It was a bucket list item to check Le Bernardin off my list and it did not disappoint!
The dining room is classic and grand.
We selected the tasting menu which is entirely fish, my husband got the wine pairing as well.
The bread basket is a delight, including baguette, buttery rolls and more.
Each item was delicious, very thoroughly architected and looked beautiful on our plates. I was surprised that the wine pairing included red wines as that wouldn't normally pair with fish but some of the latter dishes are quite meaty.
I loved the lobster, the salmon caviar, and the prawn.
For me, dessert was one of the highlights - the chocolate tart with Peruvian Chocolate. It was so decadent and beautifully crafted with shards and tempered nicely so it glistened.
My only disappointment was the service didn't always meet the same level that you would expect from a three Michelin starred place. We've dined at other 3 star places and the service was inconsistent with each course when they plated the meals and poured the sauce. Once we were also waiting until half way through the dish before the wine pairing was served, when it should be served before each dish.

I will preface the review with, I have not been to many of any Michelin starred restaurants before that I am aware of.  That said I have dined at high quality restaurants around the world. Le Bernardin has the reputation that causes high hopes and perhaps unrealistic dreams.  Was the fish cooked perfectly? I dare say it was. Was the texture of the dishes very nice and delicate? Yes the softness, not mushiness, was notable with each bite. Were any dishes sublime or even orgasmic? Unfortunately, I dare say they were not, but they were not bad... The reality that I came to was despite the great service and technical cooking proficiency the expectations from a year after year 3 Michelin star restaurant was not there.  Probably it is not the restaurants fault and rather that I am accustomed to more complex flavors and this menu is not designed with my palette in mind.

The biggest ding I had with my experience there was the use of Resy which felt like a Ford Pinto style used on a proclaimed Ferrari. I unfortunately had technical issues which resulted in me trying numerous times to contact Resy and Le Bernardin reservations line.  The restaurant's reservation line was good but only once I was able to reach a person on the phone after several weeks.  Again back to expectations... I put Michelin restaurants on a pedestal and probably as a result was let down to the expected level of service.

Finally, I did not find the acoustics of the restaurant to be very good and think there is room to improve the setting to be better for conversation or less buzzing as customers try to talk over one another.

Did I like Le Bernardin, yes. Do I think it was the best restaurant, food, or experience... Regrettably no.  Should you try it if you have the opportunity? Yes. Should you do so without projecting false expectations... Yes I would encourage lowering expectations and being realistic on the restaurant.

Good food, well cooked, but not a life changing experience.

Definitely overrated, first time here not service was sad. Had better in a 3 star restaurant. I asked one of the servers as mine (tall bald white man) was away, her suggestions. She have nice feedback, then my server came back and saw i spoke to her telling me that she has no idea what she is talking about that her mind is small as she's been here for a week and he's been here for a week and a half... food was good not worth the price.
Cheese plate was the saddest 44$ extra. Absolutely sad, asked the server about the cheeses and said I could get most at my local supermarket... what a joke. Could've said it was local or from a farm. Best dishes was the free appetizer and dessert apart of the prefix

My husband booked a special "birthday" lunch for our NYC trip. We arrived a little before our 12pm booking and the dining room had seated 2 tables (a couple and a party of 3). Immediately you notice the cool air, high ceilings, low lighting and large medallion "necklaces" worn by the sommeliers. (at least 3 spotted) We chose the smaller tasting menu. The wine pairing recommendations were great. The bread basket presentation and choices were delightful. The raw and lightly cooked dishes were interesting and satisfying. The service staff balanced being there when you wanted something and being inconspicuous (near walls and doorways) when not in customer service mode. I ended up buying the Seafood Simple book after tasting the menu here.  Thank you for a wonderful dining experience and for making my birthday special.

Desserts were really good (especially the chocolate one) and the brioche was probably some of the best brioche I’ve ever had.

Staff was nice and professional but the overall decor of the dining room seemed a little outdated - still nice though.

There was a lot of food in the tasting menu, generally food was expertly cooked but some were salty.

Worth trying once but probably will not come back again.
