Stayed at this hotel with my husband for the Thanksgiving holidays, November 27th-December 1st. Our stay was less than desirable. The pictures and information on the website was very deceptive; because when we arrived and were assigned a room, the quality of the room was not what we saw in the pictures. The hotel was dusty (see picture attached). And it just seemed like the pictures online were highly edited and filtered, compared to the raw, low quality reality in person. On the third morning, following Thanksgiving, the hot water went out and the drain was clogged. While the front desk staff was nice enough to give us another room, the same issue occurred in the "new room"; and they did not have maintenance staff available, even though the holiday was over. On our final morning, we asked if they would hold onto our bags for the day while we go get food and run errands. Most hotels provide this service. Hawthorn suites would not. This was a very disappointing experience.

Not a good place to stay. Feels unsafe rooms are dirty. Toilet unclean had some dry urine. Some staff members are unfriendly. I recommend if you dont have to stay there don't. This place has alot of potential to be a nice place to stay but seems no cares.

First of all, their computer system is down when we try to check in. No problem, things happen. We understood and we had paid in advance via Expedia so were thinking, "No biggie, we got this." But they needed a credit card so we gave them one. And then we gave them another one! They had to call it in and it was the third credit card and 5th call before they got the $25 for "incidentals" approved. Which is great because they wouldn't have let us get our room, even though it was paid for, "Yeah, makes sense! Pay for a room 15 minutes from the Charlotte airport but that $25 for "incidentals" is CRITICAL. Maybe they didn't know when their computer system would come back online, like because shanty towns in the armpit of Rio de Janeiro are higher class than this place. But, we're optimists!!!! And since the woman operating the incredibly intricate telephone system where she had to manually call (Oh, THE HORROR!) couldn't seem to get the apparently equally challenged credit card rep to approve the card, we ended up giving THREE credit cards! Go team!! Fist bump, Aliens-style - Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee - The! 4,999th try is a charm!!! I felt like a had 5 rabbit's feet in my pocket! We were getting the room!!!! Then we get a room that smells like stale cigar smoke and ass. Not like, "oh, this room has an odor to it," but more like, "King Kong smoked a Swisher Sweet the size of a Magnolia tree while pissing and crapping in the room," after feasting on the dung of Mothra. Putrid ass. We asked for some air freshener or another room. Well, we didn't get the air freshener so I farted hoping the smell would be better. My wife wasn't as amused as I was, "Now this room smells like someone smoked a stale cigar and put it out in the crack of your ass. Thanks hubby." But, we had the key to another room to check it out! Turns out the other room that they gave us a key to is the room Mothra crapped in! Yea, Mothra! Fist bump, Godzilla-spewing-fire-style, Aiiiieeeeeee Aieeeeeee... The room smelled worse than the first one so we didn't change rooms. Then then the "complimentary" dinner that was supposed to last until 6:30 p.m.... didn't... It was over very early. The lady told us, "Sorry, we ran out early." So apparently they maybe cooked enough to feed 3 or 4 people. That's the best complimentary non-dinner and non-beer, ever!! "Complimentary dinner without the compliments and without the dinner!" Fist bump, Fresh Prince style!! Waaaaahhhhaaaaaahhhh, kick it, Jazzy Jeff!! But it gets better. What happens at 7 p.m., when you have the windows open to air out the stinking room? The leaf-blower guy goes by! Yea!!! "Listen to the song of my people!" Wraaaoooonn! Nice of you to drown out the television reception that we didn't have because of the reception that we didn't have. I would have climbed to the top floor and jumped but it wasn't high enough to end my life and probably would have only injured me... and then the leaf blower guy would have blown leaves and dirt all over my broken body.... Read my lips; this is "Wrong Turn" territory. Never, ever stay here! EVER!!!! You'll probably end up in a King Kong-Mothera-Godzilla-Swisher-Sweet-Cigar-Ass-Crap-Piss room and the all time fave, complimentary non-meal and beer complimentary beer! Go find a shanty in Mubai, India with an outdoor toilet and enough carbon dioxide to make your lungs go supernova because you'll be better off! Go team!!! Woot-woot! I feel like I'm living an Eminem rap!!!! Motherffuuuuuuuuuu..... Stay away. Don't waste your money or your time.... But if you like Grunge music or violent rap, this is the place to come for inspiration. Oh, before I forget... "Showtime" on the television..... ain't... The satellite is as challenge as the employees and building itself.

So star rating is really subjective based on the room rate. I can't really compare this hotel with the same star rating as the Ritz Carlton. With that, my wife and I had to come to Charlotte as we had a loved one in the hospital for two weeks. So we had to go with a lower $ rate hotel. I tried 2 other ones that were pretty bad. I ended up with this Hawthorn Suites as try number 3, and made it an 8 days stay. First, if you are expecting a higher end hotel this isn't it. What it is a nice clean place that you can rest your head. The room looked old but it was clean. Bathroom and towels were clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful, not a crabby one in the bunch. We used the laundromat several times and the washer price was reasonable. The free breakfast isn't an elaborate spread but certainly enough options to make it nice a nice meal (eggs, waffles, oatmeal, etc). They have an evening spread but we always got in to late. The clientele were just regular folks. Didn't see any signs of bugs or anything. And the location is in the midst of other hotels and restaurants. So good stay for a good rate

OMG! This place is the worse. Here are the reasons why: 1) Most of the staff we encountered were unprofessional and rude. 2) Much of the place needed a good cleaning and some updating. 2) We were there for three days and not once did housekeeping come to clean, make our beds, or provide clean linens. We had to go to the front desk to get clean towels, washcloths, and even toilet paper. 3) During breakfast, one day, the woman taking care of everything kept the waffle/pancake mix on lockdown inside the room where they kept the food supplies. So, anyone who wanted pancakes or waffles had to go through her! Really! 4) There were no vending machines, to my knowledge, in the hotel. But, on a positive note, there were no bed bugs!

I booked Hawthorn Suites North Charleston, SC for July 11 to July 13, 2018 through Booking.com. The address is 7645 Northwoods Boulevard, North Charleston, SC 29406. The booking was for four adults and one toddler. I was sent a receipt for the transaction by booking.com and the property charged me more than the receipt and it was without any incidentals. The booking clearly mentioned that i would be given one king size bed and one queen bed to accommodate the people i was booking for. When i checked into the property, all i was given was a king size bed. Imagine a king size bed for five people!!. upon pressing the hotel staff said i cold use a roll out bed inside a sofa. When i got the keys to room 611 and checked in, the room was not even cleaned or sanitized. There were hair and oil everywhere on the table, bed and on the floor. The bathrooms floors had used napkins allover. Upon calling the reception they gave me Room 1013, which was even worse. When i pulled out the roll up bed from sofa, it had visible dark stains, there were no linen or comforter or blanket for four people. The bathroom floor had insects crawling. The bed had hair, the fitted sheet was not properly done, the pillows had somebody's cream/foundation stains. The picture I am attaching are from room 1013, which was supposed to be a cleaner one!!! Not to forget, two people were banging at our door at 1:00AM, and they had the key as well. Upon asking they said they were given the same room. When we told that this is already occupied they went away. i was amazed at how well this property is managed!!!!! I was dead tired of traveling and just crashed, in the morning went for breakfast and at 830AM the breakfast had nothing to eat but bread. Upon asking was told they ran out of everything. The breakfast hours are till 9 AM. When i tried speaking to Dave Vashi, the property manager, he was not in the office until 930AM and i had to leave for Savannah. The next day when at the time of check out i told him about all, his response was so casual that they are fixing everything!!! i am checking out s i dont care if you are fixing things now?? Not just that, when i got home and checked my credit card statement i was overcharged for the stay, an amount different than what booking.com receipt did show me. A horrible stay.

Probably the rudest staff I've ever interacted with. Three different staff members were incredibly brash and dismissive. They stand outside, in front of the hotel talking. Obviously not very well versed in customer service. If you require a refund you'll have to wait till a manager is on the premises, which apparently isn't everyday. Whole place smells like weed and mold.

So this place is behind some better hotels which you will see if you search the place. I had a room booked for months at a Marriott location next door but decided to use our points from Wyndham (mostly from the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh stays). I was horribly disappointed. The room was clean when we checked in but never was freshened. We came to find out that on a weekend you have to ask for it. Ok, so we just asked for fresh towels on Saturday (day2) and carried them to our room and requested service which we were promised would be done. We left for dinner and when we came back the whole hotel smelled like marijuana. Then on Sunday we drove to see the NASCAR race and got back at 1:30am. Our keys didn't work to the exterior doors and we buzzed the clerk. She let us in and didn't even check if we stayed there. When we got to our room it was never serviced. We walked to the front desk and there was no one there. We tried to call down using the 24 hour service button on the phone in our room but it did nothing, along with all the other service buttons. We called 0 as a last resort for clean towels and nothing. Finally we went to bed after showering with wet towels. At 3 am there was loud banging. At 3:30 there was loud banging again. I can tell you one thing, avoid this place at all costs. The walls are thin and it's a shame to call this a Wyndham property.

This hotel engages in the dishonest and fraudulent activity of charging for rooms when they cancelled the reservation due to the fact that they claimed that they had no rooms ten minutes prior to the arrival of my taxi. Although I had (and still have) the booking confirmation, they stated that they had no rooms and charged my credit card. How can they charge for a service which they did not provide. I will absolutely pursue the claim for a refund to the highest level of authority which exists for this establishment, including their parent company. It is unfortunate that this hotel engages in dishonest and fraudulent activities.

I really wish I could get my money back, honestly. I paid nearly $100 for a hotel that should have been $50 at the MOST. Now, in the hotel's defense, whoever made their website did an AMAZING JOB at deceit. The place looked great online. When I get there, it turns out to be more of like an Extended Stay, except not as nice. If I had known this, I would not have booked the hotel room. The whole place smelled like mold, the bathroom was odd and very poorly put together, the shower head was broken, and the bathtub was small and just kind of gross. The person next to us was yelling well into the night (we checked in close to midnight, they were screaming at somebody well past 1am), the refrigerator started making a weird tapping noise around 3am, that did not stop for hours, and then the person above started stomping around their room, close to 6am, did not stop until around 8am. Absolutely horrible experience, I wish I could get some of my money back. Pros: Decent bed, okay breakfast Cons: Bad smell, gross bathroom, half broken refrigerator, highly misleading online description/pictures, way over priced for the quality of the hotel, etc I wish I could leave less than one star. This place deserves a half star at the most. I do not recommend this place for anybody, especially not if you're looking for a nice hotel. I could have booked a nicer hotel at half the price.
