Lovely brunch with friends. Excellent service and restaurant is comfortable and not too loud. Would have preferred some additional menu choices—I had the schnitzel and enjoyed it with the accompanying sauces. Apple strudel with a scoop of ice cream was an excellent ending—warm and lemony

My friend and I stopped by for a weekend brunch recently - we didn't have a reservation but there were plenty of tables open for us. (Seems they might be more of a dinner place). The ambiance is very nice - not too loud - and the decor feels very casually elegant.

We started with a duck liver parfait. The brioche was really delicious - light, fluffy, and buttery, and it paired wonderfully with the richer and savoury flavours of the duck. I do wish they gave a bit more bread, the parfait was really delicious, but a little too heavy to eat just by itself, and the ratio of duck to bread was a little skewed (in our opinion) haha.

We also ordered the Ei im Glass - also fantastic, although the pedant in me wants to note that there were technically two eggs. Anyways, the poached eggs were cooked perfectly with a deliciously runny yolk, and the Hollandaise was really excellent. I'd definitely recommend this, it was a really authentic representation of a classic Viennese dish.

The schnitzel was good, but didn't shine as much. I think the biggest flaw was the breading, which felt a bit light and airy. The pork itself was tasty, and I really, really adored the potato salad, which was cooked to a perfect tenderness and paired with a lovely creamy sauce.

Finally we shared the apple strudel. The apple flavour was really fresh and paired nicely with the cinnamon, but I did feel that the pastry was a little bit soggier than I would have liked -- I fear it didn't quite have that classic flakiness.

In any case, it was a super yummy meal all around, and price point was honestly quite reasonable (and better than I expected given the quality of food). I'd be keen to come back to give their dinner menu a try!

I had a great time dining at Koloman. It was a nice atmosphere and the service was excellent. Wait staff were very friendly and kind.

It was restaurant week and there were two menus for dinner, a RW one and their main menu. It was nice that one could do the three course RW option, and another person could do a la carte on the regular menu. We preferred the options on the main menu and shared table bread, two appetizers, two entrees and a dessert which we found was enough food for two, although an extra dish wouldn’t have been bad either. It seems like they occasionally change up the menu, there was no Salmon en Croute that other reviewers raved about, which we had wanted to try.

For food, we started with the Gougeres, a cheesy bread with a mild horseradish butter spread on the side which was very nice. It reminded me of the Brazilian steakhouse cheese bread but deeper savory flavors. It came in 3 pieces for the table, not pictured. For apps, we got the Duck Liver Parfait which the waitress kindly let us know was to be whipped and spread on a brioche toast. Very rich and flavorful. We also shared the Cheese Soufflé which had strong savory flavors too. Overall great flavors but a touch salty and I found myself reaching for water. For mains, we had the Schnitzel Viennoise and the Duck Breast. The roasted duck breast was the dish of the night and cooked very well, and I highly recommend it. Schnitzel was decent, it was a flattened veal, breaded and fried, but I probably wouldn’t order it again because at the end of the day, it just reminded me of a breaded chicken cutlet with some acidic potato side salad. Dessert was great, we shared the Savarin au Rhum, which was a rum soaked cake covered in intricate apple slices with a vanilla bean chantilly cream.

Restrooms require a card key from the front staff, and the restrooms are located next door at the hotel’s basement. A tiny bit inconvenient but I can respect the real estate limitations in NYC.

Overall a great experience both in terms of food and service. Bill runs you about $100 per person. I would reorder mostly everything if I were to return.

I had a great time at Koloman. The food and service were outstanding, and our waiter kept checking in to ensure we were all right. The chicken was the highlight, though. It tasted like a family recipe. Overall, it was a great experience.

My mother and i visited the restaurant a few days ago to enjoy restaurant week dinner and regular menu.

For appetizers we shared beet salad, tuna carpaccio and duck liver parfait. The combination was perfect together with softness of tuna, crunch from crispy quinoa and slightly crunchy texture of beets. Also saltiness and richness of tuna was perfectly balanced with beets. Herb sauce was adding a delicate touch to the whole combination.

My mother was blown away by duck liver parfait. She actually named Koloman’s duck liver parfait as one of the best dishes she’d had in New York! She liked the combination of soft and creamy duck with sweet kracher gelée.

With our food my mother was getting wine - Champagne, Riesling and then it was red wine le Medoc de Cos. I tried all of them - Champagne was very light, crisp and refreshing, Riesling was light and slightly fruity with peach tones. Red wine had a lot of tannins, had a full body, it was my mother’s favorite wine.

I was getting cocktails. My first one was Apricot sour served up, second one was Emma Goldman. Apricot sour was perfectly balanced, airy and light, it was beautifully decorated. My mother is not into cocktails but she enjoyed it a lot! Emma Goldman had that beautiful presentation with smoke. The flavor profile was amazing! I am not really a whisky person, more of a curious soul who likes trying new things, i loved the cocktail and the glass it was served in. My mother liked the cocktail as well as the spirits created a great flavor profile.

For entrees we chose duck from regular menu and steak from the restaurant week.
Great textures. Sauces that duck was served with were as flavorful and colorful as you can imagine. We liked butter with herbs that was placed over steak - a perfect accompaniment to the dish. Fries were perfection!

For dessert we got Savarin au Rhum and strudel. I loved how soaked and full of flavor Savarin was and the crispiness of strudel served with a scoop of delicious ice cream. My mom tried my dessert but focused on Strudel. We were in Austria and tried a lot of Strudels there and she was really brought to our fun travel memories with this exceptional dessert.

Koloman Restaurant in NYC - Modern Dining in Manhattan

Bry dig inte om att gå, mycket slapp på service, inte vänlig, ganska arrogant faktiskt. Glöm schnitzeln, bokstavligen papper tunt kött. Kökspersonalen använder inte handskar till något, går från råa ägg till bröd till det råa köttet, mycket sorgligt.

Jag bad om en laxbagel med kapris som kom utan kapris. När jag frågade fick jag veta att de tagit slut. Sen provade jag laxen på bageln och brödet var hårt och smaklöst, inget som en bagel. 
Min sambo hade en väldigt sorglig cheeseburgare på en bulle som var lika smaklös (men inte hård) som min bagel. 
När jag lämnade tillbaka min maträtt oäten förutom en tugga och nämnde för servitrisen att den var riktigt undermålig fick jag inga ursäkter, bara en “köket tog slut på kapris” och “vi får färskt bröd varje dag” och hon vände sig om och gick. Till slut kom räkningen utan kostnad för min maträtt, vilket jag var tacksam för, men jag skulle ha uppskattat lite trevlighet när jag var tvungen att kommentera min tallrik. Jag gillar verkligen inte att behöva klaga på mat på restauranger, det förstör liksom humöret. 
Hur som helst, jag skulle inte rekommendera denna plats, åtminstone inte för sin brunch eller dess service. 
Deras pommes frites var dock mycket goda.

Jag var stamkund på kocken Markus Glockers tidigare restaurang, Bâtard, i TriBeCa. Tyvärr satte pandemin stopp för min långa rad av underbara middagar där. När min resa till NYC återvände post - pandemi var jag glad att återigen njuta av hans blandning av wiensk sofistikering och franska tekniker. Jag har nu ätit på Koloman ett tiotal gånger, provsmakat mycket av menyn och sett utvecklingen i både maten och servicen. 

Koloman ger extremt hög - kvalitet mat i en sofistikerad men inte alltför - fancy / stuffig atmosfär. Ombyggnaden som gjordes efter att de ersatte Breslin ger lite deco och jugendstil. Baren är en speciell utstickare med sin gigantiska klocka och mässing accenter. Beroende på var du sitter kan ljudnivån vara ganska hög en hektisk fredag, men för det mesta är den måttlig. 

Stå ut - ut rätter inkluderar signatur lax en croute, som behåller kärnstyrkan i perfekt - tillagad fisk samtidigt som den ger visuell känsla och kontrasterande crunch. Skölpar (med schalottenlöksfyllning, om jag minns rätt) är en perfekt start på varje måltid. Schnitzeln gjorde sin väg från Bâtard och kommer fortfarande med en härlig duo av lingonsåser och havtornssåser (jag tycker att kocken på denna kan vara lite varierande ibland, paneringen blir ibland lite lös/oljig). Jag uppskattar faktiskt att schnitzeln inte är helt överväldigande i storlek, som de ofta är, så att jag kan njuta av andra rätter vid sidan av den. Kycklingen, i dess olika inkarnationer, är ärligt talat i stort sett den enda kyckling jag kommer att beställa på restaurang. Jag är inte anti - kyckling, men jag känner att jag har bemästrat det hemma, eller åtminstone trodde jag att jag hade tills jag åt det på Koloman. 

Min favoriträtt på menyn kan faktiskt vara sellerirotstartarten; jag måste kämpa med mig själv för att prova något annat, och det är vad jag alltid rekommenderar när nya gäster frågar vad de ska börja med. Den har en perfekt syra - salt - bitter - söt balans som gör att jag vill ha en hel deli behållare med grejer. Jag åt den nya växtbaserade menyn på Elva Madison Park häromkvällen och allt jag kunde tänka på var hur mycket bättre en grönsaksrätt Koloman gör än 90 % av vad som erbjuds på den där tre Michelin-restaurangen. 

Desserter inkluderar ofta österrikiska klassiker som Esterházy torte och äppelstrudel. Ankäggscrème brûlée lyckas på något sätt vara både otroligt rik samtidigt som den är tillräckligt lätt för att halsduka ner; det är nog min favoritversion av rätten, som ersätter den jag brukade ha på John Besh’s Lüke. Min personliga favorit är Lübeckmarsipanen. Den har den mest tillfredsställande tuggan, och jag har varit känd för att få en att gå för att tjäna som nästa morgons frukost på mitt hotell. 

En osttallrik lades nyligen till på dessertmenyn (jag kan inte ta åt mig äran, men jag hade frågat upprepade gånger efter att ha ätit så mycket av det på Bâtard) , och den bleu jag åt häromkvällen tillsammans med (gelerade? ) honungs- och sockervaddsdruvor var den perfekta avslutningen på en härlig måltid med vänner. 

Vinlistan speglar ett kvardröjande fokus på Bourgogne och Champagne men innehåller också massor av andra udda europeiska val och (av uppenbara skäl) en av de djupaste österrikiska listorna i staden. Nuvarande somm Max och hans föregångare Hanna har båda guidat mig till underbara rekommendationer och hjälpt väl i att upprätthålla budgeten när det behövs. 

Servicen på Koloman har varit vänlig och effektiv, och jag har märkt en viss förbättring under de senaste ett och ett halvt åren också, kanske en återspegling av att komma in i ”spåret” och bygga en bänk med mer erfaren personal. Förutom de tidigare nämnda somms, skulle jag vara försumlig om jag inte nämnde Angélica, min flera gånger server som har hjälpt mig att hantera oväntat - vegan gamla vänner, semi - besvärliga affärsmåltider och solo - matsal oaser. Hennes kunskap om menyn och förmågan att anpassa sin leverans till stämningen vid bordet har varit mycket värdefull för att ge alla mina olika gäster en bekväm och minnesvärd kväll. Ett hjärtligt tack till henne och all personal!

Koloman är en vild, underbar resa rakt in i hjärtat av kulinariska nirvana. Undangömt i galenskapen i New York City är det en fristad där kaoset lämnar plats för något förbannat nära andligt. Max, sommelieren — ett galet geni med en fallenhet för att hälla flytande poesi — leder dig ner i ett kaninhål av viner som dansar på gränsen till galenskap och briljans. Mannen vet sin juice, och han är inte rädd för att leda dig in i det djupa slutet. 

Men låt oss prata om schnitzeln. Det här är inte vilken schnitzel som helst – det är den schnitzel som andra drömmer mardrömmar om. Det är så perfekt krispigt, mört och skandalöst gott att du kommer att ifrågasätta alla andra schnitzel du någonsin har ätit. Resten av menyn är heller ingen slouch, en parad av smaker som får dig att vilja kasta huvudet tillbaka och yla mot månen. Koloman är ett sällsynt odjur – en plats där mat, vin och människor möts i en härlig, harmonisk racket. Om du inte har varit där går du miste om en av stadens finaste åkturer.

Bokas här för en jubileumsmåltid på grundval av en brittisk tidning reviwers recension. 
På det hela taget, matmässigt det gjorde ingen besviken - min terrine var mycket trevligt men lite för kallt, lax en croute var utsökt men behövde mer sås, amish kyckling var utsökt också men behöver mer icke - kyckling/grönsaker. "Souffle" var en intressant tolkning av den genren. 
Men atmosfären? Jag föredrar verkligen att kunna se vad jag äter framför att söka mig fram via punktskrift. Och att kunna prata med/höra min fru på andra sidan bordet hade varit trevligt också. 
Fick även ringa servitören över efter att min förrätt hade kommit för att vi skulle beställa vin. Och jubileumskortet & ljuset en fin touch men puddingservitrisen önskade oss/någon en "Grattis på födelsedagen" 🙄

Min man, son, hans flickvän och jag åt middag på Koloman. Det var en speciell händelse för oss, så bara en speciell restaurang skulle göra. Maten var utsökt som förväntat. Vi åt ostron, ostsufflé, ankparfait, 
Berömda Salmon en Croute plus vin och öknar. Alla En stjärna på Michelin värdig. 
Tjänsten var dock under par.Vår servitör , en mycket lång ung man, var inte på humör för att betala oss någon uppmärksamhet. Mycket roligare att prata med sina kollegor. 
Äntligen måste någon ha skickat över honom till oss med menyerna. 
Sommelieren rekommenderade ett mycket trevligt vin - tack. 
Sedan beställde jag en Cosmopolitan Martini från den långa unga servitören och till min förvåning visste han inte vad det var, han började gräla med mig. 
Verkligen, om jag inte hade varit med min familj skulle jag ha frågat efter chefen, men varför förstöra en vacker kväll på grund av denna pajas. 
Till slut tog han med en drink som inte var beställd och jag lämnade tillbaka den. Tydligen baren kan bara göra de fyra eller så cocktails som finns på menyn... . 
Jag ger denna restaurang fyra stjärnor för maten, men i jämförelse med andra Michelin Star restauranger jag har ätit på, kommer den stjärnan att tas bort på grund av oprofessionell service.
