Only food is chips and nuts but the bartender is awesome and the place is a little hidden gem next to laundromat across from the old train station in Helena. Looks almost like a dive from outside but once you walk in they have a fantastic selection of fine spirits and a few good beers on tap along with a whole section of slots and gambling but it has a great atmosphere and feel inside. Just light enough and just dark enough and if I lived in Helena I'd be there all the time.

Doesn't even deserve 1star. The bartender Luke was the rudest jerk I have come across in my lifetime of 67 years. I had asked him if he had root beer schnapps in which he had replied "yes". He gave us peppermint instead. I told him I didn't order that and he said that I did and that's what I said. I hate peppermint! I asked for our money back as they didn't have it. There obviously was miscommunication, he told me to get the "f" out of the bar and if not, he was calling the police. My husband asked him what we had done, Luke wouldn't answer him. He was violent acting! He grabbed our beers that we hadn't even took a sip out of, called us MF and to get the "f" out. We felt harassed and embarrassed. I had a Haps hoodie sweatshirt on at the time which I am burning. He doesn't know a thing about customer service. He could've handled that situation differently, like offered something else instead but didn't. UPDATE: After a night of no sleep, I called Brent the owner the next morning to talk to him about the incident. He was very understanding and empathetic. He would speak to Luke and ask him why the situation escalated to anger over something so insignificant. He told us to come back in and he would make it right. I definitely will. I love this bar, have been patronizing this bar off and on since the late 90's.

Great bar. Friendly bartender (Dean) and patrons. Few local beer selections on tap and many spirits selections. Clean restroom. We are on a RV road trip and stopped by to do laundry at the laundromat next door. To our surprise, Hap's is right next door. We were able to grab a few drinks, watch sports, Olympics, news on 8 TVs in the main bar area. My group of 4 adults felt welcomed here and got a few local tips for supermarkets before we took off for our next campground. Thanks!

Service at the bar is friendly and very fast!! Kelly was the bartender and with a full bar she was keeping a conversation with us and yet never let anyone go unattended!! The bar is one of the oldest in Helena and us a must if you want a cool drink and a minute of slot machines.

My girl friend wanted to me to check it out since it was my first time experiencing the small town of Helena. So we thought this would be a decent place to go. We soon found out just how wrong we were. This is a small local tavern and average country male Montana bar. Service at the bar was okay, it was easy to get drinks but they were served in plastic cups. I will never go there again. it is in my opinion it is a local drunk bar.

Love this place!! Hadn't been there in a few years but I stopped in today and I still love it. Brent was awesome, gave us some great lunch recommendations and was quite friendly. Good old fashioned day drinking crowd in a nice friendly dive bar setting. 10/10 would recommend to a friend

Haps is a fun place to drink, whether right after work or on a Saturday night. The bartenders and karaoke DJs make an effort to get to know you and take care of you. They have peanuts, pool tables, gaming machines and karaoke 5 nights a week.

It's a hole in the wall bar. Nothing special. It's more of a spot for locals and you will more likely than not see the Same people there just about every day.
