Omg this is one of the BEST Japanese meals I've had since moving to Vegas 14 years ago. I tried half the menu (almost) and I would order all items over again- and there was still more to try. The staff was also very friendly. I will definitely be back.

We originally were going to eat at chipotle when we stumbled upon this restaurant. Great food, good service, and reasonably priced. The ramen was $18.80, the karaage mayo bowl was $9.80, and the wagyu was $20.80 and let me tell you it was worth every penny. The wagyu was my favorite as the meat just melts in your mouth. The karaage was also really good very flavorful and crispy. My family prefers the ramen broth to be a little more rich but it was okay. The restaurant was empty when we went around 8pm but don't let that stop you. We're so glad we decided to check it out.

no alcohol?!!! Good food but to me izakaya=beer, sake, and nihonshu so I took a star off. I will not return until they get their liquor license. How can you eat this with water and soft drinks? Also, I felt their food was a bit bland... I ended up using the salt and shichimi on the table. Good interior and vibe though. I wish the construction would end soon too

Service is quite fast and attentive. Food comes out quickly and hot. Ambiance is a cute Japanese theme. The various Japanese sodas here made me quite happy and paired well with dinner. Although I don't drink, they don't have a liquor license, but will get one soon. House salad with fresh ginger sesame dressing was quite refreshing. Yellowtail carpaccio with sesame had a deep flavor I enjoyed, though the sashimi pieces themselves were quite thin. There was a lot of onion on the top which I didn't end up eating all of. Chicken with plum and shiso was a bit lacking in ume but otherwise cooked perfectly. Pork belly with daikon and radish was also cooked perfectly, though I couldn't really taste the Ponzi. A5 wagyu beef skewer was a bit fatty and overcooked. Flavor was ok, though we needed to salt it. I feel like it could use more of a crust/char, though that could be personal preference. A tare version of this would be delicious. Shiitake mushrooms and king oyster skewers were also cooked perfectly juicy, though lacking a bit in flavor. The highlight of the meal was definitely the karaage which was cooked perfectly juicy and had a satisfyingly crunchy shell. We ended up ordering the chicken thigh and the pork belly tare style and these were honesty the best way to enjoy the skewers here.

The restaurant is very new. The environment is cute they have friendly Japanese music playing. The decor is very cute. The staff was very friendly. I was checked on by 3 different waiters and they were all very attentive even if they weren't the one to take my order. Love the team work! House salad: spring mix with cucumbers and red onions. The wafu dressing was on the saltier side but I liked it with the cucumbers very distinct ginger sesame flavors that tasted home made. Loved it! 3pc chicken karaage: crispy and hot! Well flavored and paired well with the kewpie mayo. I would order this again. Yellowtail carpaccio: the sashimi was sliced thin and there was an excessive amount of shredded red onion. But the sauce was good. I ordered the following yakitori sticks and they all needed a little more char, but the tare was very good. They were all cooked through some were a little over cooked. Eggplant with bonito flakes: good flavor, could use a little salt before cooking Shiitake mushroom: good but could have used a little salt before cooking King oyster mushroom: really good with the meats Chicken meatball: really good, I asked for more tare to eat with it. Chicken thigh tare: really good, perfectly cooked not over done Pork belly ume shiso: a little over done but good could have used more Ume paste Pork belly tare: perfectly cooked really good flavor! Chicken thigh ume shiso: a little over done but still good could have used more ume paste A5 wagu: really good cuts of meat, could have used salt before cooking My only real complaint is that the rice needs to be fluffed occasionally because I had some mushy rice and some hard rice in my bowl.

Stopped by for a quick bite. Craving ramen and although they only have one type, it was flavorful and hit the spot. The salmon mustard carpaccio was my absolute favorite, 7 pieces so good! Dipped my cucumbers in it the dressing was so good. Also, got a wagyu beef skewer. Didn't know this place was even here, would return while in the area. Parking was plentiful. Service was quick to bring out the items.

I live in the East Side, so I am used to having to drive to Spring Valley or somewhere else for Japanese/Asian food. That's why I was surprised to find Izakaya Shun on this side of town. I brought my family with me (who have lived in Japan) and we were all seriously blown away by our meal tonight. We were given the main menu, as well as a Weekend Special menu, so we ordered from both. For the appetizer, we started with fried tofu and dashi with a light sauce. Then, we got some various chicken thigh skewers, chicken meatball skewers, pork belly skewers, and A5 Wagyu beef skewers. For veggies, we got some king oyster mushroom skewers and eggplant skewers. We also got a beef bowl and half order of ramen... oh, and some tebasaki wings! After eating all these, we decided to order more of our favorites. So, we got 2 more orders of wagyu beef skewers and 1 more order of chicken meatball skewer - as well as 1 more order of a half-portion ramen. We couldn't leave without dessert. We got an order of warabi mochi and a scoop of matcha ice cream. It was so good we ordered 1 more of each! The desserts were so good, we decided to get a Japanese ice cream sandwich (so at this point we ordered 5 desserts lol). And, it was so delicious. For beverages, all of us got hot green tea, but I got a (non-alcoholic) Mitsuya Cider which was my first time trying it. It's like a citrus/ginger/apple soda. So good. The ambiance and atmosphere was very casual and welcoming. Everyone was so happy: both customers and employees. Very good vibes. The customer service here is also amazing. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles. Every time someone stopped by our table or took our (multiple) orders, the interactions were so friendly and warm. It really feels like the employees enjoy working here. With such delicious food and fantastic service, this is a 100% A+ restaurant that I will return to. I highly recommend this place and will be telling all my friends and coworkers about this place.

You'd definitely be missing out if you decide to "shun" them. Izakaya Shun is a new Japanese restaurant that appears to be from the same folks who brought Ramen Ebisu to Henderson. Still on the east side but in the vicinity of UNLV, this new spot seats more people and has much less ramen, but more grilled skewers and apps and such. Cold Tofu ($3.80): very soft, topped with a decent amount of bonito and green onion, served w/ a sauce that doesn't really get soaked up by the tofu. Pretty good rendition though. Yellowtail Carpaccio ($11.80): looks like they must have found a sale on red onion and green onion at the local supermarket. Those toppings really drowned out the yellowtail, which was not bad when I got a taste. Wagyu skewer ($7.80): fat bomb on a skewer. The salt was a bit heavy-handed though. Tsukune w/ Tare ($2.80): tender and loose meatballs. The sauce was relatively rich, but the sauce portion was a bit low. Tsukune w/ Ume Shiso ($2.80): same meatballs, but more prominent flavor between the plum and the fragrant herb. Chicken Thigh w/ Salt ($2.80): the most straightforward and best of the thighs I tried tonight. The meat was juicy, but as with the other skewers, the binchotan was subtle if not absent. Chicken Thigh w/ Oroshi and Ponzu ($2.80): possibly a little blander simply because it's topped with a bunch of minced radish. Chicken Thigh w/ Wasabi ($2.80): maybe not the best topping since it's so potent and hard to balance, but I appreciated the variety. Grilled Stingray Fin ($5.80): a surprise since I've never tried it, but it tasted like some of the dried squid often sold in Asian supermarkets. It was also chewy but softer than those dehydrated proteins typically are. The lemon and the mayo sauce helped to temper some of the intense flavors here. I do think at least a few of the pieces were tough. Matcha Anko Waffle ($9.80): an actual showstopper dessert. Tasty liege waffle base, great matcha ice cream, delicious red bean, and soft chewy mochi served with a smoky molasses-like syrup. Every bit of it was lovely. Service was mostly solid, although they forgot about our check for a while at the end. Music seemed pretty Japanese and was lively but approachable. There was plenty of lighting, so I was able to appreciate all the food visually. I liked Izakaya Shun overall. The dessert was definitely the best part, and everything was affordable. Give them a try when you want a change from your usual spot.

Great new spot for yakitori and other Japanese dishes!!! Izakaya Shun is located on Maryland Parkway - same shopping center as Cugino's (my favorite Italian deli) and Chipotle. The space is nicely decorated. I don't always want sushi and part of the challenge for me when looking for a place to eat is finding places that aren't sushi-heavy but also isn't ramen-heavy because I'm not that big on soup. Anyhow, I am always looking and happily found Izakaya Shun near UNLV and was really happy with the food options! They have a great selection of cold and hot appetizers/small plates, donburi (rice bowls). Options also include carpaccios - so you can still get that fix when craving a little raw fish, and a ramen - if you need soup! The focus is on yakitori and robata (grill items) which includes different types of chicken, pork, beef, and fish. They also have waffle desserts for your sweet tooth. Service was super friendly and attentive. I look forward to going back to try more things!
