I will HAPPILY recommend El Camino Real for a very authentic and quaint Mexican meal. Located in KCK, this spot is definitely one that pops up seemingly out of nowhere if you're not familiar with the area. Very unassuming. I think there's a healthy mix of wanting to enjoy authentic food but not wanting to stand out for not being from the area, so I was worried that the staff may make assumptions about my being there, but they were ultimately very lovely and the food was great. No margaritas...but then again perhaps that isn't the most authentic mexican drink I could have come up with. I will definitely be returning and hope to keep expanding my KCK horizons!

Come enjoy authentic tacos Al Pastor on fresh tortillas & amazing salsa! We always have kind and fast service, and the atmosphere is authentic with music and TV shows/sports. FYI: -no split checks on the weekends -two bathrooms, no baby changing station -parking on and off property

If you're going to eat tacos, you might as well go for an authentic experience versus the Tex-mex version. I can safely say that at El Camino Real you will find authentic Mexican street tacos. The tacos come on two corn tortillas with diced onions, lime slices, and cilantro as toppers. The prices are dirt cheap ($1.59 for a standard street taco, $2.50 for fish, beef tongue or "rajas" which is a poblano peppers & cheese taco). Everything about the taco itself was great: they were seasoned very well and the tortillas were very soft and delicious. The "rajas" taco was pretty spicy, so be warned. 5 tacos should be enough or a decent sized meal to fill you up. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars: I tried to go to the OG location on 7th street first: they had a sign in the door stating that it was closed for the day and we had to drive over it the other location which is 10 min away. Upon getting to location 2, waited a while to get service. It would help if you know some Spanish for interacting with the wait staff, though the menu is mostly in English. There was some confusion on my order and I got the wrong tacos, BUT they were good anyways so I can't complain too much. Overall, definitely give this place a try for yourself.

Worst customer service I think I've ever experienced! Ordered online, and when we got there they acted like our order didn't exist. Then they finally found the order after we stood there showing them the online order from our phones and they had the order sitting right there the whole time. Part of the order wasn't there, and we tried explaining what was missing and we just get a straight "no" in response. We didn't get the frijoles charros I ordered, so they got a free $3-4 out of that. Barely got the horchata I ordered, lady huffed and puffed that she had to make me a drink. Only reason I am even giving 2 stars is because the al pastor meat is good. Will not be back, very disappointed.

I ordered a simple el pastor burrito and my friends got the Flautas. The place has an amazing atmosphere and you can smell the love being cooked into the food from the moment you enter. It reminded me of the places down in Texas or over in California. The food is flavorful and everything you could hope for when looking for some food that tastes like it was made with care and love. If you told me these were someone's grandmas recipes I wouldn't be shocked.

I have decided to start doing a street taco investigation and a quest for the best place in Kansas City! I started today at the Camino Real and had their pollo with cheese street tacos. Hey, they did a great job. I liked the touch of a side container of chopped cilantro. The restaurant is a simple decor but the staff was extremely friendly and prompt. Spain's is the dominate language spoken but hey it is street tacos! If your in the area this is a great inexpensive place to grab lunch!

The waitress are money hungry. Every time I go out to eat I tip very well, I like to tip in cash and pay my bill with card. I left the cash tip in the table and proceeded to pay my bill with my card. The cashier/waitress very rudely stated the tip was not included in the bill. It was unnecessary, she wasn't my waitress and automatically assumed I didn't leave a tip.

I'm in agreement with the general 4-star rating assigned by my fellow Yelpers. El Camino Real (2) is yet another example of the solid Mexican fare to be found (though a few blocks away) along Kansas Avenue in KCK between 7th and 18th Streets. When there's this much competition you'd better be on your toes because there are plenty of solid options even within walking distance. Add a 3 minute drive and you suddenly have a dozen decent choices. We opted for the lunch special, 2 tacos + rice and beans. Went for the tripa and cabeza tacos, solid. Before the meal comes, chips, a bowl of onions, cilantro, limes and a very spicy red sauce that suggested hints of habaneros came out. While most KCK eateries eschew the chips and privately we wish they all did, not a knock on them. Service was polite and out of the way. Our waitress was not entirely comfortable with our first grade Spanish but we achieved success nevertheless. If you come: private lot for parking, plenty of Univision blaring, credit cards accepted. They have a beer license so if you desire a cerveza with your meal, it can be made so.
