Attention please, I have an announcement: Ralphie has a new favorite watering hole and it's The Commons! What is not to love about Cinder Block's latest addition. The place is banging hard on all the things that I love. Food - they have rented a space to Bay Boy - the best sandwich shop in town. That will be a seperate review ;) Drink - A varied menu of specialty beers brewed just for this space from the parent company, plus a select variety from competing breweries around town and a perfect cocktail menu utilizing spirits from local distilleries. I ordered a $4 "mystery beer" and received the best bargain of the week -a 20 oz can of Kolsch from Grandview's Transparent Brewery. I then had a perfect little margarita. Staff - I interacted with 2 bartenders - one was above average, and the main one was nailing the customer service! Pleasant, informational and proud of his workspace and product line. Activities - EVERY type of old school bar game is here - pool, foosball, air hockey, shuffleboard, cornhole, pop-a-shot, darts, skeeball, and plenty of tabletop games...and they are all free! With a nod to the National Parks in decor and actually donating a small part of the profits to assist our nation's treasures in this new era of asinine budget cuts and selling off of public lands - I'm proud to support local, have fun and assist the cause. Our group of 5 had a blast. Five stars on every single measurable category.

My husband and I m loved our time here and will come back soon! We went on a thursday during lunch time. Bay Boy has some of our favorite sandwiches in kc, so we were happy to see them in the northland! The bread is super unique and every sandwich has special flavors. The gobbler is my favorite, bay boy is my husband's, and the seasonal ones are all delicious. The commons pale ale and lager were awesome beers! They weren't too heavy and were great for a chill afternoon. Prices were fair and there was a good variety! The bartenders were extremely kind and helpful with us making decisions. There is a big open space that you can use lawn chairs and tables on and have a more relaxing time with a group of friends. We brought our 2 month old with us and felt extremely welcomed by staff. There was another couple with a baby in a carrier as well, and felt very family friendly during the day. In the evenings it is 21 and over. Also, they have a basketball shot game and skee ball! Super fun touch!

The Commons is a neighborhood hangout attached to Cinder Block Brewery featuring free billiards, yard games and arcades. They recently opened and I've been able to visit a couple of times. The staff members have all been fantastic. The space is pretty large with lots of seating-bar, tables, lawn chairs, and even swings. They offer lots of games-skeeball, pop a shot, darts, arcade games, bags, Tetris, air hockey, table shuffleboard, pool, and lots of others. You can definitely keep yourself occupied. They offer beer, wine, cocktails, and seltzers. Drink prices are reasonable. I've tried a handful of cocktails. Some of my favorites are the Park Bench-a refreshing gin beverage, the Vista Pobloma-a spicy twist on the Paloma, the Mt. Tiki-sweet and fruity tiki drink, and the Fresh 75-light and refreshing classic. They do have specials on some of the beer but honestly the cocktails have been so good that I haven't made it that far down the menu. If you're hungry, they have Bay Boys on site. Expect the same sandwiches that you know and love. If you haven't had a sandwich from Bay Boys, I highly recommend that you check them out. The bread is unique and delicious. My favorite sandwich is the Crown Town Club but you can't go wrong with The Bandit or an El Jefe. They have a walk up window that you can order from and then you'll get notified when it's ready to pick up via little buzzer. One thing to note, it's 21+ after 6pm. Children that are accompanied by a parent are welcome to grab food/drinks from the Commons to enjoy at Cinder Block after 6pm. Definitely check out this new fun spot in NKC!

Stopped in The Commons on a Thursday to grab a sandwich for lunch. Loved the atmosphere so much I brought my husband back the next day. Of course the Bay Boy sandwiches are fantastic. A very no fuss way to get a great but simple bite to eat while having a beer and playing a few games. Had a chance to sample the Commons Lager and Pale Ale. Both great beers for a hot summer day. Everyone from the bar to the sandwich window were very nice and welcoming. I love that you can bring the kiddos here during the day but then it's 21+ after 6pm. My family and friends will definitely be back.

Stopped by the commons for the first time with my family. It is connected to Cinder Block brewing, but has a bar that offers cocktails and bay boy! It is a fun space with yard games and some arcade games as well. Bay boy and the cocktails were delicious! Definitely a fun, new spot

Super family friendly but make sure to check the hours. After 6pm is 21+ They have arcade games and multiple bars to order from. Lots of indoor games. Great for groups. They have sandwich shop inside. I'm excited to go back and have a sandwich.

The commons is a new place attached to Cinder Block Brewery. They have a bunch of different game options, video games, pop a shot, corn hole, pool darts etc. We were just there to have lunch and a couple of drinks but the atmosphere and games are done really well. I had the Bandit and my Wife had the El Jefe from Bay Boys. Both were excellent. The staff was super friendly and made some good recommendations. Great selection of local craft breweries and you can go back and forth between the Commons and Cinder Block with is nice. Overall an outstanding experience.
