Cielito Lindo took over the former Ai Lihaaz space serving tacos, burritos, enchiladas, tortas, tostadas, and other Mexican speciaty items, plus Jarritos, Coke, horchata and fruit juices. The space has not changed much since a year ago when Ai Lihaaz was here, same cooler, glass display case (empty now), tables & chairs and decor. There is a TV with Roku on the wall playing Mexican music. I stopped by for takeout and ordered FIsh Tacos (3 for $9.99 plus tax) which took about 15 minutes to be ready and bagged when I was here around noon. The fish tacos had salted grilled whitefish, onions, cilantro in warm soft tortillas radishes and limes on the side. These tacos were simple and tasty and enough food for an informal lunch.

I normally tried to avoid reviewing new small places that I don't really like, but this meal had some pretty notable issues. We ordered takeout. I was excited to try the pozole, a weekend special, which was hot and tasty with lots of chicken on top but somewhat underseasoned to my taste. They were out of the barbacoa, which I'd also wanted to try, and the enchiladas I got instead were a disappointment. They were somehow unfilled, just saucy tortillas with a few strips of grilled beef strewn on top. I'd chalk that up to me potentially confusing the person who I spoke to when they called about the missing barbacoa (I don't speak Spanish and dithered a little over what I wanted) but they were also underseasoned and arrived very cold. The major issue, though, was the Jamaica Agua fresca. I took one sip and was hit with an overwhelming taste of some kind of cleanser or detergent. I've had Jamaica agua fresca dozens of times in other places and have never tasted anything like this, so I know it wasn't just me not liking this particular flavor. My guess is that whatever container they'd made it in was washed with a scented dish soap but not rinsed thoroughly. I might otherwise have been willing to give this place another shot, but the detergent-flavored drink means I'd be leery about visiting here again.
