I booked this place because it looked very bright and clean online, and had used a decent bit of points for it. Location is good. The lobby is nice when I checked in. However, the front desk person provided zero additional information about the property when I checked in (e.g. where the fitness center is, is there coffee on premise, etc.). Also, there was an additional $80 hotel fee for two nights. Be careful of that when budgeting.Once I got off on my floor, the hallways gave off really spooky and depressing vibes. My room was very small and poorly lit. The windows do not do a good job at keeping heat in, there always a draft. Noise is terrible, you can hear everything and everyone. The shower light was out and the bathroom light was flickering. No hot water from the shower (it has been 30 degrees outside). House keeping knocked on my door at 8 am while I was getting ready and kept coming back even though I had a DND sign out front. Fitness center was nice. I personally think that if you want a great location hotel, and is relatively clean, this is a fit. However, I do not think that this is a 4-star hotel nor is it worth the price.

Only positive was that it was in a good location easily accessible to other places.

Room is not great and poorly designed the bed is about 3 inches away from the door so if opened whole corridor can see you, was much smaller than anticipated.

Had to pay deposit at check in which is fine but wasn't not pre warned about, so at my confusion was met with such attitude by the receptionist as though he did not have time to explain or for me to gather my card after a really long travel there from the UK. Did not give me any information when I checked in just handed me the key didn't even bother to point at the lifts, no information about facilities absolutely nothing.

Would not recommend or stay again.

I had a great stay. It was a perfect central location for all the places I needed to get by subway. Plenty to do at night in the area when I had to stay close to home. You're staying in a beautiful old hotel converted to an earlier style of boutique hotel, rooms are a little cramped. That you should be what you want if you're going to stay. Very very clean though which is the most important. Absolutely fantastic customer service. Shout out in particular to Javier who helped me with an issue with a room, and just provided fantastic service all visit. Will definitely be back.

This is the only hotel I stay at in NYC. The rooms are SO spacious  compared to larger chain hotels in the city. Love all the furniture, bathrooms, amenities. Always super clean and the location is fantastic. The rooftop, coffee shop, and restaurant attached to it are all genuinely good--you could do an entire day work of meals without even leaving.

Freehand New York was the most affordable option for my business trip in early December. The hotel is well located within walking distance to the 5th Avenue and most places downtown NY.
I had a tiny single room with its own bathroom and a small closet. It was comfortable enough for a few days in the city.

Negatives:
- The bed wasn't super comfortable with an old mattress.
- The window isn't isolated and it was cold.

Positives:
- The common areas of the hotel are great and the staff is very friendly.
- Special shout out to the guys who help with the luggage and taxis. They were both excellent at all times!

Bra mat, bra atmosfär, fantastisk personal, rimliga priser, fantastiskt läge! Åt en hamburgare som var superenkel men superb, jag brukar inte äta kött, men den här var värd det. Min partner åt tacos, och vi åt även avokado toasts som förrätt och en typisk mex dessert. Vi älskade allt, rekommenderas starkt! !

Gnocchi var bra. Tjänsten rusade oss eftersom de sa att vi bara hade bordet tills en viss tid. Det var en fullständig avstängning.

Gick för en tjejresa middag och jag rekommenderar starkt! Dela hamburgaren och en speciell - vit fiskjära tjära - båda var så läckra. En annan person beställde betasallad som såg vacker och läcker ut. Kroketterna är ett "måste"! Vi delade dem som en aptitretare, du måste prova dem!

Hade en lätt middag här och medan maten var acceptabel och smaklig akustiken kräver undersökning - mellan baren, musiken och diners röster är effekten ödesdigra - servitrisen ropade och så var vi bara för att få orderna in. Trendiga livlig och full - vi kunde inte prata eller höras vid vårt bord och vi var lätta att få kontrollen!

Även om denna restaurang är en tad på dyr sida, maten är mycket bra. Gillade också atmosfären och tjänsten var härlig.

Atmosfären är bra. Tjänsten var bra. Men förväntat mycket mer för kostnaden. Hade fisken - som hade ingen smak alls än stora mängder peppar på det som utplånade allt. Smutsiga marker. Sammantaget ganska en illamående måltid - nedslående. Skulle inte rekommendera.

Denna lilla boutique restaurang i ett Lexington Avenue Hotel var en komplett Sök. Vi var där för en födelsedag och kvällen gjordes mycket speciell. Inredningen var härlig. Maten och waitstaff var exceptionella. Servitören visste sitt vin och lovade för alla vid bordet att smaka innan hälla vilket var en fin touch. Disken var helt förklarad. Musslor och svampar (separata aptitretare) var läckra. Vårt parti åt anden med rödkål och bäcköring med salify. Varje maträtt var beredd vackert. Dessert var en fantastisk ananas ostkaka, när den serverades utan ett ljus (en annan servitör som försökte hjälpa) det var skopat upp och representerade med ett stort leende och glasögon Prosecco. Bakverkskocken ska vara vinnande utmärkelser om de inte redan är. Kvällen var så trevlig vi har berättat alla vi träffade de senaste 24 timmarna om platsen och kommer fortsätta att göra det. Menyn är definitivt annorlunda så jag föreslår att du granskar det innan du går. Förvänta dig inte att normen du vill hitta den här, och om du är i New York, varför skulle du vilja ha det! Tack Simon och Whale för att göra denna födelsedagsfest mycket speciell.

Mysig restaurang som låg på nedre plan på hotellet vi bodde på. Servicen var på topp och personalen trevlig. Maten var riktigt god men när notan kom och ett glas vin och en öl kostade 16 respektive 14USD kändes de lite väl dyrt. Maten kostade som den förtjänade och som den kostar här för lite finare mat. Rekommenderar ändå stället! 

Jag hade stor tid på Simon & the Whale. Restaurangen är mysig, trevlig och vänlig, och maten är utsökt. Jag tror att jag hade den bästa endiva salladen här. Och desserter var smaskiga. Kommer definitivt komma tillbaka.

Hade en tidig middag (efter att ha kämpat för att hitta en bokningsplats nästan en vecka i förväg). Som andra har sagt är priserna rimliga jämfört med andra restauranger som erbjuder liknande typer av menyer i området.

Utseendet på platsen är ganska coolt - snyggt stiliserat inredning och avslappnad atmosfär. Personal vänliga och uppmärksamma. Att vara så populär menade att vi var rusade genom måltiden men - inte på ett oförskämd sätt, mer på en "effektiv" sätt. Kontrollen togs oss ganska snabbt efter avslutad öken som är en första för mig personligen på Manhattan!

Mat var bra - vi hade fisk smörgås och burger. Massor av Björn fries! Båda var läckra, kokta precis rätt och väl presenteras (liksom burger & marker kan vara). För öknen hade jag pundskakan - var lite besviken över att inte hitta någonting mycket chocolatey vilket är anledningen till att jag plumped för detta. Det var lite nedslående att vara ärlig - kakan var torr och chartreuse cream hade inte mycket smak. Jordgubbarna var dock fantastiska!

Definitivt skulle rekommendera och skulle överväga att gå igen - bara förvänta dig inte att bli blåst bort!
