This review is relative to other Residence Inns I have stayed at and assumes a perfect new one like the The Wilson/Residence Inn in Big Sky is a perfect 5. This was well located for the event I had to attend. The staff was attentive, kind and professional. The price was right. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants dozens of restaurants, mostly big chains like PF Chang's and Texas Road house. All that adds up to a decent option for this part of town. Unfortunately by Residence Inn standards it is lacking in some areas. No bar limited food options. Very small market. It is also desperate for a remodel, which honestly is a bit of a theme with lower end Marriott properties in this town. It is vintage 1995 and pretty beat up across the board. They apparently have a remodel pending but they need it now. Given the price point, the reports from other people about the other hotels near by, and the accommodating staff - I'd consider staying here again. It's just that it should be better and the Marriott flag in this town in general needs to renovate old properties and bring them up to expectation.

I've stayed in plenty of Marriott Residence Inns, and this one is probably the worst one. I not only slept on a lumpy, uncomfortable sofa bed, I left with a gazillion bed bug bites! I would not stay here again.

Stay almost anywhere else! I have stayed in many Residence Inns and this one is by far the worst! The staff was friendly enough but also made it clear ownership does not want to staff adequately. The hallway floors have multiple spots with duct tape holding the carpet together.

Checked in, no luggage carts. Went down repeatedly the next day, no luggage carts still. No luggage carts in a hotel. 2&1/2 stars for drinkable bold coffee. No herbal tea. An okay hotel.

Spent over two weeks at the hotel due to repairs on our home. Front desk staff very friendly and accommodating. Understand Covid-19 has changed things but dirty stained carpet, old worn furniture, suite phones not working and a garbage disposal that was deafening when used was something I didn't expect for a Residence Inn. The side door lock card reader didn't work which meant you had to go through the lobby to get back to the room. I don't know how many times I used the door to get to the parking lot to find a small rock keeping the door open. Very unsafe. If you wanted your room cleaned you had to let the front desk know the day before. When our room was cleaned the maid did not restock toilet paper or tissue. I had to go to the front desk to ask for more. Pool, exercise room and breakfast were all closed due to the virus. Beds were comfortable. If my wife and I had to do it again we would find some place else to stay.

I stayed with my family last month at this hotel. This was the second year in a row that my sister and I have stayed here, but it was our parents' first time since they accompanied us to Albuquerque this month for the annual Balloon Fiesta. Last year, my sister and I stayed in a one-bedroom suite on the second floor. We had a pretty good experience overall with the front desk customer service, the kitchen staff, and the housekeeping. However, this year, our stay here was very different from last year's hotel stay for extremely alarming and disturbing reasons! Prior to our arrival in Albuquerque this year, we tried to book a larger room since we had more family members with us. We were not able to get a 2-bedroom suite. And once we arrived to our hotel in October, we were told only upon arrival that because this hotel was fully booked for Balloon Fiesta and at full capacity, we had to settle for a studio room. This wouldn't have been too much of an issue if the housekeeping was up to par. However, in our initial assigned room, we noticed that there was very noticeable grout on the tile walls of the one and only bathroom in our room. It was very dirty, and the light inside was pretty dim. My family members and I noticed that during our stay, we developed some really prominent bug bites on our backs, legs, and hands. I especially felt the most bug bites on my right leg and I felt extremely itchy and uncomfortable during our entire stay. Finally, when the majority of hotel guests checked out on Sun (10/15), we asked the front desk clerk if we could possibly switch rooms because we could no longer stand the grouty bathroom, and the additional bug bites that we were getting from our room. I showed my prominent bug bites on my right leg to the front desk clerk. In response to our troubles, he was very prompt and courteous and provided us with a complimentary upgrade to a 2-bedroom suite with 2 clean bathrooms. He also said that he would ask housekeeping to look into our original room and inspect it regarding the concerns that we brought to his attention. Fortunately, our new room was a lot better, cleaner, and much airier compared to our previous room. For once during our entire stay, we actually got a better night's sleep without waking up to new bug bites. My family and I think that the front desk staff and the kitchen staff were exceptional! However, it seems to us that the housekeeping is really lacking this year in terms of cleanliness. We hope that the initial hotel room that we stayed in, as well as any other hotel rooms that might also bear some of the same problems, are properly inspected and sanitized. It is extremely concerning when a hotel has major grout and bug bite issues. We shouldn't have gotten so many prominent bug bites from staying inside a hotel, and we shouldn't have had to deal with a bathroom that had major grout issues. Much to our dismay, we received all of our bug bites from inside the hotel rather than outside on the balloon field. And even as I am writing this in November, my family members and I are still treating our bug bites from that hotel with aloe vera gel, Benadryl cream, and Calamine lotion! How ridiculous is that?! I wrote to the management in mid-October about all this because I wanted to bring to their attention some of the conditions that we experienced from this year's hotel stay. Our family's intention was to inform them about what we experienced so that, hopefully, current and future guests would not go through the same horrible experience that we went through. However, more than 2 weeks went by, and still no response. That is when I took the matter to Marriott Guest Escalation Services, which forced the ABQ hotel managers to finally respond. The hotel managers told me that they had a pest control company come in to inspect, and there was no evidence of bed bugs. They also told me that they had tried to call me, but couldn't reach me. I thought this was complete nonsense because there were no missed calls or voicemails on my cell phone from their hotel. Nor were there any messages left on my home phone answering machine. I told them this, and I also told them that they really need to get a better pest control company to properly inspect that hotel room. There were obviously bugs in that room - on the bed, sofa, floor, etc. How else could our bug bites be explained? We only received them after staying there! It's unfortunate that my sister and I came back here a second year in a row because we had a great experience last year. But this year's hotel stay really made us think otherwise!! We certainly can NOT recommend anyone to stay here!!

Clean spacious rooms... feels like home. Staff was professional and helpful. Bedding was comfy. Not crazy about the warning from local P.D. given with our keys... not to leave anything in our cars due to high rate of break-ins in the area. I guess that's Albuquerque and they said they hadn't had any recent incidents but still... it's unnerving. At the same time, it's good that they warn their patrons.

97 days... 97 days.... 97 days... Quite the experience... I was there for work, in the Land of Enchantment!!!! The staff: The receptionist desk, in no particular order: (Rochelle, Lana, Joshua, Jason, Kyle) we're ever so pleasant, attentive & informative disposition. Customer Service to the Max!!! I was temporarily displaced & they made me feel closer to home than I could've ever imagined. Specifically: ROCHELLE made sure my room was attended to & greeted me every morning w her beautiful smile... LANA made sure in the afternoon upon my return that all was in place & sometimes she managed to call remind me of The managers dinner (yessasss yessass) JOHN provided information regarding local eateries & ABQ-happenings for my entertainment JOSHUA ever so politely followed up with any mail that May have come for me & once again ensured my room was cleaned & attended to to my liking KYLE provided my nightly humor that always seemed to be my night cap!!! Housekeeping: (heavy sigh) I found these guys & gals to, unfortunately, be waaaaaaay more laxed than I care to mention; uncleared room phone, unsanitary bodily hairs remained in the tub (after a cleaning), just to name a few things, but you get the picture; however I would be remiss if I didn't mention the special attention that MARISOL provided for my room after I entered it & found it NOT to my liking. Helllllooooo clone her like 20xs & a 5-star hotel you will have. The language barrier also proved to be challenging, but bearable. Maintenance: Can you say, 'Johnny on the spot'; I made two complaints & those items were fixed upon my return to the room. My own personal "Mr Fix-It"; I looooooooved it!!!!! Kudos for keeping the hot tub& pool were keep in tip-top-shape; always inviting!!! The Managers Social Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday freeeeeeeee fooooood helllllo. And breakfast EVERY MORNING!!!! Alllll the perks of the Residence Inn make it my favorite, FAVORITE, faaaaaaaaaaavoRITE hotel!!!!! #teamresidenceinn Other perks: steps from the major interstate system, pet friendly, 1x pet fee, several great eateries within walking distance, lots of brochures for 'local attractions', business center w available desktop & printer, ample parking, work out facility, tennis court, washer & dryer facilities, also concierge services... 97 days didn't breeze by, but the comforts listed above made those days feel 'easy & breezy'. Loved my time there ABQ; you're such a Great Host!!!!

I would have rather stayed at a Motel 6. At least there you know what you're expecting. And honestly, I have had better nights at refreshed Motel 6's than I have had here (in the past when I was much younger). We travel a lot. A LOT. So, we invested in credit cards that give us status at Marriott, Hilton and IHG. If we are looking to go a little less expensive on the hotel, we settle for IHG. This time, we wanted to spend a little more so we went with Marriott. I didn't check the reviews of the hotel or else I probably would have opted for a different (better) Marriott. We walked in the room (second floor - one above and one below), and it seemed nice at first glance. But then you see the details. Stains on the sofa and chairs (not small ones), the curtains were ripped, almost shredded - Tacksville extreme. Then we decided to pull out the sofa bed (not expecting much for a sofa bed but still). It was a thin spring mattress probably 4 inches thick. I can't even call it a mattress. It was the part that's supposed to go beneath the mattress. My kiddo was exhausted and wanted to sleep (as did we), so I called the front desk to ask for a foam mattress topper (before you open the sofa "bed" it says IF you need a foam mattress topper to call the front desk). I'm sorry, "IF"?? Well, I guess it's a question of "IF" you want to sleep on the hard as a rock sofa bed versus "IF" you wanna sleep on the floor. Anyway, I call the front desk and the guy says he will have to look and see if they have any more. I replied, ok.... so are you gonna call me back? Or should I assume you would have them. He said he would call back. 15 minutes later, no call. I call the front desk again and ask if he found one. Conversation below Me: "Hi, I'm calling back to see if you were able to locate any foam mattresses? My kiddo is really sleepy and it's been 15 minutes since I've called." Front desk man: "There are multiple storage units in this building and I have to go through each one of them to see if we have any more available." Me: "Ok... so have you checked any yet? If not, how long will it take?" Front desk man: "Like I said, there are 3 floors and storage units at different points in the building on each floor so to look through all of them to even see if we have any left is gonna take at least 15 to 20 minutes." Me: "In addition to the 15 minutes I've already been waiting. Super. Ok, let me know. Thanks." End Conversation. I'm sorry, are YOU doing ME a favor? Last I checked this is your job so why are you being a complete prick? And why are you the only person staffed in this entire building tonight? Are there no other staff members at all? That's just strange. He did bring us the mattress topper about 15 minutes later, so that was skippy. And he was the only person on staff in the whole building. That's strange. No extra pillows for the sofa bed either. We just took some off the Queen been and tossed them over. No biggie. Wanted to sleep in (past 7am anyway - I normally wake up at 415am for my job 6 days a week). Wasn't able to do so because of the elephants stomping overhead. I don't know if they were really big people or if the floors are just frustratingly thin (I'm thinking the latter due to being able to hear whole conversations of people walking by in the hallway as well). So here I am, wide awake at 6:30am on the only day I had to sleep in, ruined by the people upstairs, and pissed off. At least at home I could've slept in til 8 or 9. Just be aware of that if you're a light sleeper. This ain't the place for you. Your timer will essentially be based off the people in the room above you (get a room on the third floor if you can). I hear the water in the pipes. Seriously. It's that loud. I hear the people upstairs turning their faucet on and the pipes are clanking loudly. My husband and child are lucky they are heavy ass sleepers. I'm not. I'm tired. The air conditioner: AKA 454 big-block Chevy engine turning on in your room. The a/c didn't function appropriately. We woke up twice with the room hot and stuffy. We changed the a/c setting to "on" instead of "auto" meaning the fans should not turn off even when the a/c compressor (there's that engine again) turns off. But it did. We couldn't keep the fan on in the room. Too late to switch rooms as it was 1 am, and again at 3am. I need the room to be dark to sleep (I can't help the way I was built). The curtains did not block out any light. Can't go back to sleep even now that the people upstairs have stopped stomping (8am). This is a horrible hotel. I would have rather paid triple digits at a nicer hotel. I wouldn't slap the Marriott name on this hotel. Save your money and go somewhere else.
