Clean environment, decent fast food, nice staff, good prices. Family business. It's a good standby place to go, if you don't know what you want for lunch or supper.

We ordered the chicken tacos, chicken enchiladas, and a chicken burrito. And some cinnamon crispy dessert. The service was good. They use ground chicken, the flavor isn't bad but it's SO dry. The rice has too much going on -I think they use enchilada sauce in their rice because it's dark red and kinda smokey, not in a good way- the beans are not anything to write home about. The enchiladas were small and had nothing but the dry chicken inside with like a tablespoon of enchilada sauce and sprinkle of cheese on top. The best thing was the crunchy tacos and even then, they aren't even as good as Taco Bell. The dessert smelled really strange. We only took a few bites of everything and tossed the rest. A shame to waste the money but it really just wasn't good. Save your money, try another local place.

Terrible experience here. I ordered nachos and a bean and cheese burrito. The beans on the burrito had no flavor at all as if they had came straight out of the can. I watched them add beans and shedded cheese in a tortilla, then put it in a microwave. The nachos were just cheese and chips and they skimped on the cheese big time. Chips came straight out of the bag and weren't warm at all. This is more of a Tex-Mex place than actual Mexican.

Been going here for years and love this place! Cozy down home feel and great food always warm and fresh along with great sauce mild and hot! The owner is the best ! Can't imagine Raytown without this place! Please sell it to someone nice that will keep your secret sauce going when you retire! It's my favorite fresh food clean Mexican family Restarant!

The only thing that I would come to this place for is the nice staff and clean environment. Other than that, you'll spend the same amount of money buying an entire pack of frozen burritos from the store, which is essentially what you're getting. I came here fairly often with my old construction crew and left disappointed each time. Seriously, all they do is heat up frozen burritos and other Mexican food in a microwave and serve it on a styrofoam plate. For their price I'd rather have Taco Bell.

Carlito's is on 63rd and Woodson, in the same strip mall that Big Mamma's used to be, before they moved to Crown Center. What can I say about Carlitos? Affordable Mexican Food kind of fast. For 1.25, you can have a taco, and they are top notch. Buy a drink, and the taco is only .69 cents. Nightly.. But my favorite are the platters. The platters usually are burritos, or chimichanga, or enchiladas, with beans (that doesn't taste like dog food), and Mexican rice, that I always want more of. The most expensive platter is only 6.65. You also get a drink. They don't have beer, but do have fresh iced tea, and all the basic sodas. The taco and enchilada sauce is not too hot or too mild. When you order it to go, they give you a little container with a lid of taco sauce. The cheese is not meh, but it's good. Everything I've had there is good. They have a mediocre dining area, it's painted darkish red bricks, with sparse Mexican decorations. They have 2 employees working (cooking), and often one at the counter. They are personable, and pleasant. I often call in my order, and go and pick it up. Carlito's is a basic Mexican restaurant, with good food that's served pretty fast. They make it at the time you order. They are a neighborhood restaurant. A good addition to Raytown, which seems to be missing interesting places to eat. Go ahead and give them a try.

The manager or the owner that works the front counter is extremely impersonal always looks angry, and looks like he really does not wanna help you out, and the service is just awful, When I went in there to go eat he just stood there and looked at me for about 10 minutes before even acknowledging me, food is mediocre at best not worth the price. Way too expensive for what you get. No value.

Microwaved Mexican food is not good. The only way I was able to choke down my disgusting meal was to cover it in hot sauce. If you have a microwave you can find better options in the frozen section at the apple market across the parking lot. Don't do it.

Carlitos is a great place for quick Mexican food at affordable prices. The customer service is always great too. I really appreciate the friendliness of the staff. The tacos are great, but the quesadillas are quickly becoming my new favorite. The salsa/taco sauce is really good too. I prefer Carlitos over other similar cheap Mexican places like Taco Via or Tortilla Jack's.

In the Winter time, I'm all about comfort food, so I tend toward places that feel comfortable and have pleased me in the past. Carlitos Mexican Food fits that description perfectly. Carlitos is an unpresuming, laid back kind of place. And it has the added bonus of being very handy to our house. The owners, indeed all the staff, are always friendly and welcoming and the food tends to hit the right spot for Hubby and me. Of course, we generally still have to have the tacos, but this Winter, I've been mixing it up by also ordering their Tamale topped with Chili in addition to the tacos and I seem to be craving the soft tacos over the crisp ones. One of Hubby's favorites is the Carlitos Burrito with cheese sauce or some of the Enchiladas -- beef or pork are his first and second choice. Carlitos Mexican Food isn't "fancy" dining, but by being consistently good they have earned a Happy Shout Out from this satisfied customer! And they are making Winter a little more tolerable for me, as well.
