The Malai kofta was sweet even though we had mentioned it to be spicy. The chicken was not good but the gravy was nice. The appetizers were really good especially the Bhel Puri. The ambiance is nice and the staff were friendly.

Excellent high quality Indian food and dining experience even during the pandemic. They were very cautious,  prompt with service and attentive to our needs. The ambiance was peaceful,  music and lighting set the mood and decor was beautiful as always.  The flavors and textures were impressive even to my Pakistani date. Highly recommend them!

We had chicken samosas and a combo platter that came out sizzling , spinach and cheese based dish,  basamati rice and garlic naan.

Update: have tried them multiple times in the past 3 years (only take outs). The food has been great!
It's Indian fine dining, the live music is a bit too loud IMO. The service was nice and the staff were friendly. The portions are big, they did bring small amounts of rice though, we had to ask for more.  Liked the samosas and the naan and the chicken shahi korma was good too.The food was not spicy at all, probably have to ask them to make it spicy when you order. It's a bit on the pricy side, dinner for two with one appetizer and one naan, came out to ~$60 with t&t.

This place is amazing. Came for the Sunday Lunch Buffet. Beautiful restaurant and fantastic food. Everything was great and will definitely come back. Wish i lived closer. This place should be packed but it wasn’t busy.

Delicious food and the management was great. I left something valuable at the restaurant, called back in two hours and they kept it for me.

Min fru och jag besökte NYC för ett bröllop och på en kall och snöig natt beslutade vi att gå över till Ashoka för att prova deras indiska mat. Vi har en favoritrestaurang, Himalayan Bistro i vårt Boston-kvarter och använder den som en jämförelse.

Vi tyckte omedelbart att Ashoka var mysig och välkomnande och var glada över att vi av misstag hade valt en kväll när de skulle ha livejazz - som tack och lov spelade med en perfekt bakgrundsvolym. Vi beställde blandade grönsaksfriter, kyckling tikka masala, zafrani gosht och poori.

Alla var utmärkta - kycklingen var lite mer tomat - ey och lite mindre krämig än vi är vana vid (min föredrar den krämiga och jag föredrog faktiskt denna tomat - ey version). Jag hade aldrig haft det så jag hade ingen grund för jämförelse men det var ganska bra (även om jag fortfarande föredrar min favorit lammrätt, vindaloo). Och frittersna var så bra som jag någonsin har haft, även om min fru tyckte dem var lite för kryddig.

Låt mig också notera att när NYC-restaurangprissättningen går är Ashoka ett fynd - inte mycket dyrare än vår lokala fave - även om $ 4 för en tepåse och lite varmt vatten verkar lite hög

Sammanfattningsvis tyckte jag att detta var en underbar indisk restaurang med vänlig och hjälpsam service utöver matens höga kvalitet. En mindre kritik - när min fru beställde kycklingen, begärde hon specifikt att den skulle vara så mild som möjligt. Och det var bra. Men servern borde kanske ha nämnt då att fritters var på den kryddig sida, och därmed ge oss möjlighet att beställa något annat (eller menyn kunde notera nivån på kryddighet för alla objekt). Andra än det, vi hade en fantastisk tid och tog en bra bit av vår middag hem med oss för att njuta av en andra gång. Vi skulle verkligen återvända om vi igen var i området.

Vi har varit i Ashoka 3 gånger, alltid till lunch på en helg. Deras lunch specialerbjudanden är stora. Rekommenderar särskilt vegetabiliska samosor och grönsaksfritterar för en aptitretare och kyckling tikka masala, lamm vindaloo och dal makhani för huvudrätten. Tjänsten är mycket uppmärksam

Efter att ha ätit på härliga platser runt Indien har jag försökt att replikera erfarenheten i New York restauranger. Ashokas känsliga, lagade kryddor i varje maträtt var en källa till glädje.

Som en Brit i New York har jag längtat efter en bra curry i flera månader. Titta inte längre, Ashoka levereras med aplomb. Maten är utsökt och vilken underbar personal. Jag rekommenderar Aloo Tikki att börja som vegetarian men pojkvännen säger att det inte finns något bättre än Lamb Kebab. Lunchen special är utmärkt värde. Högt rekommenderad.
