Please eat these bagels, I don't want to go back only having 1 decent bagel option in a major U.S. City. I would "make a the 5 stars" and not water it down with an inane review if I could. Also, why is it acceptable for Panera and Einstein Bro.s to just hack at bagels like Norman Bates in psycho just because it's the Midwest? The physics and geometric torus figure are the same as bagels anywhere else. Your average 'sandwich artist' hits pretty close to center 90-95% of the time. But at least 2 in a dozen are gonna get a pretty disrespectful 75 degree glancing blow? Anyway, this place does none of that. Dead center every time I've gone. On top of that, they're good, "real" bagels. So if everyone would just agree we need to buy these bagels so as not to embarrass ourselves at a civic level with our limited bagels options I think that would be great. Was the breakfast bagel delicious? Absolutely. Was it wait 20 minutes in line and another 35 in the parking lot delicious? Unfortunately, no. This small bagel shop clearly has a loyal following--the line was out the door when I arrived. The staff were hustling and doing their best, but the operation just couldn't keep pace with the demand. Wait times stretched to about 40 minutes for a single sandwich. The bagels are definitely worth a try, but a more efficient system would make the experience much more enjoyable.

Luca Bagel is the newest addition to the Brookside area. When we arrived, the shop was already buzzing with traffic, so we hopped straight into line. Although no one greeted us right away, we're able to place our order within about 8-10 minutes. Here is what we ordered and how I would rate it: *Cheddar Serrano Bagel 5/5: The bagel was pretty huge, fluffy inside, and the amazing smoky flavor from the cheese added with the jalapeños gave it just the right kick! *Scallion smear 5/5: Very creamy with just the right amount of scallions. Not super overpowering, which I LOVE! I'm pretty sure the bagel with just the scallion schmear would've been satisfying on its own, but I added turkey bacon and egg for the full experience. While the add-ons weren't anything extraordinary, they did enhance the bagel and since this is one of Kansas City's first Jersey-style bagel shops (that I know of), I couldn't resist. The wait for our food was around 30-40 minutes. While the ordering process was fairly quick, many customers were waiting on their orders (those who ordered online as well as inside of the store front), which explains the longer pickup time, but it definitely added to the wait time. That said, the bagel paired with my choice of schmear was worth it! The inside of the bagel was perfectly fluffy, the flavors balanced well, and even though there weren't a ton of ingredients packed in, it was absolutely still delicious. Although it was a bit unorganized and the wait was longer than expected, I still think Luca Bagel is a great addition to the neighborhood and to Kansas City area. I'll definitely be back once they've been open a little longer, as it seems they're still attempting to find their rhythm and learning to manage their storefront.

Bagels I've been going through lines of untold length to get since they first opened their pop up at the Overland Park farmers market. Easily the best around, their sandwiches are also some of the best breakfast food you can get period. My Thursday tradition is to get a #1 with bacon on an everything bagel, it's just that good.

Amazing breakfast sandwiches! There's a reason why people line up at the Overland Park Market. The bagels are delicious and moist/dense/chewy, not your standard dry bread that requires toasting to make a quality sandwich. The breakfast sausage was high quality and not greasy. Definitely would recommend checking this place out.

I heard great things so I decided to stop in. I would highly recommend getting there early because you'll probably be waiting in line. It took about an hour from when I got in line to when I left with food in hand. So plan accordingly. The shop itself is small but there are a few tables. It was pretty crowded in there so I would have a backup option in case it's too packed to actually eat there. Everyone I interacted with was friendly despite being super busy. I decided to try the #1: sausage, egg, and cheese with sriracha mayo and hot honey drizzle. You can choose your bagel and I went with the Asiago bagel. This sandwich was delicious. Everything had a really good flavor and was super fresh. The bagel had a nice chew. I'd definitely order it again and I highly recommend it! I also decided to try a couple bagels with cream cheese. My go to is blueberry so I went with a bagel and cream cheese in that flavor. Both were really good. Again, the bagel had a great chew and the blueberries were plentiful. I really liked the cream cheese too. They were also advertising the pretzel bagel pairs with a beer schmear made with their neighbor BKS artisan ales. So I had to get one. Again, it was a home run. I was skeptical at first but the flavor was great and won me over. Definitely stop in!

Apparently Kansas Citians love a great bagel. This new bagel spot has only been open a few weeks and the line was nearly to the sidewalk. No exaggeration. Luca Bagel has replaced Mattie's in Brookside which is sad. The service is friendly but not very quick. I went on a Saturday morning and I guess everyone else had the same idea. Tip: if you go on the weekend be prepared to wait about an hour: 40 minutes in line and 20 to get your order. The menu is solid - offering sweet and savory bagels, breakfast and lunch Sammie's. They even have gf options. My friend got a #1 with a plain gf bagel sub sausage for turkey bacon. It was filing and delicious. Pricing is reasonable if you get a bagel and schmear. Although a good size, I think the sammies are spendy. In addition to bagels, they have coffee, juice, water and cookies. Cute inside and very limited seating. Tip 2: plan to park on street - the lot is one way and fills up fast if line is out the door. I personally don't think it's worth the wait but apparently I'm in the minority because everyone else does.

Was super excited to try Luca Bagel after hearing all about it! We decided to try the #1 sausage egg and cheese on the cheddar serrano, #7 pizza bagel on pretzel and cinnamon raisin bagel with the blueberry schmear. The line to order was long but went quick, the wait was about 30 minutes on a Saturday morning but worth it. The staff was very friendly and efficient! It got a little tight inside with everyone waiting for names to be called so I do think some sort of text or microphone system could benefit in the future but not a bad problem to have - very much a grab and go atmosphere rather than eat inside. Super tasty and can't wait to come back!!!

The amount of bagel options alone, along with your choice of smear means that there are so many different you can customize your sandwich to you liking. This is more of a grab and go spot, but there are also a few tables if you want to enjoy it right then and there. I have only good things to say about the #2 and will definitely be back to try something else!

So delicious! Great new addition to Brookside. I got the lox bagel and it was soo delicious. Will be coming back to try new smears and bagel types. Has indoor seating, or can sit on the curb outside. Workers were super kind and gave us recommendations on what to pair with what bagel. Loved it!
