Hampton Inn Albuquerque-University/Midtown is a well-regarded hotel located at 2300 Carlisle NE, Albuquerque, NM. This hotel was well located for me and my son when we were in Albuquerque last month for a service. The staff were friendly. The rooms were clean and seemed fairly newly updated. Because the service we attended was later in the afternoon on a Saturday, they were kind enough to give us an extra late checkout so we could change there and head out without having to wander around and find a place to change closer to the service. I very much appreciated that kindness! Their free breakfast was nice. I preferred the sausage over their bacon. They also had good breakfast tea. They didn't have any non dairy milk but they did have vanilla non dairy creamer packets. It is also well located next to Green Jeans, an indoor/outdoor food court, so we walked over there to meet a local friend for lunch one of the days we were there. The mountain views were lovely from outside of the hotel. Their big sign was broken/torn and their gym equipment needed to be updated or fixed. I think one of the treadmills was broken but luckily no one else was there so I was able to use the one working one. I was advised not to walk outside in the morning by myself due to safety reasons so I was glad to have the treadmill accessible for one day. Another friend picked me up another morning to drive us to a trail area for more scenic and safe walking.

The driveway to the hotel is a bit difficult to find - but otherwise a great location near a tap house and a variety of food sharing the same parking lot. The hotel was neat, clean, and well maintained. Great 24 hr. Fitness room and an outdoor pool. Early morning lobby (around 4am) there were a few unhoused individuals walking up on the desk man (one at a time over the course of the hour). One asked for an application, needing a job, asked for the bathroom, asked for coffee, asked to wash his hands. The other later seemed to be asking for coffee. The gentleman at the desk looked as if this wasn't a new occurrence and had the patience of kindness of a Buddhist monk. Nonetheless, security (for staff and guests) could be tighter.

The location is clean and close to many food options. It is also centrally located near many of Albuquerque's great museums and attractions. The washer and dryer are located on the second floor. They are dated but work great, and it costed me less than $5 to do a load of much-needed laundry. To enter the property, you must use a one-way road access. It is a sharp curve, and at first, the area looks concerning. The concern is that NONE of the accessible outlets worked to charge medical equipment and electronics. We could hear it even with the TV on when the room next door opened and closed their blinds/curtains. All staff were kind and helpful.

This hotel is easily accessible from I-40 and about 10 minutes from U.S. Rt 66. There are a couple of food options within walking distance and a grocery store on the other side of the highway. During our visit in December, they had a hot cocoa station set up near reception. A nice festive touch. A business center is a pub height shelf just off the lobby in a small hallway. Our King bed room footprint was similar to other Hampton Inns with a small closet in the back corner however, in this case there was a place for your luggage next to the closet and the desk was next to the TV. This set up makes sense keeping all the clothing in the same general area and the desk next to the window. One comfortable chair was next to the bed. The TV, fridge, microwave and dresser at the foot of the bed. The 3/4 bath was clean with enough towels for three. Towels are soft and absorbent. Water pressure and hot water were good. Plenty of TP and tissues. Two wall hooks near the shower stall are appreciated. Multi-use personal care products in shower and next to sink. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The room was stuffy when we entered and as there is no bathroom fan, after our showers next morning, we understood why. The humidity in the room was so high the window began to 'weep' due to the difference in the outside and inside temperatures/humidity. It was uncomfortable to be in a room that humid and a bathroom fan would possibly fix this issue. There is a thermostat on the wall that did nothing to change the heat. The wall heater upon inspection was turned off and the controls on the unit turn on the fan/heat. Not sure why the wall thermostat is there. Plenty of free parking around the hotel. Breakfast included is the standard Hampton Inn fare: cold cereal, a couple of hot items, coffee, juice, fruit, toaster items. No refrigerator in this area, items needing refrigeration are in containers designed to keep them cool. Staff interactions were friendly.

Linda at front desk was exceptionally helpful and courteous. We were there for an extended period. Room was very clean and equipped with all the necessary amenities, upon check-in. During our entire stay room was cleaned and received clean linen every other day. The free breakfast was served timely and a nice variety to enjoy. Fresh coffee was available 24 hours. Room rates were reasonable and location very convenient.

The bed was clean. Honestly, even if you're a silver Hilton Honors member, they don't honor your benefits such as waters upon check in. We were told that they only honor God's and above. The place may be cleaner than others, but there were a lot stains, dried condensation steaks on the smooth surfaces near the bathroom. I would say it was closer to a motel vibe. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Morning staff was really friendly and the morning breakfast was good. Surrounding area didn't seem too safe either.

Nice place to stay. Great customer service. Breakfast is decent clean still updated the hotel so our blinds didn't work. The tv is confusing to used. People were vapin but it was taking care right away. My family enjoyed the stay so we will definitely come back again.

Type A personality and I always check reviews for everything, but I failed to check the reviews until the day of check in and panic set in after reading some of the reviews. So much panic that I was trying to figure out how to get out of paying for this room, but we decided to at least get there and see how safe and clean it felt. We didn't arrive till after 6:30 and the parking lot was full. Checked in and the young man working the desk was friendly and honest when I told him I was worried about the negative reviews due to car break ins. He said there had been a homeless shelter up the road and when it closed, the people moved down towards this area, but they are no longer there and are suppose to have security in the parking lot. The hotel is older and worn down, but our room was fine. Yes, it's old, but if this is just a place to sleep for the night, it's fine. Breakfast was ok, not as many options as other Hamptons, but not a big deal for my family. I'm not sure I would stay here again because there are some newer hotels in the area that are closer to more food options and stores within walking distance.

$75.00 for a cat overnight? Total BS bait & switch. Never again. I'll have much more to say later...$75.00 charge for a cat for a night. No notice or discussion of any additional fees at check in. This was a clear bait and switch. We were lied to and cheated out of hard-earned money

This is located in a tiny area of refuge in a bit of a sketch part of town. It's very close to the interstate, so it's convenient. The nearest fuel and coffee locations are fringy-sketch if that's a thing, and nighttime may be a bit more. I walk around more-prepared than most ;-) aaannd with a 200 lb dog, so I'm OK with it. There is a trendy-looking brewery right next door. It looked like a clean, cool, tasty place, but I was too tired to check it out. It's DEFINITELY walkable if you're looking for a closely-packaged pit stop. Customer service was FANFreakingTastic. Parking was good. Pool area was clean and secure. Room was great, in line with the chain standard. Snacks and items you forgot available at the front desk. Breakfast had a good amount of options and good coffee. Ozzie got a good nights sleep before hitting the road again (pictured). I/We'd stay again if passing through.
