This is probably the most hyped bagel spot in New York, and the long line proves it. Expect to wait about 20-40 minutes just to get to the register, followed by another 5-15 minutes to receive your order. The selection is huge, and for the sheer number of people they serve, the service is impressively quick. There are some seating options, but definitely not enough to accommodate the crowd.

As for the bagels themselves? They’re fine—nothing particularly special, either good or bad. I’d call them pretty standard. The cheese is melted nicely from the freshly baked bagel, the ingredients are fresh, but the taste doesn’t stand out in any remarkable way. If you’re after a truly exceptional bagel, I’d recommend heading to Leon Bagel instead. It’s less crowded, more affordable, and the crispy outer layer gives their bagels a unique edge.

One standout feature here is the vibrant, bold colors of the bagels—they’re visually stunning. Overall, it’s definitely a bagel shop worth trying at least once, but I wouldn’t wait in line again.

I had the Holiday Bagel with Oreo cream cheese, and it was absolutely incredible! The cream cheese was rich and decadent, perfectly complementing the slightly sweet and soft bagel. It was a delightful combination that I’ll definitely come back for.

On top of that, the service was outstanding. Luis and Chris were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. They truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great bagels and excellent customer service!

Theoretically, this is one of the best bagel spots in NYC. A lot of people seem to agree with this claim, as the line to order was over 40 minutes long. That being said, the order came out fairly quickly (even though I had four bagels in mine). You line up, order and pay first, then wait on the side for your name to be called. The cash prices are a little cheaper than if you pay by card, but credit cards are accepted. I had the Nova classic on an everything bagel. It came with globs of cream cheese and a hefty amount of lox. My boyfriend loved the steakwich on an everything bagel as well; he devoured it in less than 20 seconds. He was less effusive about his plain bagel with jelly but it was still a solid option. There’s no seating but if you go towards the Apple Store, there is outdoor seating with tables there. I’d recommend being prepared with your order as to keep the line moving quickly, although they do allow you to try samples of the cream cheese.

I’ve been to this location multiple times, and while it does get very packed and you can except a line, the service is always very streamlined. If lines aren’t for you, you can order online and pickup. They’re super efficient and the bagels are always amazing! Today I had the rainbow bagel with birthday cake cream cheese. DIVINE! Definitely the best bagels in NYC!

Prefacing by saying I'm not from NYC, though I visit the city regularly looking for new restaurants to try and foods to explore.

And I do love a good bagel sandwich. Can't argue with these bagels. There was a long line extending outside on a Sunday morning, and it was a little brisk outside, but I was hungry, curious, and ready for breakfast.

Liberty Bagels was between where I was and my destination, with great reviews here on Google, so I waited in line.

It was very crowded inside so I didn't stick around, although my sausage, egg, and cheese on their warm "liberty" bagel was really, really good and worth the wait 🤤 Some natives in the city will definitely argue for other bagel spots, but this was fantastic, as well.

I walked up Upper East Side casually munching on this sandwich and feeling like there was nothing in this world going wrong.

Tender, twisty, & hand-rolled dough, juicy meat, gooey cheese, not too much salt and not too little. When that happens, I do not argue! In my opinion, it was very delicious!

There is a large selection of items, including meats, deli sandwiches, etc. in addition to bagels and bagel sandwiches. They do take credit cards and tap-to-pay (I've stopped by some bagel places that only take cash).

In sum, yes, I'd recommend to try this spot out at least once if you haven't, even though you might wait a bit. Though crowded, they are efficient with the orders. Also, of the bagel spots in the surrounding area (~east 50s), Liberty Bagels 5th Ave got the highest rating on Google.
