bite together. We also shared the green goddess salad. This salad is not for the faint of heart. The dressing is in your face with anise flavor. It is composed really well with dressing being placed between the leaves of romain. It went well with my dry bubbles. Then as entrees we got the risotto, pork, and fish. The sauce on the fish was very delicate and delicious. The flavors were very subtle. The pork was fried perfectly, the sauce could have used a little salt and a little thinning but flavor was there. The risotto was spring on a plate. All in good meal with two glasses of bubbles each only $10. The menu seemed a little bit all over there, but for a wine and app I would come back.

Great service and vibes, especially during the summer sitting outside! Must try: pork chop, steak frites, charcuterie board, extra dirty vodka martini. Have been multiple times and want to go back to try the tartare!

We tried this place for the first time to celebrate my birthday. Glad we made a reservation because it was full on a Thursday night. Instantly greeted with white table cloths, a lovely dining room with walls lined with wine bottles and a bar to the side. The dining room was filled with a diverse crowd from young to old, even a few babies. The hostess made us feel at home quickly and was engaging and helpful until our lovely server, Katie Kelly came by. We started out with spritz and an extremely flavorful appetizer. The main entree was incredibly understated but so delicious. Ended with a flourless torte. I can't wait to go back with friends for a great meal, great wines and service.

This is such a versatile spot! I came here for happy hour with a friend, but I could also see this being a great date night or celebration dinner. We split a ton of appetizers and everything was great, especially the caviar chips and burrata. The drinks were good, pretty standard. The service was exceptional. Our waitress was so friendly and always made sure we had everything we needed. I stopped in because this was a spot on my KC Daily Dine Card, but I will definitely be back!

Still not sure how I feel about my experience at Cru over the weekend. I had seen this hot new spot popping up on my social media and was so excited to try it out but I left feeling a little meh about the whole experience. We had a reservation for 4 on a Saturday evening and were sat right away. Our table was super close to another table-- so much so that every time a waiter walked in between our tables we were bumped into. No biggie just kind of odd. Wine selection was decent. Our waiter picked out two bottles of red for us and both were great. Food left me feeling disappointed. We ordered the wedge salad, charcuterie, steak & frites, pork schnitzel, and risotto. Flavors were lacking and uninteresting. Not sure what the food style or vibe is going for. Our waitress, Jennifer, was amazing and kind. She was the best part of our experience. Not sure I'll be back-- I have other places on my list that I'd rather go.

We went in a stood by the hostess stand for several minutes before we realized nothing was going to happen. Went up to the bar and stood there for a few minutes and finally someone noticed us. From that point on things were pretty nice. Exceptional charcuterie but the rest of the food was average especially for the price. Drinks were good and love the bartender. Overall, try it and see what you think.

Went to Cru for a girls night and had the best time! We had the most wonderful server (SO to Jennifer) which really set the tone for a great experience. She had great suggestions for both wine and food and didn't steer us wrong. Admittedly, I wasn't wowed by the food. Which isn't to say it wasn't good, just not as tasty as I'd expected. We shared a charcuterie board and loved the cheese selections. We had the wedge salad which was probably the most interesting thing we tried -- it was almost, spicy? Of the main courses, I think we most liked the mushroom risotto (and this is coming from a gal who doesn't even like mushrooms!) The presentation left a little to be desired but it was so tasty. We also shared the steak frites, which were yummy, and the ?schnitzel. Again, all tasty, just not as tasty as I'd hope. Certainly worth stopping in if you're in Brookside!

I went here for a first date. It was impressive. Such a clean and welcoming space. Elevated in feel and offerings. The dining area is cozy and the bar area is inviting. The menu has a variety of offerings and what we tried was delicious. Bartenders were professional and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back.
