Clown show of a car rental company. I prepaid for my car but agreed to pay for the gas ahead of time at the counter. I was told it would be $46.90 to prepay the gas. Works for me. I was charged $58.69, about $12 more than I should have been. I left review with the company and expressed my displeasure, and I was emailed the next day by Chloe, a general manager. I sent her proof that I was clearly overcharged and her response to me was that the extra $12 was "tax." First, what? $12 tax on $46? Also, why wasn't the tax included in the charge? Will never do business with this disreputable company again. Also, their cars suck. The car I was in had the most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat in. Will go Hertz or another more reputable company going forward. Save myself the headache and the clown show.

Flight got in at 11:30pm and I got to the desk right at 12am only to find it closed. I tried to call ahead to make sure someone was at the desk, but there's no local phone number (just a hotline). So I ended up Uber-ing to the hotel and then back the next morning. When returning the car, the attendant claimed that I had damaged the car with a small scratch on the door. When I later checked my pickup paperwork, that scratch was clearly documented as already existing. I tried to call the desk, but was told by the hotline that I couldn't call directly and that the problem was "out of their hands" even at the call center, since claims was already processing a damage claim. I tried emailing the claims department, only to receive a stock email ignoring my documentation and saying that they still expected me to pay them anyway. I'd avoid Sixt at all costs.

This company will steal your money, do not rent from them. I prepaid for a car and when I go to the counter they denied me a car and won't refund my money. Go to enterprise

Flight was cancelled. Prepaid-so couldn't get a refund even with notice. They rented the car we were getting AND took our money. Go with the big names. This stinks!

HORRIBLE!!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THESE SCAMMERS. Took a chance on this rental company even though we had never heard of them. Prepaid for the rental for our trip that was back in December of last year (about 9 months ago). My husband is meticulous when renting cars. He always circles the vehicle taking pictures of any and all damages. This time was no different. Took pics of various dings and scratches, and uploaded them to their portal. When it comes time to return the car, the lady inspecting the car starts pointing out said damages. We explained that they were already there when we picked the car up and that we had uploaded them to their portal. She tries to say they didn't get them (even though when we uploaded them a confirmation screen came up staying they were successfully uploaded). Fine. We show her the date/time stamped photos from his phone with all of the damages she was trying to claim we made. She says ok, acknowledges that they were there already, and signs off on the car. So we think that's the end of it. Fast forward to this week, my husband runs his credit because we're looking to buy a car. It's significantly lower than it should be. So he gets his credit report, and find out that these absolute FRAUDSTERS claimed we damaged the car anyway, but instead of charging the card they had on file or contacting us in any way, THEY SENT IT TO COLLECTIONS! Nearly $900 in damages, all of which are things we took pictures of and uploaded to their app, brought to their attention both when checking out and returning the car, and that they signed off on. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!! THEY. ARE. SCAMMERS.

First I thank representative inside rental desk : JODI Want to thank outside representative: AUNI Jodi was amazing made sure everything was set and got full protection coverage . It always best to do so and she calmly went over all details . She was so friendly just like family . She talk with me on many items and talk great about the BMW I was going to drive. One amazing lady . AUNI Was very special too. She got inside the vehicle with me and went over all the computer screens . I knew nothing except to drive With her help I enjoyed everything the car could do. Thank you ladies

While I've had positive experiences at other Sixt locations in the past, the Albuquerque Airport Sixt fell miserably short. After reserving a compact, I was "upgraded" to a Mini Cooper, as they did not have any economy/compact cars left on the lot. I'm not even sure why they would offer a Mini Cooper at an airport location, as everyone normally arrives with luggage and Mini Cooper's trunk can barely accommodate one medium size suitcase. In a classic bait-and-switch, the desk then offered another "upgrade", albeit for an additional $15/day. Rather than do the right thing and offer a free upgrade because they planned poorly and did not have the car I booked weeks ago, they resorted to quoting fine print of the agreement of what I "actually" booked. The attitude of the woman at the desk only made things worse, as I eventually elected to cancel the reservation altogether. Sixt just lost a previous loyal customer! Do yourself a favor and avoid Sixt and book through the other dozen rental car vendors at ABQ Airport.

First of all they didn't have the car we agreed to in the booking. Snow was expected and we wanted all wheel drive. We had to pay for an expensive upgrade to get another model that had all wheel drive. I returned the car and was later informed by email that there were scratches on the bumper. No damage happened to this vehicle while I had it. I usually take careful pictures of a vehicle before I take it out but we were late and I forgot this time. This whole damage thing seems like a scam to me. This was the second time I used Sixt. Had no issues the first time (different city). I will not be using them a third time. I should have reconsidered when I saw everyone getting a car from the other rental companies and we were the only ones at sixt. I even commented on that to my friend.

On day two of my rental, I received a notification on the dash that the brakes were faulty and it needed to be brought to a service center immediately. Upon scrolling through old notifications, it looks like there had been warning errors for seemingly multiple days or even weeks, but they were clearly not addressed in between rentals. When I called their service center, I was told that since I was too far away from the rental location, my only recourse was to bring it to an auto body shop myself. I requested a callback from someone else and never received it. Instead, days later a $50 voucher appeared in my inbox. When I returned the rental car at the end of my reservation, with luckily no issues of the brakes failing, I was told by the manager that I would be issued a two day refund. Two months later, I have still not received that refund and was told by the company that since they issued me a $50 voucher, I was no longer eligible for a refund. Of note, I did not ask for a voucher and haven't used it. Renter beware. They could in theory give you a car with faulty brakes and do nothing about it. And then when they try to make things right with you and promise you a refund, they will lie about that too.

Where to begin? I will start by saying this is the 2nd and absolutely last time I will get scammed and ripped off by Sixt. The first experience was a rental in Puerto Rico where, long story short, I was triple charged for a car rental. Obviously, a person wouldn't need to rent the same car 3 times on a trip, right? I fought with them for the reimbursement on the 2 extra charges and got nowhere. Ended up paying since they were not willing to budge. They threatened to ruin my credit multiple times. I took this up the ladder as far as I could. No resolution except to pay. August 2021. I should have learned my lesson, but the pricing for our last emergency trip was on point through Expedia. I booked the rental in December 2024. I purchased the insurance through Expedia's app. When we arrived at Sunport, Albuquerque, to pick up the car, all seemed normal. The lady at the desk was nice, but she definitely failed to be informative. I thought it was odd that she kept telling me to buy the highest cost insurance they have. Something seemed off about her pressure there. I thought maybe they would get a spiff or a commission for up sales. Ok, so she never explained anything about doing any sort of inspection or walk around on the vehicle. The car was brand new. 7000 miles ish. She handed me the keys and said, " it's out in the yard over there." And just pointed. I was already annoyed due to the fact that she couldn't even tell me which way to walk. I ended up pushing the panic button on the FOB to find it. Well, I did do a quick glance over the exterior. I noticed some scratches on the driver's side rear bumper. I thought nothing much about this. Seemed like normal wear. We returned the car the next day. I didn't say anything about the scratches. I assumed they knew about them because the person before me had done this or someone else. All of a sudden, I received an email from Sixt. They now are blaming me for the scratches! I wrote several emails explaining the situation and how I am not responsible since I didn't cause the damage. I spoke with a guy in the damage claims department, and I explained everything. I even went as far as asking him to pull up footage from the lot that would show that the damage was already there prior to my rental. He was so rude. Unwilling to listen or assist in any way. He refused to do anything about this. His response was, " you signed saying there was no damage, and you should have done a walk around." I expressed that I was not verbally informed of this. He said, " That is unfortunate for you Sir" I asked him to resend the pictures of the damage. He refused to do so. He said "pay the $733.00 or you will go to collections". I am very frustrated at this point. I paid the invoice but, fully knowing that I did not cause the damage, I decided to try and get some sort of reimbursement from Expedia since I did have their insurance. No response from them either. The whole situation is a setup. I believe the damage occurred in their lot. I believe the lady at the counter on January 8th, 2025, knew about the damage. The way she basically begged me to buy the biggest policy was so odd. Makes sense due to the fact that the previous renter was not held responsible, according to the guy on the phone, and I am 10000% that I did not cause the damage. I am asking and expecting someone higher up to call or respond to this review immediately for some sort of resolution. Even though I paid, that is not an admission of guilt. I did so to avoid having Sixt destroy my 825 credit score. 2 separate insurance policies, and I still had to pay $733.00??? For damage that I did not cause. Come on! Someone needs to help figure this out. I will be posting this same review everywhere that I possibly can until I get a response. Unbelievable situation here.
