Stayed for one night while in town on business, and found this particular Hawthorn property to be "okay." This Hawthorn property seems to be considerably dated than expected. While the suite's size was within expectations, the feel of the room seemed to feel like a larger version of what one would find at a Super 8 motel despite it being clean. Just my impression. The front desk staff was fine, and I appreciated the small gift that was bestowed on me for having Diamond Member status. Breakfast of sausage, waffles and just-add-water eggs was so-so. This alone could have been a lot better. The hotel is located in an area that has restaurants such as Buffalo Wild Wings and others nearby, yet is also directly behind a gas station that has its run of shady characters spill over into the Hawthorn parking lot. Maybe the latter is just an Albuquerque thing? Either which way, the stay was okay. The place could use a makeover though.

Stayed here one night because flight was cancelled. I have stayed at worse places but man this place is not worth staying at unless you have to. We had torn sheets, cigarette burns in the bed covers, paint peeling because of moisture issues. The floors were dirty and the room design was an after thought. Only stayed here because the airline put us up here. The hotel does have WiFi and the staff are friendly.

When I'm traveling cross country by motorcycle, I look for two things, both of which this hotel lists: 1. Warm breakfast (hypoglycemic people do not do well with "continental" breakfast...simple sugars cause our blood sugar to roller coaster). 2. Laundry facilities (three week trip means three trips to the laundry)...well, they list self-service laundry, but there is a problem. The dryer does not work. So you end up with clean but wet clothing. For #2, I asked the hotel staff if they know about the dryer not working. They do. I asked if they intend to put a sign on it to warn other customers. Their response: "Nobody uses it". For this reason alone I give this hotel 1 star. Fix the dryer and I would give it 4 stars.

I'm not sure why this property has a rating of only 2 stars.. it's an older property, however well maintained with attentive staff from the front desk to maintenance to housekeeping. Each room has it's only ac unit that you control, clean and great comfortable beds.. if I'm not mistaken as I lost count.. I'm going on my 9th week here.. if there was a problem I would have been out of here.

My mom always taught me if you don't have anything nice to say......let's just say they need to remodel! Proximity to the airport was the main plus.

We stayed here because of the good rates they offer if you have an appointment at the VA hospital. The outside has trash all over, very nasty musty smell around the elevators. Everything is outdated and worn. Housekeeping didn't clean very well papers on the floor and hairs in the shower. Not a place we will choose to stay again.

I have no idea what possessed me when I chose this place to stay. I was scanning the literally hundreds of places I could stay for a couple of nights in Albuquerque. Most of the famous names, Marriott, Hilton, Embassy, etc were hovering in the $130 to $160 range per night......when this hotel caught my eye for some unknown reason. It said, remodeled in 2003, suite rooms with refrigerator/microwave, free hot breakfast....and free internet......$71/ night. If you subtract the value of the breakfast and internet, thats a $50 a night room! I'm paying more for my rental car. Most Yelpers I know spend more on appetizers at dinner than that. When I feed my kids, I spend more at McDonald's.......curiousity got the better of me and I booked it. The worst that can happen is that I change hotels in the middle of the night.....(which I had done earlier this year......OOOPS..what the heck did i get myself into????) Arriving close to midnight I arrrived where the desk clerk greeted me and promptly got me my room. The place was nearly empty........(now I am in trouble....) but everything was clean, tidy and in pretty good shape. Getting into my room, I quickly finished my Frontier take out......and head off to bed....... NOW I UNDERSTAND $71 PER NIGHT!!!!!!! I quickly looked around to check to see if I was at the Madonna Inn and had inadvertantly checked into the Fred Flintstone room.....ummm no. I am in Albuquerque and am laying on a bed you would see on a National Geographic special about the daily life of Lucy. I think if there was a nuclear accident at nearby Sandia, this bed will be still here as evidence of a previous civilization..... Well ok....I survived, the bed is hard but I slept ok....but then again I can sleep leaning against a wall. On to breakfast......the breakfast was a much better experience. Highlight was biscuits and gravy......The biscuits was cooked to have a crunchy crust......perfect for gravy because lighter, fluffy biscuits become oatmeal when gravy is poured on. These biscuits kept their crunch with the gravy poured on it. There were link sausages you could add to the gravy if you wanted some meat with it.....Scrambled eggs, hash browns were all average but good for breakfast. Overall because of the Flintstone bedding, this is only a 3 star....could have been 4. If your back is sensitive to a very hard mattress, I would strongly suggest plowing through other choices.

I have never spent less time at a hotel than I did at this one. I had a ridiculously early flight so booked this hotel for its proximity to the airport. I got in from Socorro much later than I thought so had just enough time at the hotel to shower and take about a 3 hour nap. Then it was up and over to the airport. Ugh... But as for the hotel... Location was great and easy to find. There was plenty of parking. Although trying to find an open gas station (to top off the rental car) that night nearby was a chore. I got in so late there was no one around so check in was a breeze. The lady working the front desk was friendly. My room was spacious and well stocked. I loved that it got really cold and was quiet. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows. It was clean aside from one long black hair I found on a towel. Gross yes, but I guess those things happen. I left so early that I didn't see anyone or have an option of breakfast. For the few hours I was here it was a good experience.

Got a good deal for this place online. I am not sure how, but I was placed in a smoking room, I must have reserved it accidently. It did stink of old smoke but I figured it was my fault. The place was not very clean in general. After walking across the floor in my room in my socks, they were very dirty. It was rather off-putting. The breakfast bar in the morning was pretty good. I realize that you get what you pay for but this place is in definite need of an overall.
