Very interesting place. I was skeptical when i first heard about this Indian deli and turned out to be a very nice culinary experience. I didn’t know what to order, i just picked the large bowl of rice and two vegetables. I literally point what i wanted it. It was all delicious. I fully recommend the spinach dish, not very good looking but super tasty. Also the prices are  great. And if you are worried about getting sick, don’t be.

Very tasty Indian takeout, everything is pretty good, although I don't recommend the rice pudding; too watery.  Service is not the worst but not the best either.  You pick the dishes via numbers  and the prices are listed on the menu.  The dish then gets reheated in a microwave and you pay at the cash register.   Seating is nonexistent and there are a small standing area for eating in.  Price is decent and the food is ready fast.

Diminutive space with down-at-heel appearance —but the urban decay is part of the charm. The samosa and aloo tikki were good. Both are potato heavy but herb seasoning is present and noted and flavorful. They’re large, hot and filling. Great option for cheap filling hot snack if you have cash. $3/ each. Cash only. The English spoken here is barebones strictly transactional English.

This is what New York used to be: absolutely delicious, authentic food from a little hole in the wall spot on Houston and first. Regularly ate here after gigs at Arlene‘s grocery, Mercury Lounge, & CBGB is back in the day. I haven’t played Mercury Lounge in years but took advantage of being nearby and dropped in. To my delight the food was still absolutely delicious and cheap! They had seven hot dishes to choose from, five of which were vegan. They had samosas, pakoras, and other Indian/Pakistani goodies. I definitely recommend this for a quick bite when you’re in the area. There’s no seating but there is a standing counter inside at which you can eat if you want to “eat in.”

Definitely a New York institution among the South Asian population. Ordered the chai (tea). It was sweet yet you can taste the complexity of the flavours. Will try again for the food next time!
