I couldn’t get into Gallagher’s for lunch so I ended up here. I didn’t even know this location existed, since I still thought the 2nd avenue location was still around. RIP.

The restaurant was 90% empty at lunch. I call that a bonus because I’m not into eating with the herd. Service was attentive, friendly and steakhouse professional, less gruff than say Peter Luger’s or Keens.

Their steak isn’t dry aged, it’s wet aged. Not a fan of the taste but they cook to temp well. Also, their steak is heavily salted, so you’ve been warned.

Adult beverages are well crafted and $$$ ($20 +)

Everything else was up and down. Their lobster bisque is very good. Burger was average. Fries- superb. Skip the cheesecake.

I have fond memories of the original location when the adults in my life took me there as a young pup. It’s night and day from that environment, but that was a different time and a much different NYC. *Sigh*

Note to my future self: It’s a great spot for a cocktail pit stop. It’s also great if you’re not a real lover of dry aged steak and would rather have an intimate but quiet lunch. The end.

I stopped in on a Saturday before heading to a show across the street. I was looking for something light to eat as I wasn’t super hungry for a heavy meal. I sat at the bar and ordered a $19 Peachy Keene cocktail. While the idea seemed nice, there was something in it that had a sharp bite that very much contrasted with the sweetness of the peach. Maybe it was a heavy hand with one ingredient or a light hand with another, but that was not what I was expecting from a Prosecco based cocktail. The lobster bisque was served table side- a bowl with a tablespoon of finely chopped lobster meet and a small gravy dish that the soup was poured from. It was very tasty.

I ordered an appetizer portion of their sea scallops with pastina (a special I presume) and was greatly dissatisfied. The pastina was at the bottom mixed with a tomato based sauce with the scallops on top. There was a garlic oil or dressing that was layered on top of everything that just made the entire plate too rich and heavy. I think it would have been fine had there been less oil but my plate was just swimming with it and I could not finish it after 2 bites.

I may return if I’m ever in the area and need a last minute place to pass the time, but I would probably look for other restaurants in the area first.

Good place to go near the teater district and near Rockefeller. The service was fast, and the food was good. Second time going and would recommend seafood. The steaks are ok. Doesn't get too crowded. Was able to both time Friday dinner walkin and get seated. Little bit on the pricier side for quantity and quality.
