Cute place with a bustling atmosphere. We were seated outside quickly, and the staff was very friendly. We hadn't noticed it was cash only, but they kindly directed us to an ATM across the street at Wells Fargo. Our food arrived quickly.

If you're craving a classic bar burger, this is the spot! My partner and I both had the Bacon Cheeseburger. While it didn’t blow our socks off as some locals claimed, it’s definitely solid bar food if that’s your thing.

This is a very cool, authentic and classic place to eat.

Inside is decorated in a classic manner which makes you feel like you are in 80s or 70s.

The consierge makes sure you are well treated.

Classic burger is fine, chips are fine. But you have to try the apple sour cream wallnut pie!!!

5/5 place to go for a date, or to take your family out on a dinner.

Been trying to get in here for about a year now (it's ALWAYS packed) and this place did not disappoint. Had a cup of chili with cheese to start (needed to be much hotter, but...) and it was really good. Followed it with a cheeseburger and cottage fries. I honestly didn't think the burger was going to be THAT good. Impressive. The bartenders had incredible personalities.  10/10 all around

I won’t beat around the bush - it’s a bit expensive, the cash-only bit is an inconvenience, the waits are long, and the food really didn’t blow me away. So why 5 stars? Because I don’t care. This place has an energy and a stuck-in-time vibe that draws you in. In a city filled with avant-garde smashburgers with kimchi, it’s places like this we rely on to keep us grounded. It’s honest, it isn’t pretending to be innovative or new. It’s getting hard to find places left in Manhattan that feel like real, old New York. Places like Minetta Tavern or Caffe Reggio, and of course, JG Melon. Some complained about rude service, and okay, the older male host can be very short and come across as rude to someone not from the city, but he isn’t. He’s just an authentic New Yorker.

Been coming here since the 90’s and most of it hasn’t changed. The burger temperature is the only thing I’d keep a close eye on because they make sooo many. But they’re quick to fix it. The fries also come out more crispy than fluffy. The chili is still the best in the city and the burgers are perfect for your late night fix. Only annoying thing is that they’re still cash only which is more annoying now than 30 years ago.

Vecka, plats är välkänd för hamburguéer, så vi gick för dem. 
Köttet på burgaren var bra. Du kände verkligen att det var gott kött. Brödet var gott, men osten var bara den billiga sorten. Långa väntetider, litet utrymme, men värt att gå en gång.

Allt som allt var IT en rolig utekväll med härliga vibbar och en fantastisk hamburgare. Vi lämnade med noll klagomål och en glad mage!

Var tvungen att stanna och köpa en hamburgare! Jag gillar bra hamburgare och det här var jättegott inte torkat och överkokt bara ingen rosa! Burgaren var utsökt. Pommes frites också. Platsen var liten - trångt - endast kontanter och vi visste inte i förväg - servicen var bra ... .. skulle gå tillbaka. Lite dyrt - hade ett vin för $ 15 /glas eller något liknande men vi njöt av måltiden.

Servicen är fruktansvärd. Hamburgare och pommes frites är mycket under genomsnittet i staden. Mycket dyrt. Jag ville prata med tjänstemannen, de tillät mig inte.

Min man och jag stannade in efter en lång promenad i Central Park. Platsen är pittoreska. Enbart kontanter. Vi satt i baren och beställde vad bar-anbuden berättade för oss. Bacon, ostburgare, medium sällsynta och dela en sida av stekt frites. Vi hade många OK måltider i NYC men det här var en trevlig överraskning. Servrarna bakom baren var vänliga, roliga och gjorde vår måltid till en upplevelse. Det kändes som en gammal skola NY matupplevelse. Inga krusiduller, inget "instagram värt" - - bara en bra hamburgare och vänlig service. Skulle definitivt återvända till O. G. J. G. Melon nästa gång jag är i New York.

Mycket liten för en NY-restaurang men hört talas om att det är bra hamburgare så jag tänkte att jag skulle prova det. Beställde en bacon cheeseburger och en sidoplatta med frites. Rimlig prissättning men allt är à la carte. Pommes frites är så och formade som pickle medaljonger och hamburgaren serveras på en tallrik i samma storlek som hamburgaren som är frustrerande. Burger är bra men inte fantastiskt. Tabellerna sitter fast intill varandra och det gör att det är lite svårt att komma upp och ut. Om du vill ha en hamburgare som är prisvärd, gå alltså. Vidareföra ostkakan eftersom den är ganska smaklös.

Enbart kontanter. Liten plats, lite trångt, med en bar framtill. Hade cheeseburger som var utmärkt med stor smak men för priset för liten. Pommes frites är medaljongformade men fortfarande krispiga. Totalt sett mycket bra men dyr.

Vi var fyra av oss och platsen var fullsatt. Du kan inte boka och du måste betala kontant. Vi hade tur att få en pall i baren för att ha drinkar medan vi väntade på ett bord. Barmannen Micheal var en gentleman, en stor professionell, väldigt cool och kontrollerad, aldrig krångel trots att de var så upptagna. Min syster bad om en cocktail som han inte kände till och han förvånade oss sedan genom att skapa en till henne och det var riktigt bra. Han behövde inte alltför, han var så upptagen, men det var fantastiskt. Vi gick sedan ut på bordet och vår servitris (ledsen att jag inte kommer ihåg ditt namn) var härlig. Mat bra, förnuftig hamburgare som du kan äta i ena handen och inte behöver en kniv och gaffel, det är inte en hamburgare! ! ! ! ,! ! Chilikopp, bästa någonsin. Inget utrymme för puds! Med tanke på de fantastiska recensionerna och feedbacken och som är villiga att smaka på en oförglömlig hamburgare, bestämde vi oss för att prova JCMelon i UES.
Efter 20 minuter i väntan på att njuta av den vänliga atmosfären fick vi vårt trevliga bord och beställde 2 hamburgare w / fries.
Jag älskade pommes frites (måste beställas som en sida) och jag gillade också hamburgaren:
Inte oförglömlig som jag förväntade mig men ändå väldigt välsmakande. Totalt ~ 60 $ (moms + gratifikation ingår)
Sammanfattningen: trevlig upplevelse på grund av miljö och atmosfär (inte turistiskt alls!) Och god mat.
Jag skulle ge det ett skott.

Fortfarande de bästa hamburgarna i NY. Men genom åren har dess popularitet ökat, och listor visas i guideböcker, och det som brukade vara en mysig stadsbana har blivit en fullsatt mob scen med turister och skrikande barn. Och som en följd har tjänsten blivit likgiltig och bristfällig. I eftermiddag beställde jag en kopp chili och en hamburgare, och som svar på en fråga betonade jag att chili skulle komma först som aptitretare och att jag inte ville ha hamburgaren förrän senare. Men självklart "de råkade bara komma ut på samma gång." När jag protesterade föreslog den olyckliga servitören att hamburgaren kunde tas bort och "värmas upp senare".

Det är rätt, "uppvärmt senare."

Och medan jag ville ha en martini med Lillet Blanc hade varken servitören eller bartendern någonsin hört talas om den senare.

Så mycket för JG Melon.

Jag gick inte till den ursprungliga platsen, och jag har aldrig varit så min recension kanske inte är trovärdig eftersom jag vet att folk svär på östra sidan, men jag blev positivt överraskad av den västra byn.

Burger var läckra och så var pommes frites. Jag skulle definitivt komma tillbaka hit och nu vet jag varför det har rykte som den bästa burger i NYC!

En vän rekommenderade denna plats. En bra rekommendation.
