Oh la la. @catbirdnyc is a stunning jewellery store that stocks unique and beautiful pieces that suit people of all ages.
I was looking for a particular item advertised on a tourist platform. Alas, it was dated and they no longer stocked those personalised necklaces.
However, the delightful Bella assisted me in my options and was most helpful.
The store is somewhat of an eclectic collection of not just jewellery but also decor. Shout out to the designer of the store. Stunning!
I left without a pith see but have sent pics to my daughters for their choices.

I first found out about this place on social media, mostly about their permanent bracelets that they do, where they go in and zap the metal together on your wrist after you choose your jewelry bracelet band and with an option of some charms as well. This is such a cute little experience to do if you want a little nyc souvenir that will last you a long while! The workers were also so friendly and went in full depth how it will work and the pricing and everything! I really hope my bracelet will stay on long, the lady told me that they usually stay on for about a few years and it really matters on your activities and it may get stuck on something and break. I will come back here and let you know how long it lasted when it breaks.

Buyer beware — be sure of what you’re purchasing (quality, price, size) before you jump in. Their return/exchange policy is really strange and I was told different information by different people, overall making the experience very complicated.

I ordered two Diamond Barnes (14K white gold) rings online, each for around $400 (which in itself is already pretty overpriced for that type of gold and tiny diamond), and needed to exchange one for a different size. First, I sent in a customer service request (takes about 2-3 days for them to even respond) requesting an exchange for the same product, but a different size. Simple enough request for a company right?

I was then told that they don’t do exchanges, and to put in a return request for store credit to repurchase the item. Fine, it’s a bit complicated, but I was willing to do it. After putting in the return request, you have to wait for catbird to approve it. Who’s ever heard of this kind of convoluted return process? If a customer wants to return the product, they should be able to. After another day or so, they approved the request.

This is all fine timeline wise, but they require you to make the return within 10 days of receiving your product (shipped or in store) and it was cutting it close now.

I decided to make the return in store since that would save me $5 on shipping, and in store they told me a totally different story. They explained I COULD exchange the item so we went through with that process, but that also took them 2-3 tries to get the order into their system as an exchange.

The in store interaction was fine and straightforward, but they also questioned why I was told I couldn’t get an exchange. Overall super  confusing process and it really seemed like Catbird is here to keep your money by any means possible, even if that makes the customer experience poorer. Would NEVER buy anything here again nor would I recommend this place to anyone. The staff are mostly nice and helpful, but the quality of the product is really lacking and you can tell they try to skimp on the material by making thinner bands, chains, etc. You can get much better quality pieces elsewhere (like Chinatown)

I'm a big fan of Catbird's products and the in-store experience at this location has always been stellar! Very nice workers and a large selection of jewelry in a range of budgets. Getting bracelets zapped is so fun, and I also love looking at all the jewelry in the cases. I have purchased several items here and plan to continue shopping at this location in the future.
