Walked into the bar and was hit with a strong musty/moldy smell. Went to sit at the bar and obviously someone had peed around that area. Smelled of sort of cleaned. Decided to give it a chance and sat for a few Jamison & Gingers. The drinks were well made and priced well. But then I also noticed how terribly dirty the place is. Thick dust all over the shelves, walls, some bottles. Practically everything! I don't think iv'e ever been in a bar that is that dirty in my life. I'm amazed that the local health department hasn't shut this place down until they show they can keep the place clean for the general public. I felt like I walked into a unkempt haunted house. If they could give this place a good head to toe cleaning, it would really show it's appeal.

This proved to be a fairly good pre-concert stop for the nearby Uptown Theater. I liked the laid back, cool, helpful and attentive bar service (even though the bar area was full), the fairly strong $3 well drinks (served in a larger cup than the nearby Chez Charlie) and the relaxing atmosphere with eclectic music (not too loud). They also offered a $7 Blarney Blaster drink, which I did not try. The seating area included several TVs including one fairly big screen, Christmas lights, an electronic juke box, a pinball machine, three old style dart boards, and an inoperative payphone as an homage to a previous owner. On the downside, it's an old dive bar, smokers tend to congregate at the front door, I only noticed one bathroom (without a door except for the stall) and there was limited parking. Overall, A-OK.

Skip over this place and go to Chez Charlie. The bartender at this place is a grade a jerk. He is so judgmental. He judged me and my friends for the drinks we ordered and refused to allow us to play darts, even if we paid. The vibe is just so odd in there. Like i just feel unhappy and on edge. Feels like he could snap on you at any moment for doing something wrong but you have no idea how to predict what he thinks is wrong. I just wish I knew why he's so mean to everyone who is trying to support his business? He's local and we're local, let me spend money at your bar. It literally feels like doesn't want anyone's business.

Went there to join the Thursday dart league and play in a doubles blind draw tournament. Have been there a couple times before but the service was so bad we couldn't get drinks. So, we arrived and went to sign up for the blind draw and the owner kicked us out for "not spending enough money!!" How can you give good service when the place is pretty much packed, the bar was full enough you cannot get to it, and you only have one bartender on staff, that I saw. Needless to say they lost the business we would have given them and the dart league lost a whole team of four people, more business. Will never go back!!! The only reason it got one start is that none isn't an option to post the review!!

I love it. You love it. Literally the cheapest drinks in town. The Blarney Stone is a bonafide KC institution. Multiple dart boards, pinball sports ball on the TV and a jukebox. Some nights you can cut a rug with the best DJs in town. Check out the vintage newspaper file by the pay phone. And finally no dive bar would be complete without a smoking patio. Blarney Stone has it all. Catch ya there bub!

Stopped in to have a beverage while waiting on a friend to get her hair done. 2 other patrons. Was told to sit where I'd like but can't move barstools. No problem. Then told Missouri and Kansas City LAW states had to keep mask on, even between sips of my drink. Said there are places that interpret differently and headed to the door. Bartender calls after me "go to those carona spreading bars that are making us close at 10" Sorry to say I'll never go back. I'm sure they're ok with that. Sad that this situation is causing misinformation and confrontations when we should be working together.

Owner was rude and kicked my father and I for not spending money on drinks even though we have only been there twice to play darts and have fun.

We like the beer and the steel tip darts. We go there about a couple of dozen times a year. The place has gotten awfully dirty with hunks of dust and hair all over, and it's starting to smell like sewage (maybe it has something to do with leaving the mop and pail out by the bar). There is some decor that is problematic.

Well...I wasn't impressed with this place, but wasn't disappointed either. It's a genuine dive bar and they don't try to pretty it up since it's in Westport. They have some arcade games, jute, darts, cheap beer and a lively crowd who all seem to know each other. The bartender was nice, but yes, this place smells exceptionally bad, My partner said judging by the inside, he would never order food but never say never. Can't beat the beer prices and its only a few steps from my place, so I'll probably be back.

Hole in the wall shot and a beer type bar. I made this my home base during the St Patrick's Day parade. For a $2 cover I got access to clean bathrooms, warmth and friendly staff, They also had limited drink specials and apparently a band was going to play later in the day. The doorman took our cover and let us wander in and out at will. Friendly bar staff let us bring in food from outside, as they don't serve food there. It's not fancy, but friendly goes a long way.
