Enter and order at the counter (young lady was stone faced and not welcoming at all), then wait 20 minutes or so and listen for someone to call your name at the second window around the corner. Food is packaged well and smells great however, the food has no taste whatsoever. Soul Food is not what you get here. Soul food has seasoning and  I know Glory greens out the can when I see them. Big Mama may have cooked soul food but these cooks are not. I could clearly see why I was the ONLY African American ordering food! I wasn’t impressed at all but hey I’m just a little girl from the SOUTH!

Side note: The cooks wore NO GLOVES! NO HAIR NETS! The kitchen was clean and organized.

Best catfish in Omaha. The house made hot sauce is some of the best I've ever had. The Mac and cheese is really good and the fried okra is great on its own or dipped in the hot sauce. The cornbread was super good as well. The service was spot on and the staff is friendly. Good atmosphere, very open space and lots of seating at the bar.

I came in around 4pm for an early dinner and thought the food was excellent! Everything was extremely flavorful and well seasoned. I definitely want to come back and try some more items from the menu.

This visit, I had the fried okra and the chicken wings with the house seasoning. The spicy sauce on the side was great for dipping both. I don’t usually like cornbread, but this was definitely the best cornbread I have ever had.

The meal was a little pricey on first glance. But since everything was so good I think it was worth it. Would definitely recommend coming here and the coffee shop down at the building’s first floor.

As a Native Nebraskan who moved out of state and considered this place a favorite when I lived here, I was excited to take my partner’s family here Saturday 07/06- unfortunately we were disappointed. We showed up early/mid afternoon when the restaurant was empty. The one employee in the room took a long time to acknowledge our presence and seemed bothered at having to serve us. We were not given forks with food (like greens and Mac and cheese that very obviously required them), so we asked for them and were only given a couple for our large group and were told “they’re coming” - they never came, so we had to keep asking for them one by one. We were also not given the sweet potato cheesecake or pop that we ordered so we had to go up and ask. The people in the kitchen told us to go to the front where the extremely unenthusiastic employee slowly grabbed the items for us. They were out of all of the pop we ordered, so we were told we could get a replacement of lemonade. After handing one of us a lemonade, the employee said “I have to go to the back” and took 5-10 minutes before returning to help. I am giving two stars because the food was mostly still good (although the corn bread is dry and stale- nothing like it used to be) and the atmosphere still tells the story of a phenomenal woman who had her dream of owning a restaurant fulfilled and we miss dearly. Unfortunately I’m worried it is nostalgia now- I wish I had been left with the memory of the restaurant as it was. I’m concerned this restaurant has gone from its days being featured on Guy Fieri to deserving an episode of Kitchen Nightmares- sadly, we do not see ourselves returning

We had heard good things about Big Mama's, and we were looking forward to an authentic soul food experience.  It was a little tough to find due to the street-facing signage being a little tough to spot, but our GPS got us there.

We were surprised about how new the building was, and while it was nice, it didn't seem very "down home".  The polished concrete floors and metal surfaces made the dining area loud, as was the music.  The food was okay, but it was pricey and there was nothing really special about it.

Maybe we caught them on an off night?
