Had some great dishes, but didn't earn the 5th star for me. Go for the seafood. Those are the best dishes. The lamb was very average and the kebonah looks better than it was. Service was great. Also, save room for the chocolate cake dessert. Simple but phenomenal.

I was very excited to visit Theodora after multiple attempts at getting a reservation. However, I was very disappointed at the service provided during my dining experience. Our server kept pushing me and my friend to order 5-6 dishes from the beginning, when we wanted to order more as we ate. Their natural wine menu is extensive, but our server did not know much about the wines even though it said on the menu to ask for recommendations. We ordered a bottle of wine and wanted to enjoy our food and drinks while eating, but that was impossible because we kept being asked to order more food. After finishing our meal, the waiter came by with the dessert menu and we told her we did not want any dessert. She gave no response, just looked at us and took the menu away. While I was waiting for my friend to use the bathroom, another waiter came by and asked us to leave again making me feel very uncomfortable. The food was good, but the service made me never want to visit again. I will not be coming back because of the very unpleasant experience that night.

Finally checked out Theodora. I would definitely say it’s overhyped. The staff and atmosphere was phenomenal but the food was just okay. Definitely try the sourdough with ricotta, but everything else we tried didn’t shout amazing to me. I will say that all the dishes were stunning though.

The wood fired oven makes a huge difference and it is delicious! The sourdough was great, as well as the melon tartare and the red snapper ceviche. All the food portions were very very small, too small. They are made for sharing but everyone can only get one bite and no more -  more like a taste than a sharing plate. Their whole red snapper looked very large and that was the only thing that was truly sharing for a group of 4 or more. Service and vibes were great. Clean bathrooms and convenient location by the subway. Their cocktails were surprisingly delicious! I would come back for small bites and cocktails.

One of the best meals I’ve had in NYC, the flavors they extract from the wood fired cooking are intense and beautifully balanced. Can’t miss the whipped ricotta bread, the pull apart bread, and the octopus. The Caprese style cocktail and chocolate cake were both unique and special.

Jag har sett flera källor kalla Theodora den bästa nya restaurangen i NYC, och efter att ha besökt förstår jag all hype den har fått. Atmosfären inuti är vacker, även om sittplatserna är ganska trångt. Varje rätt var en enastående, så unik och smakrik. Vi fick den här hummusen som också hade fisk inbakad i sig – så utöver det goda! Också ett stort fan av rostade grönsaker och lammtunnbröd. Vi har också svärdfiskspett. De var mycket bra men inte säker på om jag skulle få det igen. Även om vi var mätta fick vi munkarna till efterrätt. Superlätt och luftigt och läckert!

Totalt sett maten var utmärkt. Rödbetor, branzino och lamm var exceptionella . Servicen var bra men allt kändes väldigt bråttom och borde proaktivt ha erbjudit tallriksbyten, hjälp med branzino, etc. massor av personal men kändes bråttom och transaktionsmässig. 
Synd eftersom atmosfären och prislappen förtjänade en bättre kundupplevelse.

Maten var mycket bra inklusive randig bas cevice, seeded laffa, Napa kål, lamm och sordfish mage spett. Restaurangen var mycket bullriga till den grad att vara obekväm. Det var så högt att när servrarna förklarade maten försökte de inte ens skrika över bullret. Med så många olika ingredienser hade det varit trevligt att veta vad vi åt.
