Beware of the automatic refill charge! This seems to be a new game in town. The rental co.s charge you for an empty tank regardless. You have to call them to get your refund! This happened with Budget too, so Avis is not the only one playing a new Covid scam. Other than that, they were great at the desk. Gave me a bigger car than I asked for, which I didn't need but was fun anyway. So good people with a sneaky back-end policy......!

Do NOT use this Avis location!!! And definitely, do NOT use the Key Drop box located in the Garage! Avis will claim that the key was not dropped off, even though I had 2 business colleagues with me when the car Key Fob was dropped off. The Drop Box in the garage is NOT SECURE! Needless to say, the rental car ended up in LA and they are trying to bill me for the additional days where AVIS did NOT secure the Key Return drop box.

Candy at Avis car rental at New York New York hotel got me a car in less then 20 minutes when I was assured by enterprise that I wouldn't find a car due to the holidays. Thanks to her!!! I got my family back home to LA in a couple hours.

Will never rent with this company ever again. The rental agents are visiting among one another instead of helping the customers. The car they gave to me was starched on all sides. They told me that it was my job to take photos of the car. Also that was the only car they had available when I asked for another car. Stay away from this company. Never again will I rent from Avis.

I booked through hopper for $269.00 pay at pickup. The policy mentioned at pickup to present my credit card with the amount for the rental and a $200 hold. Once I got to the counter (12/24/21)I was charged $369.00 for the rental onto my card. She then said she was going to proceed at take an additional $400 as a hold. I then told her to stop as this did not align with the policy. So I told her to cancel as I was not planning on that and that was not stated in the policy. ($369.00 taken from card at this point but no car issued) I called a customer service agent at Avis and they could not understand why I told that. I asked him how to proceed as my money is now with Avis and I was not issued a car. He then hung the phone up on me. So my Christmas was ruined. I had $369.00 taken by Avis and denied a car. My trip was cancelled because of this! It is not Monday December 26th and I still haven't received a refund on my $369.00 that was $100.00 more than the rental amount. However I was actually denied a car. Thank you Avis! Thank you!!!

Rude, overpriced, unhelpful and misinformed staff. Save your money and time and go elsewhere. Lady working at the desk 5/16/18 at the tropicana was unfriendly and uninterested in providing any sort of basic customer service.. went to another nearby company and paid less for a better car with much friendlier staff. A must to avoid!! This is my first yelp review and its because I want to make sure folks know these 1 stars are here for a reason.. be warned.. np need to consider this place with so many better optipns nearby.

I rented a car back in April. Initially, I reserved through Costco, but the service desk person recommended to cancel if returning the car in less than 24 hours. After being quoted a lesser price, I had agreed. My Costco bill reflected a different charge (more than double). I was supposed to be charged $129.24, and was charged $276.52. I have called Avis, who tried to state that I had the car for greater than 24 hours - not true! We have photographic evidence of the ticket stub you need to leave in the car (returned within 24 hours). In fact, we have photos of the worn down back tires, which caused the car to hydroplane 3x in the pouring rain driving back from the Grand Canyon - VERY UNSAFE. This was conveyed to Avis attendant, whom told my husband that the car would be taken to the airport - hopefully for service. After explaining this to customer service on the phone (Armando), he then indicates that, indeed, the car was taken "out of the fleet" and he found a record of me being charged $129 price. I disputed this, and told him that this was in dispute with the credit card company. Armando then went on to say that it would be best that I stop the dispute and manage it with Avis. Skeptical, I did not cancel said dispute, and emailed Avis billing dispute department - who closed it today because I had an open dispute with my credit card. Now, I called my credit card, who recommended NOT to close my dispute and that it is a typical tactic used by companies so that the consumer loses their ability to reopen the dispute if not resolved with the company. Whoever is running this company are either training their staff to scam people or it is the parent company that enables this fraudulent behavior. I don't know. This experience was sub par, sub optimal, and UNSAFE! I had my kids in an unsafe car and charged $276.52 for less than 24 hours. Somehow, AVIS has done NOTHING to resolve. Luckily, I am in possession of photographic evidence, but imagine those who don't anticipate issues and lose money like this. Ughh. Really disgusted! DO NOT USE this service.

An absolute scam. I have used Avis for many years, and I booked a reservation within 24 hours of my pickup date. Unfortunately, I had to cancel a mere 2 hours after booking for an emergency. Upon calling, I was told "there was nothing we can do to waive the cancellation policy". I know this is a lie because Avis has waived it before within a 24 hour period for me due to complications. The cancellation policy is an absolute joke, as they charge $150USD. This was essentially the cost of the entire reservation itself. Avis has lost my loyal business, and I will be reporting this absolute miscarriage of justice to everyone. What a shame considering how much I have sang the praises of this company in the past. I highly recommend you never use this company, this specifically being the New York New York location in Las Vegas. What disgusting customer relations and such a greasy way to get paid. I hope you are satisfied with your $150 Avis. Bravo

Definitely, buyer beware. We were charged $18 for fuel even though we had filled up the tank before returning the car. I called the 800-number to question the bill and customer service was extremely rude. Thankfully, we had saved our fuel receipt.

Worst rental car experience ever! Prior to getting Lt to Vegas I had a gentleman Call who was very polite and helpful. Funny thing is he mentioned he didn't want me to have a problem with the employee who was going to be there for our pick up! We had the worst experience ever renting and returning from this location at New York New York Hotel. The female employee seemed to know minimal about her job and she was not even polite or helpful. She basically could care less about us as customers. She told us that the system was down when we returned our two vehicles so I advised I would come back since I was early for drop off. Upon return we were told that the system was still down and to call the customer service #. Upon calling customer service we were told they could do nothing for us. That the employee there with us should be able to take care of it! She refused to email or mail us a paid out receipt. She even told me that if I wanted it mailed I would have to pay for postage! Wow that one put me over the edge. We will NEVER rent from this Avis location again! Absolutely horrible customer service.
