This place used to be huge when it was Elliott's back in the day. Still big but different. Sitting outside will be great when the mosquitoes are gone. Tacos are $4 each, comes with two different salsas and for $4 more you can get beans and rice. It was so good! I had a nice dunkle (their beer). Sat at the bar. Service was excellent. Plenty of seating. Different events at night and they don't open till 4 I believe.

This place is new, so I will take that into consideration. Definitely a cool spot. Patio is awesome. Can't wait to see what they do with the place. They brew their own beer which is a plus. Though they have very minimal selection. I hope to see them grow their selection. Their food was small, but good. It did upset my stomach though the last few times I have gone. I hope to keep continuing to give them a shot and hope they grow their beer selection. The service has been pretty friendly and prompt. I hope this place grows into a place we can look forward to keep coming back too. It has potential

This is my ABQ Beer Passport review for Calavida Cantina. Straight up, they are still growing. They supposedly offer 4 beers they brew. One is an IPA, so no bueno for me. They were out of their Dunkel Nico, which I really wanted to try. Their Mexican style lager is basic and not something I'd order with the other options. That left the Kellerbeir Keller style Pilsner which was ok. So, there will have to be another trip to determine if their beer is worth the trip. They do offer other local beers on tap, but that's not the point of this review. My street tacos were good, similar to Tap 'n Tacos. There was an obvious effort put into the menu and I really want to like it. But, my son has gotten sick both times we've eaten there. My opinion is that their food is super heavy on the seasonings. My own experience was that the Calavida loaded fries were extremely good but I had 2 bone chips in the carnitas. The fried cheese curds are the superstar for appetizers. Service was exceptional with the bartender on it. The patio is one of the best in Rio Rancho and the music was modern. there was a local musician setting up to play. This will be our go-to spot for jumping on the bike trail & finishing with a beer or tacos!

Literally a spot for chill beer lovers or spirits lovers! The bartender was super sweet and welcoming, also attentive and professional! Definitely will be back. Good vibes only it seems. :) good patio for dogs, and cozy hangout spots for group hangs.

Waiting for a long time. Sever never came to us as she said they would be there to take our orders. I went to them to ask about it. They just look at me while making drinks. Me & my girlfriend come here all the time. Never had a problem until today. Won't be going back.

I've driven by Calavida Cantina many times and finally decided to give it a shot. I'll definitely be back, very friendly service (thank you, Alexis!), good food (loved the Street Fries and carnitas tacos) and a nice selection of cold beer.

The service was terrible. We waited for a long time for chips and salsa and had to remind several times we were waiting. When they arrived, there were no napkins. We had to ask for them. Two kinds of beers were out. The tacos arrived with nothing but meat inside, with some chile, lime and onions on the side. No spoons to get to the chile. We had to ask them and got plastic forks instead. The order showed the beer they didn't have and not the one we had to order. Not going back.
