Klassisk gammal NYC pub med massor av historia. Utmärkt mat - mycket bättre än typisk pub mat. Vi hade cheeseburgare ($ 20 ) och IT slår cheeseburgare på de flesta andra barer/pubar. Den varma & kryddig vitlök räkor aptitretare ($ 15 ) var utmärkt, liksom grillad lax middag ($ 21 ) . Levande musik (kolla schemat online. ) . Trångt och högt.

Åkte till Ear Inn den 29 september 2024 med 5 killar, på besök från Kanada. Denna plats rekommenderades till oss av Pauls Casablanca att ha några drinkar och snacks tills de fick upptagen den natten. Stället var inte särskilt upptagen. Vi satt längst bak. Väntar på vår server i minst 15 minuter. Så min vän gick till baren för att köpa oss en runda drinkar. Väntade ytterligare 10 minuter att ens få menyer. När vi väl beställde började det äntligen rulla. Vi hade flera servrar som tittade till oss och tog fram mat och cocktails. Vi var där en kort tid när vi var på väg till Paul Casablanca. Jag gick upp för att betala hela notan som en njutning till gruppen när de ätit upp sina cocktails och jag väntade utanför. Jag märkte den manliga servern gestikulera till vårt bord och verkade besviken. Jag kom tillbaka till restaurangen och en server mötte mig vid ingången med notan och konfronterade mig med, "VAR DET NÅGOT FEL MED SERVICEN!" i en HÅRD TON! Utan att vara alltför slipande rådde jag honom att det var bara OK (Meh! ). Han fortsatte med att berätta för mig att STANDARD TIP var ~ 20 - 22 % och var missnöjd över vad jag lämnade honom som var 15 %. Jag känner mig som en förnuftig person. Jag förstår att det är tuffa tider där ute. Jag förstår att servrar är beroende av sina tips för att kompensera för sin lön MEN tipset antyder min uppskattning för den tjänst som ges. Om restaurangens standard är 20 % eller högre ska det inte finnas någon "anpassa" eller "annan" knapp och jag känner som mecenat att jag ska kunna ändra den. Varför skulle jag ge dig 20% om du ger HEMSK service. Om maten var hemsk men du gav bra service, skulle mitt tips återspegla det. TIPS Kulturen förändras och "Förväntan" på ett anständigt tips för bristen på ansträngning är brutal och det återspeglar dåligt på etablissemanget. Vi kommer inte tillbaka!

Vi stannade bara i för drycker men vad en plats - full av charm och historia, en riktig pub / inn utan förevändningar. Gamla baren nere vid vattnet! Vi hade hamburgare och pommes frites i baren till lunch och åtnjöt baren och dess ursprungliga ära. Detta var en stor förändring i takt från det liv och rörelsen i New Yorks livliga gator.

Bo i Soho, jag kom precis över Ear Inn med fullständig olycka. Joe, barman, var oerhört välkomnande och gav mig möjlighet att byta kanaler på fjärrkontrollen för att se ett levande NFL-spel. Superb öl, superb mat och möjlighet att titta på ett levande spel och chatta med baren personal gjorde min kväll. Senare på kvällen kom ett jazzband upp för att leka (det verkade ad lib) men deras prestanda var otroligt meningsfullt, för att Joe skulle ha det bra och jag fick köpa ett par mer öl.

Så det här är NYC: s äldsta ständigt fungerande bar och det ser ut att platsen aldrig har renoverats. Vi åkte med en stor grupp och servitören gjorde ett bra jobb att hantera oss. Många av oss hade hamburgare, men de som vågade till andra rätter var väldigt glada. Anka confit såg bra ut. Det finns en negativ: platsen är gammal och du fångar lukt från badrummet.

Vad trevligt. Otroligt personal, super mat, dryck serveras perfekt, satt i baren och bara haft upplevelsen. Casual, attentiv och allt som går med det plus den bästa smörgåsen i veckan serveras med en cider. Jag skulle nu alltid göra ett besök här när jag besöker NYC. Tack.
