I had an right side Inguinal Hernia repair surgery back in 2014 and developed recurring abscesses due to the mesh that was used that my body has been rejecting. I have been seen by doctors not only where my fiance resides in Bridgeport, CT. but at Montefiore medical center in the Bronx as well. I have never been treated with the respect , courtesy, and understanding that I received not only from the staff but by Dr. Phillip George as well. I greatly appreciated his full understanding of my condition and assessment to treat me. After many weeks of research, I decided that I wanted a pure-tissue Shouldice inguinal (groin) hernia repair with absorbable sutures that's especially suitable for athletes. I called many surgeons in Queens and then Manhattan and found that almost everyone did either open or laparoscopic mesh repairs. I definitely did not want potential long-term complications from foreign objects like plastic mesh or 3 small holes in my abdomen from a laparoscopic procedure that might lay the foundation for future incisional hernias. Avoiding the mesh means I never have to worry about another surgery to take it out ;)

I finally found Dr. Philip George and was pleasantly surprised that he has a lot of experience with pure-tissue Shouldice hernia repairs and does them with Maxon absorbable sutures! Very refreshing to encounter a surgeon who keeps up to date with the latest research and incorporates verified results to achieve optimal surgical outcomes for his patients. He also has an amazing support team that includes reception, nurses, and surgical assistants. When it comes to hernia repairs, I believe that I found a rare jewel in the New York crown of high-quality surgeons with Dr. Philip George. I'm very grateful to him and his outstanding team!

I would like to share my experience with Dr. George and his amazing staff.  I’ll tell you a little bit about my scary story.  For about two years, I was going through a terrible ordeal with nausea, stomach pain, dizziness and even vomiting.  I was barely able to retain any food in my stomach. While some doctors thought it was a stomach hernia, others thought it was just a case of acid reflux.  That being said, I’m glad I went to see Dr. George whom after various tests and X-rays determined that I had an esophageal hernia, which was slowly destroying my esophagus. With nothing else to think about except to get better.  I decided to go for surgery. I’m happy to say that in April 2024, I underwent surgery to repair the esophageal hernia.  While post surgery was painful, it’s all worth it because all my pain & suffering is gone. It’s now 5 months post surgery and I am feeling great. I can eat anything and everything and feel no pain or discomfort. Thank you Dr. George for helping me feel better. I’m extremely grateful to you and also your caring & professional staff. And many thanks to your caring & thoughtful nurse Victoria who called and checked in with me post surgery. Thanks to the whole team for all the great work and dedication with your patients. You’re all amazing.

Dr. George is excellent in every way - personable, honest, great communicator, responsive, and, first and foremost, wonderful at what he does. I just had surgery performed by him and felt totally confident that all would go well - and it did. Highly recommended.

Dr. Philip George performed the Shouldice (non-mesh) method to correct my inguinal hernia, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. Before the operation, Dr. George gave me the choice of three different surgical options (Shouldice method without mesh, open surgery with mesh, laparoscopic with mesh), and clearly and patiently explained the pros and cons from each choice which helped me arrive at a decision. I am now 3 weeks post-operation, and the surgery appears to have been a complete success without any more hernia pain, bulge, or complications aside from some short-term healing form the surgery. Dr. George's kindness and professionalism throughout the process were truly appreciated. I highly recommend him for anyone considering hernia surgery.
