A Fantastic Dining Experience!

I had an absolutely delicious lunch here! The truffle fries were outstanding—crispy, flavorful, and a must-try. The atmosphere was wonderful, blending charm and history seamlessly, and the service was just as impressive. This spot has deep historical ties to a few founding fathers it is a must-visit for any history buff exploring NYC.

On top of the great food and ambiance, the staff went above and beyond. My cell service was spotty in the city, and after my meal, the hostess kindly helped me with directions. That level of hospitality truly made my experience even better. Highly recommend!

Really cool spot in the financial district.  Been around since 1762 and they have done a fantastic job preserving & fostering that upscale tavern vibe.

Tons of seating and 3 distinct bars to choose from, this is a fantastic place to stop, grab a drink, and vibe!

Would highly recommend the Presidential Punch, Manhattan, and espresso martini.  The fall drinks were okay, but their flagships are outstanding.

Food wise, KILLER.  Lobster Mac and Cheese is enough to feed 2 for dinner or 3-4 for an appetizer.  Fantastic spot, super cool, stop in and enjoy!

Such a cool, historical place!  We had stopped in here once on a tour and decided to come back to eat.  There are many rooms and alcoves plus at least 2 bars that I saw, so the atmosphere is different depending on where you are seated.  We were by the larger bar so it was a little loud, especially after the live music begin, right next to us.  But next time we will request seats in the quieter areas which looked very cozy:) The food was very good- fish and cjops and Tavern burger. But the best we had was the short rib flatbread,  which was spectacular!  Great place, we will be back!

Fraunces Tavern: Historic Bar & Restaurant in NYC

Verkligen speciell plats. Du kan se dig omkring och verkligen föreställa dig George Washington äta middag med sina män. Vi gjorde museet (inte middag/bar eftersom vi reser med barn).

Vi åkte hit för vår sons födelsedagslunch. Jag gjorde en bokning på nätet och satte i kommentarerna att vi skulle vilja ha ett pris på tårta som tas ut efter lunch för vår son. De glömde inte. Servern var bra. Öl var jättebra. Maten var fantastisk. Atmosfären var stor.

I mitt pensionerade liv som lärare ville jag åka tillbaka och i lugn och ro besöka platser jag tyckte om att ta med mina elever. Efter att ha sett museet många gånger ville jag sitta och ta några öl. Stämningen i krogen är mycket avslappnad. Atmosfären ger dig känslan av en historisk plats. De olika rummen är vackert inredda. Vissa rum kan ta dig tillbaka i tiden. Urvalet av öl är fantastiskt. Jag rekommenderar Samuel Fraunces Ale. Jag åtföljde den med en jumbo kringla. Att sitta där och dricka öl skickade fina minnen från de lektioner studenterna fick när de besökte museet. Varje New York-bo borde besöka den här krogen. Jag planerar att komma tillbaka och äta middag. Här är lite historia om platsen. 
Idag turister ser Fraunces som en restaurang och museum. De vet inte vad som finns inuti. Som en av Manhattans äldsta stående byggnader fungerade den en gång som högkvarter för general George Washington. Etiene Delancy (Gift med dotter till Van Cortlandt, Anne) byggde den nuvarande byggnaden som ett hus 1719 . Huset såldes senare till Samuel Fraunces som byggde om hemmet till en krog. Före revolutionen var huset en mötesplats för Frihetens söner. 1775 stal en studentmilis en kanon och sköt mot ett fartyg från Royal Navy i New Yorks hamn. Skeppet detaljhandelssköt genom att avfyra en 32 kanoner bredsida mot staden och skicka en kanonkula genom taket på krogen. När britterna evakuerade New York efter revolutionen återvände George Washington till Fraunces Tavern. Han åt sin avskedsmiddag med sina officerare i kontinentalarmén.

Oavsett om det är dags att frossa eller bara droppa in för en avslappnad hamburgare och pommes frites, är denna historiska krog väl värt ett besök. Vi bestämde oss för att hjälpa till att fira vår bröllopsdag genom att ta de finare erbjudandena från menyn. Råa ostron, cider och filé på en sten gjorde detta mycket speciellt. Eftersom stenen kokade förrätten till min belåtenhet, var det trevligt att koppla av och njuta av inställningen. Tillsammans med tryffelmos, svamp och lök var det en fest att skåda. ”Jag har aldrig sett någon, rengör deras tallrik så fullständigt” utropade vår server. Och jag var inte särskilt hungrig när jag kom.

Håller med andra. Kom förbi efter en konsert. Mindre än 10 personer på plats. Bartendern verkade irriterad över att han faktiskt var tvungen att göra mig en drink. Aldrig mer.

Pittoresk krog. Älskar känslan. Vi hade den bästa hummer / räkrulle för priset någonsin ( billigare än en hummerrulle ( 1 / 4 lb kött i Halifax, NS samma sommar) . NE mussel chowder är mycket bra också.

Vi hade en fantastisk upplevelse i pianoloungen på Fraunces Tavern. Stämningen och maten var fantastisk! Pianisten var extremt begåvad och han spelade alla låtar vår grupp efterfrågade. Vår servitris var trevlig och hjälpte oss att bestämma vad vi beställde att äta. Jag åt hummer och räkmac och ost som var smakrik och ganska god. Alla njöt av sina måltider och tyckte att menyutbudet var bra. Till efterrätt åt jag chokladmoussetårtan, och det var en bra avslutning på måltiden. Min familj var alla överens om att upplevelsen var väl värt kostnaden. Vi kommer definitivt att vara tillbaka på vår nästa resa till NYC eftersom det är en sådan unik restaurang.

En vän och jag satt i en stor matsal vid 17:00 för att ha en lugn måltid i denna historiska restaurang. Stämningen och Servicen var bra, men kvaliteten på maten var en stor besvikelse. Vi drack vin för 20 dollar . 00 per glas och hade en tallrik charkuterier och en hamburgare på $ 25. vardera. Charkuteriet hade några olika sorters ost, sylt, kex, lite mandel och röda druvor. Kvaliteten var inte vad du kan förvänta dig från denna historiska restaurang. Värst av allt var en översaltad gammal hamburgare som kan ha återuppvärmts från lunch, tillsammans med några gröna en två körsbärstomater. För en mer än $ 100 plus en dricks vi förväntade oss mycket bättre.

Vår server var professionell och tillmötesgående. Min filé Mignon på en platta var mer som en London broil over done . Jag klagade inte eftersom vi åt senare på kvällen 7 : 30 pm och de stängde (tidigt för NYC) Vi tog dessert att gå och det var fantastiskt!

Efter att ha besökt Frihetsgudinnan (och varit inne i Kronan: - ) och sedan Ellis Island kunde vi inte tänka oss en bättre plats att koppla av och ta en drink med Fraunces Tavern är så genomsyrad av historia och wow vi gjorde rätt val. Från det ögonblick vi gick in genom dörren var vi förvånad över inredningen, belysning, atmosfär och känsla av historia. Det fanns så många vinklar och vrår i barområdet samt utanför samt en whiskybar och även en historisk matsal. Vi tog plats i baren och serverades av en härlig vänlig irländsk kille som heter Luke och var så välkomna. Mrs Jock började med en kaffe (det hade varit en tidig start efter ankomsten till New York kvällen innan) och jag valde en öl från ett stort urval. Vi bara sög in atmosfären (bra musik också) och chattade bort till Luke (och varandra: - ) ) innan vi beställde mer drinkar. Vi bestämde då att vi gillade det så mycket att vi skulle äta lite lunch så Luke vinkade över damen som såg efter golvet och vi satt snart vid ett bord (vi höll oss till Independence Bar som vi bara älskade atmosfären). Mrs Jock gick för Mac and Cheese med Applewood Bacon som hon absolut älskade och jag gick för Chicken Pot Pie som var helt enorm samt utsökt och så mättande. Jag är så glad att vi inte beställde några sidor. Jag hade inte plats för efterrätt men Mrs Jock gick för choklad dessert när hon sa också träffa platsen. 
Vi älskade absolut denna taverna som var genomsyrad av historia med en fantastisk atmosfär, bra vänlig service, utsökt mat och ett stort urval av öl.

Besöker NYC från Holland för stadsresa. God mat och mycket rent/ snyggt ställe och toaletter. En i personalen var inte så vänlig, han skrek åt mig för att jag ställde en enkel fråga om soppan. Han pratade spanska med sin andra kollega och jag fick känslan av att de pratade om mig. Han ville ha mitt kreditkort på framsidan och höll fast vid det, vilket också är väldigt konstigt. Aldrig upplevt det förut här i NYC. . Egentligen ville jag ge mindre dricks men det fanns inte ens ett alternativ mindre än 20 %. Läste så många bra saker om det men jag kommer inte tillbaka på grund av personalens erfarenhet jag hade. Det är galet hur de förväntar sig dricks i USA men de förtjänar det inte.

Vi var verkligen glada att äta middag på en historisk plats på vår resa så jag bokade och vi gick ut ur vårt sätt att äta där. Efter att ha suttit i matsalen och spenderat $ 200 på middag och drinkar med service som kändes som om vi var en olägenhet, gick vi upp för att kolla in pianobaren. Det fanns en medioker pianospelare och vi fick veta om vi ville stanna, vi behövde var och en få 2 fler drinkar så vi lämnade. Jag tänkte skaffa en till, men två? Nej tack. Stämningen i baren på nedervåningen verkade kul och jag önskar att jag hade vetat att det var ett alternativ för middag istället. Detta kan vara en fantastisk plats men det var bara inte den erfarenhet vi hade.

Vi hade en mycket trevlig lunch här på en mycket grå dag. Mycket historisk plats naturligtvis, men maten var mycket bra. Väntade mig en turistfälla, men vi blev positivt överraskade. Även om du inte är hungrig, titta in för att se stället det är en njutning.

Räkan var ok, inte hög kvalitet. Bartendern var oförskämd. På frågan om en inhemsk öl jämförde han den med toalettvattnet. Hans humor var aggressiv & respektlös. Jag har rest till 25 länder & aldrig en enda gång var verbaliserad min check totalt & inte erbjuds min tryckta räkning. Upplevelsen var förolämpande & amatörmässig. Chefen behöver ha ett långt samtal med sin servitrispersonal.
