This is definitely one of the better omakases at this price-point. Unlike almost all others at this price, this restaurant is shockingly roomy, and when we were there, there were 4 customers to a chef. The quality of the fish is great at this price, and the service from the chef was courteous; however, the interactions with the waitstaff were minimal, which we didn't really mind. The 11-course lunch meal takes roughly 45 minutes, and we did appreciate seeing what we were actually getting from the get-go.
Unfortunately, like many others at this price, you don't really walk out feeling very full, and we found ourselves going out for burgers afterwards.
This is a great place for someone who's just trying out omakases or looking for an affordable option; but not a meal that will fill you up, or stacks up against a restaurant where the chef has had years and years of training.

I had an amazing omakase dining experience that truly impressed me. The warm ambiance set the stage for a culinary journey.
The meal featured fresh, flavorful sashimi and standout dishes.
Overall, it was a remarkable celebration of Japanese cuisine that I highly recommend. The only thing I didn’t like was when they tried to rush us out while we were still enjoying our drinks.

It was amazing experience! The sushi were delicious! We went step by step, trying one and another, though we were very hungry, after 6, you are almost full. We also tried beer and sake. 58$ per dinner is excellent price for such experience!

For the price, I wasn’t expecting top-tier quality, but there were some minor issues. The otoro, while tasty, wasn’t properly prepared—the tendon wasn’t removed, making it overly chewy and hard to eat. If they improved the fish preparation, it would elevate the experience significantly.

That said, we enjoyed the meal, and it’s definitely a good value for omakase in the city.

Tsumo is the BEST omakase in NYC for the price. Unbelievable quality of the fish and shari (rice) for just under $60 per person. We’ve been to Tsumo 3 times, loved it every time and all of our friends do as well.
How’s the price / quality possible? Tsumo has a unique model. Unlike your typical omakase, Tsumo doesn’t serve you anything other than the sushi - no appetizer, no miso soup, no udon or denpura, etc. Also, it serves 30+ ppl in one big room like a factory with 3 different dinner times a day. The high turnover and pure focus on the sushi probably makes the economics make sense.
If you’re looking for 4.4/5.0 quality sushi for just under $60 resembling an omakase experience, Tsumo’s the place. If you’re looking for the 2-hr long omakase “experience” including the atmosphere, then look for some place else and pay $200 per person.
