A reservations by definition is when a reservation is made the vehicle is reserved. Albuquerque airport National turned customers away with no explanation. Evidently this location often accepts the reservations the. leaves their customers high and dry by not have the "reserved" vehicle. Very bad location to do business with.

National at the airport is convenient if you are an Emerald member. I had reserved a midsize vehicle. Upon my arrival they had 1 car in this class or offered free upgrade to a mustang. (Week of ballon fiesta, of course they had lots of rentals!) As I wanted something with good gas mileage, I went with the Hyundai Elantra. Overall satisfied with the car, some of the features were strange. Also, this car was rented to us with a small Crack in the windshield. Return was a breeze. Shuttle convenient and often to/from the airport.

As most travelers are just tired from the flight, having to get the rental is just another dreaded task. I forgot I had Emerald status (it'd been over a year since I last came to ABQ) and the guy at the counter was just not welcoming. So we were off to a bad start. As he was looking up my reservation, I told him how I remembered in the past just walking outside and hopping in a car and he rudely told me "yeah, if you're an Emerald member, otherwise you need to come to the counter". Ok so normies go to the counter. got it. That's when I remembered I was an Emerald member and he confirmed it. He directed me to the stand outside and said to show the guy my ID and credit card. I'm already tired from flying all day, so I get out there, showed the guy my stuff and he looked at me like I was in the wrong place, like I didn't belong there. LOL. turned out I didn't need to show him anything!!! It's the person at the end when you leave that you need to show your stuff. He nonchalantly pointed to the rows of cars I could pick from. When I asked a clarifying question, he seemed bothered. He needs serious customer service skills. I ain't trying to play the race card but he should treat all customers the same. As I'm getting myself situated in the car, I'm already tired, and it's hot. I noticed there was a large case of waters on the counter where I had been talking to the guy. It was hot and he never offered me a water. I was too tired to get out of the car, so I pulled up and there was a girl there. She kindly gave me 2 waters and I thanked her. Returning the car was a breeze. Just ensure you get a receipt before leaving.

I love national but this location never has cars. It's only Wednesday and already sold out next week. I've been to ABQ 6 times in the last 2 years and 4 times they were sold out. Please add more cars obviously you don't have enough.

Does anyone really ever like renting a car? It usually takes a million years and they try to up-sell you on everything. National makes it so easy. The car is ready and waiting for you, there's literally no sales pitch and off you go. Easy peezy. Through their preferred customer program, the prices are great. I'm sorry, I'm starting to sound like an ad. My only issue - and this is not National's fault... we could not find a gas station for the life of us. When we did, and I think it was called M&M, they wanted to charge us $7/gallon. Are you kidding me?

Imatsu from Long Beach Airport was amazing. He went above and beyond to help us. We could not turn the air conditioning on and he came out to the car to show us. Great guy!!!!

I show you have already spoken with representatives in this department as they were the ones to answer your question and provide the courtesy refund. National has been transparent in every step of this process. The central issue here is that you were not double checking the fuel gauge that is present in every vehicle in our fleet to see if you were returning with a full tank. Despite you not returning the rental back with a full tank, which you agreed to on your rental agreement, representative Misty agreed for National to eat the cost of the 3 gallons of gas you shorted us. We strongly recommend in the future that you pay attention to the fuel gage or take the Fuel Service Option to resolve this prior to return. Thank you for reaching out to National! I didn't need your condescending email. It was your company that requested I email in response to my feedback. I know all vehicles, not just National's have fuel gauges! I've been driving for a long time. I realize Misty credited me and I did not hide that fact when I gave my feedback. Reiterating in your email, the info I already gave in my feedback is presumptuous that your customers unintelligible. Your tone is not helpful in customer retention. Unimpressed by National's employee Derek. MUST READ, National doesn't operate with transparency^^ Arriving at airport and meeting our greeter was great! We asked for an upgrade and he was kind to work with. We agreed to pay our own fuel and return with a full tank. Upon arrival, the fuel tank meter said FULL. When I got my bill, National charged me close to $14.00 for fuel. I contacted to dispute. The company reply was: "I see that the rental was returned with 3 gallons less than when picked up. This is the reason for the $13.79 charge. In October 2020 we installed telematic fuel systems in all rentals that calculate the rental to the exact amount at pick up and return. Well how is the customer supposed to know the EXACT amount??!?! The meter said full! As a one time courtesy they refunded the $14. Here was their reply to me: "I have applied the one time credit today for the fuel in the amount of $14.48. This is a one time courtesy credit. Please be aware in the future that the fuel will be calculated upon return and the charge will be collected based on the return level of fuel." National should inform their customers about the telemetric system and have a display for the customer to see!! The 3 stars goes to the staff at the time of pick-up. They were great! The rating lacked 5 stars because of the sneaky, non-transparent way National operates with regards to their fuel policy. I shouldn't have to find out later and not be informed! Unsure I will use this car rental company again.

I really appreciate the anninuncrmts on the shuttle bus. Directions and freeways and policies about lost items. They also pffered Commmet card s. Ariel suggest advice about turning on light.
