This restaurant is next door to the Cajun restaurant, Jazz. They use the same kitchen and have identical menus, including the incredible discount on oysters on Thursdays. But the dining rooms, histories, and seating are very different. Jimmy's Jigger is a very old historic bar with photographs on the walls about the history of the room. Also they have very comfortable booths. Jazz does not have booths. Jazz has live music some evenings. Jimmy's Jigger does not. Considering the history of Jimmy's Jigger and the comfortable booths, you might think that many diners would prefer Jimmy's Jigger to Jazz. But at present, almost all of the business at Jimmy's Jigger is takeout. When I was there, I was their only dine in customer, but there was a lot of takeout business. I asked why. The server explained that during the pandemic and until very recently, Jimmy's Jigger offered only takeout. Dine in customers had to go next door to Jazz. That works very well for me. I get great service as their only dine in customer. Tonight I ordered a dozen oysters, stuffed mushrooms, and sweet potato fries. I also got two glasses of their house red wine. So don't tell anyone that the son of the original owner of Jimmy's Jigger has bought it, and they now have dine in services. I like having all that service for myself.

First time in a long time here, this place is awesome!! Very nostalgic feeling here. It's finally back in the family, not upgraded to something it's not. However it is connected to Jazz restaurant. Stepping back in time as you enter the place. The service is awesome and very personable. The walls are lined with memories and very cool pictures!!! Across from KU Med-center. Will return soon!!!!

"There is not enough sauce on this!" said the diner to the waitress. "Their will be a lil extra charge, if you would like me to get you some more", replied the waitress. "NO! I want what I paid for, the sauce should be covering the chicken and the rice, it's barely on the chicken!" Chicken A la Mer, it's the stuff of legends, well at least a Jiggers house specialty worth fighting for. When dish is A la Mer it means it will be smothered in a rich Cajun spiced cream sauce filled with pieces of fish, shrimp, crab and lobster. Most of the time it's what I order on a visit that and a Cajun bloody Mary. Speaking of which is 3.50 during happy hour from 3-6 pm and than again from 11 pm to close. As far as happy hours go it's personal favorite. Many of the appetizers will list a HH price as do a few select drinks. At this point I'll reference the fact that Jiggers use to be Louisiana Jazz Kitchen but as far as I can tell that's about as far as the change goes except for pool table that no longer is available. Still live music on Saturday nights, and to the handful of times that I've gone the place was packed and the music good, sometimes ok but never bad. Even though it's divey I still think it's a really unique fun date option. You and your date can even mark the occasion with a personalized message with a sharpie, many have done so, on almost every square inch of the place. Parking lot in the back which is really important for west 39th street, but that also means it fills up fast.

Classic Dive Bar. When Jimmy died, Jazz, which was located behind it, bought the space, left the sign on the door, and left the downstairs bar the comfortable quiet dive that it remains to this present day. Stop by for a quiet drink sometime, or a louder one on the weekends :-)

This place is a fantastic shit hole. Service and beer selection are fantastic. Live music was fantastic. Then comes the shit hole. It's definitely a dive bar, with a trough urinal for the boys and sticky things all over. If you get the weebie-jeebies easily you'll want to find somewhere else to go to.

Worst experience here ever! We will never be back. That was not catfish & whatever it was was not even cooked right. Even the hush puppies were cold. We complained then bartender brings us microwaved hush puppies. When we complained bar tender was more interested in eating her pizza than trying to apologize or acknowledge that our food wasn't right. She offered to get the manager but by that time we were ready to leave ASAP. They weren't busy at all and food & service sucks. Then the bartenders want to be smart asses on the way out! We are good tippers & I yelp positive reviews for places that have good food & treat me right. This place doesn't have either consistently. We will tell our friends not to waste their $ on this place.

We usually love this bar, but last night was awful. We came in to watch the final men's NCAA basketball game.. the sign out front reads, "march madness," but the bartender didn't like that we asked if we could have the sound on. He said "you guys know basketball sucks, right?" So not a good start. There were two other people in the bar (there were 4 of us) Next, my boyfriend orders a second beer. A couple minutes later, I order a beer. He asks if there's anything else he can get us so we can stop ordering one thing at a time. Sorry to have interrupted him from leaning on the bar on his phone. Okay, getting worse. My boyfriend buys the tab at this point and tips 50% thinking we were leaving. We decide to take a round of shots before leaving and order shots that are half one liquor, half another liquor, and a backer. He heckled us for ordering complicated shots. He looked at my boyfriend and told him he should order shots because he is the man. I said, wow, no I ordered the shots. He said, " oh, I see who wears the pants." So I said forget it, gave him my card... he said no, I'll make you shots... I said no thanks just tab us out. My boyfriend told him he was sorry he tipped him so well since he was a total prick. My boyfriend walked out... I apologized that my boyfriend said what he said, but Ethan responded with, "tell your boyfriend to go watch some more Gilmore Girls." I work in a restaurant. I've never had someone be such an asshole to me and my friends for no reason. We will be back only when we know the other awesome bartenders are working. Seems like Ethan had some other things making him mad. Maybe train him on not being an outright prick.

Jimmy is so playful I especially like to play with jimmy's jigger ;) if anyone wants to get funky i recommend playing with Jimmy's jigger it is very playful.
