While I have not stayed at Hotel Kansas City, I am a fan of both Nighthawk (the basement bar / venue) and now, The Classic (the lobby bar). A friend and I stopped by The Classic for the first time earlier this month, on a mission to track down a snack, specifically: hummus. The bartender mentioned the recipe had been recently revamped, which must be an upgrade because it was the best hummus I've tried in a while. The texture was uniquely smooth and the hummus-to-pita/crudite ratio was perfect. Please keep this recipe and hummus on the menu :)

If you claim the name Hotel Kansas City, you're putting yourself out there as being one of the best. IMO, that's absolutely the case here as this is a beautiful, well-run hotel from the top down. Recently did a little staycation here because it's like a theme-park resort for adults; a fancy basement cocktail bar, a nice lobby and hotel bar, and a top-rated restaurant anchoring it all down. We never felt the need to get off the hotel grounds. Valet was friendly, and everything flowed nice and easily* (we'll come back to that), especially compared to some recent hotel stays I've experienced. The room has a beautiful, modern interior that also leans on the classic 1920's feel of the building. It's classy and comfortable all at once. The bed was super comfortable, and while we didn't get a view out our window, you're bound to when facing certain directions. If you're from out of town, it's nice to be so close to P&L and other walkable, vibrant areas downtown. One addition that I really appreciated was their nice coffee bar down in the lobby. They made some great drip coffee, and my wife loved her latte. It's like a real coffeeshop which again makes things so easy in the morning. The only drawback? I never got the receipt that was to be sent my way, and then noticed a sizable bill on my credit card. They had accidentally double charged me for the room, and I had to reach out to multiple people and provide quite a bit of effort to keep the conversation going. I really don't like having to deal with stuff like that as it drags out, but fortunately they were able to get it refunded a week or two later. All in all, a great spot and one I'd recommend to friends who visit out of town when they want to see KC show off a little.

I'm wrapping up a three night stay here in downtown Kansas City. This is a quality, well operated hotel. The staff have been very friendly and quite welcoming. I love the restored, preserved, and historically intact consideration given to the property. I feel a bit like I have taken a step back into time. The wood and tile features create a classical feel and architecturally, and historically rich ambiance. I'm someone that appreciates these efforts at preservation. Nevertheless, the property has updated, modern comforts, that provide a comfortable hotel stay. Valet parking is available and the staff are pleasant and helpful. I didn't avail myself of the hotel's food and beverage facilities, but they appear to be quality options. The immediate surrounding area has a plethora of some significantly superb restaurants to choose from. The immediate surrounding area seemed safe to walk around and explore.

The Hotel Kansas City is under the Hyatt umbrella, our favorite large hotel company. This is a very unique building built in 1920 for the Kansas City Club, a men's club. The location is fantastic if you are going to an event at the T-Mobile Center or the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. It's also right next to the Kansas City Power and Light area, which has multiple restaurants and bars. I've stayed here three times. The first time we had a loft, a two-story room that was unbelievable with a two-story window with a great view of downtown KC. The other two times were normal hotel rooms. HKC gives you four bath towels, so many hotels give you 3, sometimes even just two. The design of the rooms is unique. They look more like how you would like your house to look. The bathroom is very nice with attractive quartz, and the painting is unique with some walls being black and some white. The walls also have something like crown molding going through them and even across the ceiling in spots. It really is neat! The toilet in the bathroom is separated from the shower with its own door. The one bad thing is the water pressure was very low in the bathroom. The beds are very comfortable with four pillows for each queen bed. The central air conditioning was fantastic and so much quieter than hotels that have a separate unit in each room. The bar on the lobby floor is great! We have yet to visit the live music venue, but we have heard it from a distance and it sounds great! This is now our favorite Kansas City Hotel and it is where we stay no matter what part of town we are going to be visiting.

Stayed at the Hotel KC when we visited for our annual Big 12 Tournament trip. The staff was excellent all week. I don't think I ever opened the front door, someone always was there to greet me. The rooms were updated and comfortable. The lobby is decorated and aligned to the history of the building. They had an artist painting, a night club in the basement and a great selection of spirits in the bar. It was a great location for tournament activities but didn't have a tournament vibe.

1) sink was clogged in our room which was a very small room, they tried to fix it but the smell was horrible & put us in new room which was a nicer bigger room. 2) elevators are very slow 3) when checking out they charged us for 2 cars when we only had one car 4) man at front counter this morning was not very pleasure & had a smirk on his face when we talked about being charged for 2 cars. 5) had to ask for clean towels every day & toilet paper & coffee. 6) when we arrived no one told us about the little elevator to bring luggage from street into hotel only told us that when we left I'll stay elsewhere if I need to come back to Kansas City

Amazing historic hotel. My grandpa worked here! It's beautifully restored. The lobby is intriguing. I had to wait 30 minutes for my room to be ready because I arrived early. I had a lovely conversation with the bartender while enjoying a superb glass of rosé. They upgraded me to a suite. Every fixture, painting and piece of furniture was well appointed.
