We came to Aska for a birthday celebration after overcoming a really difficult year. We chose the dinner tasting menu with the wine pairing. From the get-go, the restaurant is dark with lights above the table, pulling focus to the food. Minimalistic restaurant but absolutely stunning. From start to finish, every single dish was meticulously and thoughtfully prepared. The chefs would bring each dish to our table, explain where each ingredient was sourced from and how the food was prepared. Not only was the food absolutely delicious and fresh, it was incredibly aesthetically pleasing. The servers were incredibly attentive and knew the menu well as we asked varying people questions of the menu, ingredients, and preparation. They also were aware of the birthday celebration and brought out a mousse cake for the birthday celebrant! The desserts were absolutely delicious as well! At the end of the night, we received a menu with all the wines and courses (with ingredients and preparation) listed out.

My only recommendation is that the scallop dish and the trout dish could use some decoration in the plating. Other than that, this was an absolutely excellent meal. 10/10 would recommend highly

It’s rare to find a place that embraces Nordic cuisine so authentically, and my only prior experience was, admittedly, IKEA! But Aska took it to an entirely different level, with each dish crafted like a piece of art. The seafood focus was perfect, bringing out the freshness and depth of Northern Europe. Every plate was a visual delight and packed with unique flavors that stayed with me.

The staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more knowledgeable, guiding us through each course with care and insight. If I had one wish, it would be for slightly larger portions, especially at a Michelin-starred restaurant. But the creativity and attention to detail here made it worth every bite. Aska is a memorable experience that transports you straight to the heart of Scandinavia!

The food, presentation, tableware, and service were impeccable. A lot of attention to detail. Best bread I've had in years, helped along by the smooth pine/mushroom butter. I'd say about half of the 12 courses were exceptional and memorable, the rest still excellent. An innovative mocktail concept, and an amazing desert wine.

Small nitpicks:
- They could refine their choices for background music to better match the simple and dark aesthetic of the restaurant, which I quite enjoyed.
- The presentation and flavor profiles of the langoustine/gooseberry dish and lobster/custard dish were too similar.

I'm not a food critic, but I often visit 1-2 Michelin star restaurants (and less frequently 3*** ones).
I do consider myself knowledgeable about wines, at least European ones (especially from Spain, France, and Italy).
As a food enthusiast, I keep a good record of my personal ranking of restaurants in the countries I live in or visit.

My opinion:
The location isn't anything exceptional; it's a nicely decorated restaurant with an interior patio. But I'm not really a fan of hotel restaurants where the investment in decor outweighs the food, and in this case, it's totally the opposite. The team at Aska can make a snack in a NYC patio one of the best parts of a menu. The minimalist Nordic-style dining room helps diners focus on what's important – enjoying the food. The service is outstanding, on par with the food, or even better. The coordination is extraordinary, and dining becomes an experience simply due to the dedication of the staff. They offer two wine pairings, and the more affordable one, which I tried, is totally worth it. Missy, the sommelier, will do everything possible to enhance your dining experience at this restaurant. My wife chose the non-alcoholic option, and I can say she was also surprised at how much you can enjoy a wine pairing without consuming alcohol.

As for the food, I understand there are criticisms about the portion sizes, but it's all about enjoying every bite from start to finish, and the balance is just right. The dishes and portions seemed perfect to me to savor each bite, including the desserts. Regarding just the food, and on an international level in my 2-star Michelin ranking, it's only surpassed by Jungsik. In terms of service, it far surpasses Jungsik and sits at my top spot, followed by Daniel.

Efter att ha ätit i många legendariska stjärnmärkta restauranger kan jag med säkerhet säga att ASKA är en av de bästa i världen. Denna New York Noma drivs av ett dynamiskt ungt team som leds av en kock som är lika närvarande i matsalen (konstgjordt utformad för att lyfta fram maten och tillåter gott om privatliv) när han är i det öppna köket.

Den lilla, men originella vinlistan från Tyskland och Loire-dalen leds av charmiga och kunniga Rachael.

Maten är ett kreativt äktenskap med falserade örter, ätliga blommor och skaldjur (även kött) med periodiska inslag av lyx som en tryffel och en kaviarrätt. Höjdpunkten var en langoustine maträtt som började med hjärnan och fortsatte med den grillade kroppen. Smaksatta minskningar spelar en stor roll. Presentationerna är verkliga konstverk som involverar både maten själv och miniatyrsteg konstruerade med småsten, bark, nötter och skal.

Tredje gången på denna två - Michelin-stjärnig restaurang. Men den här gången, istället för att deras underbart hembakade bröd är gratis, är det faktiskt en av kurserna i menyn med flera kursprovningar. Och det på en ökning av priset också. Så även om varje maträtt är utsatt för denna härliga värld, lämnade jag och min fru hungriga.

Aska, som drivs av kocken Fredrik Berselius, erbjuder nordiska rätter av hög kvalitet och färska ingredienser. Presentationen är fantastisk; kreativ och konstgjord. Men det är inte en av platserna där form tar över ämnet. Varje maträtt laddades med intensiv smak som tillfredsställer själar och ögon. Inredningen är enkel men ändå elegant och vacker som du kan förvänta dig i en skandinavisk atmosfär. Tjänsten var kompetent, charmig och uppmärksam.

Jag tog min syster för provsmakning menyn och vinparing för att fira hennes födelsedag och upplevelsen var definitivt speciellt tillfälle {även några tillfällen} värdiga.

Vinparing har varit pricier än andra anläggningar jag har besökt men jag tyckte det var perfekt för de många kurser som slog bordet för att förbättra så många speciella ingredienser och tekniker. Jag skulle upprepa det om och om igen. Varje maträtt var noggrant curated och tillverkade. Det var speciellt anmärkningsvärt hur många anställda arbetade inom ett tätt kök för att presentera varje sammansatt maträtt som urverk. Menyn är mycket fisk fokuserad ännu resto hanterade expertis min systers skaldjur allergi, vilket var så uppskattat.

Hade middag för några veckor sedan på Aska och det var bra. Vi brukar älska brödstjänsten mest och det var en av de bästa som vi någonsin har haft. Dryckerna var fenomenala också. Tjänsten var också bra. Vi älskade att prata med alla kockar som de tog ut vår mat.

Blandningen av matlagningshantverk, pläteringskonst och otrolig gästfrihet har aldrig blivit perfekt, varje anställd (och med 19 kurser och kockar som levererar disken du möter de flesta) har så otroligt omsorg och är fullt investerade i se till att du har en fantastisk tid. Mat - Wise det var inte en låg punkt till hela måltiden, vin matcher var utmärkt och den vänliga, varma och professionella personalen får dig att känna dig som den enda tabellen i restaurangen. Medan mycket är gjord i artiklar som jag har läst om Askas användning av fodertypsartade ingredienser, överskuggade de aldrig eller obalanserade skålen, de var en integrerad del men behandlades så perfekt att det aldrig kände sig tvungen eller konstruerad.
