La Botana is basically two businesses under one roof. The restaurant on the east side and the ice cream / snack shop on the west. They have seperate entrances but are connected inside. I stopped in for a snack on a mid afternoon Saturday and after having a bit of a language barrier, I ordered a cup of "dusted" elotes. For $7 I received a 16oz cup of canned corn in a watered down buttery broth with the obligatory cotija cheese and then a layer of Flamin Hot Cheetos for the "dusting". To get to the corn, you have to dig a little or stir it up - big mistake. As soon as the Cheetos mixed with the broth, it became a disgusting paste that absolutely ruined an overpriced cup of non-grilled nor roasted corn straight out of a generic gallon can. Four bites in and it went into the trash can. The worst $7 I've spent this year. I won't destroy them for one dish since the place is kinda cute with several instagram ready photo scenarios. I'll generously round up to 3 stars since they are new and I only had one snack. I'll return and try the restaurant menu and adjust accordingly if they redeem themselves.
