This place is located in a "up and coming" area with new luxury apartment buildings across the street. There are panhandlers hanging around in the parking lot and also near the entrance of the store asking people for change. The security guard does seem to try to dissuade them from hanging out there but they just walk a few feet farther. The shopper here are also very aggressive, one lady yelled at me because she claimed that I was cutting her while she's not even in line and chatting with her friend facing the other way.

After having a Bi-lateral Mastectomy, I thought I would give Shoprite from home delivery for groceries a try. Reading the reviews, I should have known but I needed help. MY EXPERIENCE: Placing the order on the app was kind of a headache because some locations stopped doing ShopRite from home and deliveries which was the problem for me. I wish my local ShopRite (Newark) hadn't stopped but I went with ShopRite in East Orange. When changing the location items in your cart may not be available and change. That's about all I can say about placing an order through the app. Delivery 2 days later between 4-5 was chosen DAY OF DELIVERY: I receive a text from Shipt driver at 4:12 pm. "Hi, this is your shipt shopper xxxxxxx. I was at the supermarket to pick up your items but they told me it won't be ready for another hour and to inform you to reschedule your time" First of all, why is the delivery person calling me with this and not the store? Second, how am I supposed to reschedule my delivery time when the slots have been blocked which is why I had to wait two days for delivery. I asked the delivery person "How do I reschedule?" She text back "I was advised to tell you to cancel and reschedule I think that's the only way, I'm not really sure sorry" At that point, I called the store. The store rep told me my order is being prepared not to worry. NEXT: I receive a text from ShopRite about my order. Some things aren't available and they wanted to know if I wanted substitutes. There were a few items to sub. But the 2 that I had a problem with were sale items. They replaced the sale items with regular-priced items. I thought they would give me the items at the sale price. NOPE. SO I WILL NEVER ACCEPT REPLACEMENT ITEMS. FINALLY ORDER ON THE WAY: Received text from driver she is on the way at 6:00 pm. You would think there was nothing more to worry about! NOT. I live 3.5 miles from the store 15 to 20 minutes the most. 30 mins pass and I text the driver and receive a response 16 mins away. WHAT. My poor ice cream. Well, I received my delivery 45 minutes the 6 pm on the way text. RECEIVING ORDER: My bags smelled like cigarette smoke. The smell was so strong it made me nauseous. To make matters worse. 2 of my items were expired..... So totally disappointing from beginning to end. But wait that isn't the end. Against my surgery orders, I go to the store to return expired and overpriced items only to be told they will take the expired items but not the replaced items because I excepted them. I have reached out to ShopRite East Orange, Corporate and Shipt. Shipt apologized but nothing more can be done and told me to contact ShopRite for a delivery refund. It's been 5 days and I still have not heard back from ShopRite to try to remedy the situation.

Oh gosh this place is soo toxic. I bought Fiber One cereal here. When my mother had some when I got home, she said it tasted stale. The cereal was expired!! The sell by date was a month ago. When I went back to the store and told them, showed them the receipt that I purchased it that morning, one of the girls behind the counter had the nerve to say "well that's her fault. She should have looked at the date." Say what! The store has expired food on the shelf and she had the nerve to blame the customer. I continued to stand there and demanded a refund. A male supervisor approved the refund. Ridiculousness. East Orange is fastly changing with multiple "luxury" apartments popping up. I wouldn't be surprise this shoprite will revamp themselves to be better. Yet the locals who have been here for decades didn't deserve better.

I'm a employee of shoprite in East Orange nj I push and collect carts for customers to put there groceries in. Our equipment is broken. It's a very uncomfortable place to work. Managers knows equipment is broken but forces you to do more when they also have underline health issues.Everyone on the cart crew is broken up with an exception of to people . Shoprite fixed the sewerage in the front of the store but does not have a back up plan to get remote a cart machine repaired so we can do our jobs successfully just an uncomfortable work environment . In retail they always treat u bad but don't realize or can't understand you can't get the job done with out people.employee have rights as well that people are not using

The Manager Ms. V is very rude , unprofessional and impatient. She yells at the customers and when they ask her for her name to report her bad customer service skills she shoves her name tag in their face and says report me, they ain't going to do nothing and laughs. She needs retraining on Customer Service skills and a write up. She should never approach a customer and shove her name tag in their face. This incident will be reported to the corporate office. This stores rating is a ZERO!!! I had to give them a 1 in order to post the review but that is NOT my score for this Store it is a ZERO!!!!!

This particular shop rite location is operated horribly and I say this as a customer and ex part time cashier. This location is in bad need of new management. 06-20-20 at 8am all the express lines aren't open, resulting in cash register line extending damn near 3 aisles long

Never use they pharmacy even if ur in dying need. The rudest people ever. The older lady at the register act like she's mute n definitely not customer friendly and what doesn't help is the male pharmacist acts just like her. Just rude all around.

If I could give zero I will.. went to shoprite in East Orange my weekly Sunday shopping.. normally get there around 630 .. I knew this shoprite was receiving a shipment of Lysol Spray got there Lysol sold out but the store was not packed maybe 10-15 customers in the store .. me and other customer wondering what happen to the Lysol ..asked the manager he claimed sold out right away ask I'm checking out I notice Lysol spray in bags under every cashier register I could not believe this is crazy.. I told the manager Todd Miller and showed him the pics he claim we gonna look into it..the same guy I came to earlier asking what happen to the Lysol... I'm trying to upload the pic because I took some so the people can see why SHoprite don't have any Lysol the employee are getting them first
