I came to Charlotte for less than 24 hours for a concert at the Spectrum Center, so I didn't spend a lot of time in the room. I really don't have any negatives to say about my experience, so here are the highlights of the positives: The warm cookies!!! If you stay at a DoubleTree, cookies are included. Make sure you get them at the front desk upon check-in. We had to wait because they weren't ready when we got there, but it was worth the wait. Bed was comfy! Shower had great water pressure. Great location if you are here for a concert or something else downtown and want to take public transportation. This hotel was about a mile from a Blue Line train stop. We drove our car to the stop (the parking lot was free). From there, it took about 20ish minutes with the stops and the Spectrum Center stop was literally steps away from venue. I'd stay here again!

I recently spent a night at DoubleTree by Hilton South Charlotte Tyvola... and it almost didn't happen. That's right, I arrived with a reservation and was turned away, told that the woman in front of me had just taken the last room despite the fact that I had a reservation and she didn't. Yep, they had overbooked, and I was left without a room. About five or six others were turned away after me, all stranded with nowhere to go at about 1 am. Not ideal, obviously. Thankfully, while I sat in the lobby crying and attempting to find another hotel, one of the staff members, Nicole, informed me a room had opened up. Even before this, though, Nicole had been very kind and empathetic, which I appreciated very much, especially after a horrid night of interrupted air travel. I want to point out that I heard the employees talking amongst themselves about the fact that reservations continued pouring in even though they were at capacity. This lack of communication and coordination is unacceptable and needs to be addressed by the management to prevent future incidents. I don't fault the hotel staff, as it's obvious it was out of their hands, but whatever booking system/software Hilton is using is failing big time. Despite the initial frustration and distress, Nicole's exceptional customer service and understanding turned the situation around for me. She deserves recognition for her efforts. I hope the management takes steps to improve their booking system and ensure that guests with reservations are not left in such a predicament again.

DoubleTree by Hilton South Charlotte Tyvola 5624 Westpark Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina, 28217 704-527-8000 I made my reservation for October 18, 2024, in June 2024. When I checked in, the counter person did not acknowledge that I was a Hilton Honors customer. Furthermore, the counter person indicated he was out of the room type I requested, so he upgraded me to the next level. I ASKED IF THERE WOULD BE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE SINCE I DID NOT REQUEST AN UPGRADE. He indicated that there would not be a charge. I was charged an upgrade fee for my two nights there. At check out, the counter person was insulting and stated that there was nothing that she would do about the situation and that I should call the manager on Monday! Despite paying extra for a room with a Panoramic view, I was disappointed to find that the view was of HVAC units, a pool, and trees. This was not the view I had expected or should have paid more for. The room quality did not meet my expectations, and I believe there is room for improvement. The heating unit inside the room was so loud that one had to decide if he wanted sleep or heat; Both were impossible. One has to pay extra for parking at this hotel. There is no covered parking lot or valet parking service; it is an open lot with signs everywhere stating, "WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THEFT OR DAMAGE TO YOUR CAR!!" There was broken car glass everywhere, and it was difficult to find a place to park. The breakfast was $20.00 per person, and many guests, ourselves included, did not know that there was a charge until the rude person chased them down and demanded money! THEY SHOULD PUT UP A SIGN THAT SAYS, "BREAKFAST IS $20.00 PER PERSON," AND WATCH FOLKS GO ELSEWHERE FOR BREAKFAST!!" This was not a good stay, and I do not recommend the hotel to anyone. It is far below the DoubleTree standard. Book elsewhere!

Do not stay here! Over priced and they charge for everything! You want WIFI that cost money. You have to pay to park here and no continental breakfast. Ice machine is broken and the rooms don't have a microwave in them. Pool is under construction didn't know that we I booked the hotel less than a month before our trip. Room wasn't clean, gross stains on the floor and behind the tv there was garbage and a thick layer of dust and the water is the shower only gets lukewarm.

Attended an evening conference here which included dinner, drinks, and dessert. I was pleasantly surprised by the hotels offerings. The potato and pasta salads were delicious and definitely need not be overlooked. The main course of fried chicken and/or pulled pork, albeit very casual food in nature, was very good. The fried chicken was very tender on the inside. It was very easy to eat with a fork and knife. The staff were very attentive and went around to each table to clear plates. Parking was easy. I would definitely recommend this hotel for bigger events.

we have had to call 5 times for them to issue a refund that they promised us a month ago and we still don't have it. the management is irresponsible and I believe they don't care about giving us our refund because they don't want us as customers and we won't be again trusttt me

Close to downtown Charlotte, behind Southpark mall. This aesthetics of this hotel give off rich vibes, tons of wood paneling in lobby, the breakfast is $17.50 per person. The rooms are 2 sides one w kitchenette, desk, table, & other side w double queen beds, bthrm, tvs on both sides. The carpet is plush throughout textured under your feet and springy. There are two 5 drawer dressers in each room side. Now the negatives, this Inncom thermostat doesn't work. It was 42 Fahrenheit our first night and the heat would never turn on. I cranked it up to 85 to try and move it but only goes to 70. We had maintenance man come in twice & they must not know how to work it either. The both said it would start to heat up in 30 mins and it just continues blowing cold air. We just turned it off at night to avoid cold air blowing. Another thing these nice looking sink & showers don't drain very well. When u run sink w drain open longer than 30 seconds the water will pool up, same goes for shower drain. The last negative I have is we were on 2nd floor and can hear ppl walking on floor above. Unless they are stomp walking or weigh 500lbs might want to investigate the infrastructure. If you can overlook these issues we've had you may enjoy stay more.

AVOID THIS HOTEL! It took us 3 different rooms to finally settle in a place that was somewhat clean. The first room had no AC and a disgusting melted toilet seat. When we were moved to the second room, we found a condom wrapper, dirty socks, pizza toppings and crumbs on the floor and a broken mini fridge. Our 3rd and final room was by no means well cleaned but was sleep-able, as it was so late and we just needed a bed by this point. Through all of our issues and trouble with our rooms, we were given no compensation and the supervisor was extremely apathetic. It was issue after issue. The entire hotel is dirty, rundown and out dated. Unfortunately I will never return to a double tree hotel again as this location has ruined the reputation for any further stays. I HIGHLY recommend taking your money elsewhere where when looking for a place to stay in Charlotte!!!

Pictures of the pool that clearly isn't the glittering picture you see on the sight. Uncared for and covered in algae. Probably won't be back as the lack of attention is obvious. Staff is nice / that's it

This hotel isn't a bad stay. It's a hit or miss. I've stayed here twice. The first time, I booked online and got to the hotel by midnight and the front desk receptionist told me it was oversold however she did find my reservation and put me on the bottom floor in a ADA room which I didn't mind. But the only negative side to it was that if there are guests talking out loud in the bar area, their voices echoed through the hallways and I can hear everything they're saying. So basically the guests who were chilling, drinking, talking super loud kept me up until 3:30am. There was no telephone in my room for me to call front desk but thankfully I had randomly found ear plugs in my bag! Elevators are slow. I would suggest staying on floor 3 so you can get to your floor faster by the slow elevator or if you don't mind waiting for the elevator and value quiet then book on the highest floor possible so you don't get disturbance on your sleep. The second time I stayed here, I got put up on the 3rd floor, my room did not close all the way due to the door being kind of wonky. So I didn't need to use my key card to get in to my room to enter which was concerning at first but I always make sure to completely shut the door when I leave so I know I don't have random people coming in to my room when I'm gone. Breakfast was great. Server was very nice and personable. He said it's been very slow after the pandemic because companies do not use their hotel anymore due to everybody staying home doing work on computers now. He's also worried about job retention due to low levels of customers. Breakfast buffet starts at 6:30-10:00am, they serve buffet style which consists of made to order omelets, cereal, milk, variety of fruits, yogurts, bread, bagels, fresh made muffins, sausage Pattie's, oatmeal, bacons, scrambled egg with cheese on top, potato's, and sugared powder waffles with syrup on the side. Price point $20.00 per person. Airport shuttle is inconsistent. You have to call them to pick you up (it might take them 30 minutes to 45 minutes depending on traffic, how many people they're waiting on at the hotel that needs transport to airport, or maybe you just missed them after they came around the airport the first time, etc) even though they're close by, they only have one driver and it always depends on the traffic. and then make a reservation to get dropped back off at the airport when you check in at the hotel and they write down what time you want the shuttle on a binder. They can also take guests to Walmart close by if it's slow. Drivers are nice so don't forget to tip them at least $1 to show appreciation. Front desk staff are very kind and personable as well. They're better than the yorkmont doubletree in my opinion. If you treat front desk staff with respect, you will get the same respect back. Last but not least, clean beds are kind of questionable. The bathrooms are cute because the person who cleans the room, folds the towels to make them look nice. However once you go on the bed, can't tell if the sheets have been cleaned or not. Found a piece of hair on my Pillow which made me question everything. Buuuuut again, a piece of hair won't kill me. I just threw the pillow to the side and called it a night.
