Hotel is being renovated - should really be shut. Elevators do not work - hot water intermittent- doors to outside propped open - etc

Wasn't great wasn't terrible. It is conveniently located near the IKEA. The bed is comfortable enough. Breakfast is not included and they want to charge you $15 a person for basically a continental style looking breakfast that's included in some hotels. The tile in our bathroom was coming up and the rooms are dated. The staff was friendly and you need a key to use the elevator. Fine for a night but would not stay more than that.

Dear IHG Hotels & Resorts My wife and I wanted to be sure the first thing we did when returning home was to reach out to your Corporate Office and General Manager. We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn. University City Blvd. Checking in on 11/17, for a Stargazing Music Festival hotel deal. Included will be a shuttle that will be running hourly and a 3PM Happy Hour Event in the Grand Ballroom. Reserve your special group rate (code "SRG"). Long story short, it was no fault on your hotel, as the promoter dropped the ball and there was no transportation to the event or happy hour. At this point we panicked as we booked VIP and expected to see someone with drinks in hand in the lobby. Your front desk staff were professional, courteous, and patient while I searched for emails, or a number to call making the check in line wait. Patricia was Managing the Front Desk, making calls to other locations to see if there was a mix-up and still handling her other duties like she was the captain. Patricia was calling around, checking in a large group, and answering the phones. Each interaction was kind, patient, and doing what it took to make that customer smile. We ended up sitting at one of the tables in the back, and Patricia was continuing to check in on us and her status updates. Finally, after the third update Patricia came and gave us two small drink tickets and said here let's take your mind off things and take a break. My wife and I really appreciated how Patricia took ownership to call around to different locations and still have the time to check in on us. Thank you, as we were able to finally collect our thoughts and calm down. There's more, once we headed to the bar we met Felice Hopkins, she will have you on the floor laughing. No matter who you are, why you are here, Felice is that person you can talk to, and she will remember your drink for next time. Felice gave us one of her famous drinks you need to name it after her before I do, that turned out to be the best part of our spoiled star gazing event. The time we were at the bar we did not have a care in world and had a good time. Then Felice turned on the lights, lol she was so proud and made everyone stop and watch. Thank you, Felice, for listening to us vent about the night we had planned, and still had something funny to say. We are coming back to stay just to run into these two again as that is how you take care of a customer. They value the customer and understand how to do an exceptional job. We ask if you can please be sure to truly recognize them for a job well done. By going the extra mile, being a professional, and caring, with everything they do. As my wife and I know starting in the service industry; a thank you acknowledgment is a turbo button for repetition. I can go on and on, and I am sure you already know you have a great team, take care of them.

I've stayed at a lot of Holiday Inns over the years. I'm an Elite member. The woman who checked me in was very friendly and very helpful. However, there were other staff members throughout the evening who did not provide the customer service that I expected. They weren't outright rude but they were less than Pleasant. I stopped at the front desk overnight and again in the morning. Neither person made eye contact, they didn't smile, I got very short answers. I was also not pleased with the cleanliness of the room. There was water damage on the ceiling in the shower that should be addressed. There was also dirt on the carpet that was obvious so it appears it probably was not vacuumed. I mentioned it's to one of the housekeepers and she stated that somebody would stop by however no one did. I mentioned it at the front desk and I was told there were no other rooms available.

Firstly, the hotel staff could not be nicer so that's the best part. The hotel is tolerable, but it's very dated and kind of just has an overall ick about it. The gym is pretty awful. It smells like it used to be a smoking room that they tried to cover up the smell, and it also smells like stale prune juice. The cable machine is broken - which is dangerous.

Nice room, clean, with a Keurig coffee machine. The restaurant breakfast buffet was varied and hot. An evening burger upon arrival also good. But it was a little weird, was not obvious it was open. Waitress great when I found her. The room crew had not cleaned my room by 1:30 which made after-lunch naps awkward. I had extreme difficulty twice communicating with the cleaning crew, even switching to my frightening California Spanish. They knew less English than any persons in a similar role that I have encountered before. No pool. No gym. Bar made a good gin and tonic.

I'll gladly pay the extra price to stay at a better hotel. My room smelled like smoke when I walked in and it was not stocked with any toiletries. I didn't notice until I was about yo get in the shower. I call down stairs to see if anybody could bring some soap up but the lady told me she was the only one at the desk and would do so when her coworker came back. 30 minutes passed. I got dressed and walked down stairs, they were all huddled up laughing. When I mentioned that I had called 30 minutes sgo and was waiting for the toiletries and she said she forgot. My friend that was staying in another room had the same problem. I highly don't recommend this hotel.

I'm giving 4 stars only because I think they should feed you breakfast with your room. Outside of that the staff is courteous, the premises are clean and the location is excellent for almost everything in Charlotte. We stopped in for a concert at the PNC, but have used it in the past for Ikea and other shopping. Close to a lot of good food from breakfast to dinner.

Stayed here on March 9, 2015. The staff was very friendly at check in and the outside is very neat and clean. The overall appearance is newer, and has been remodeled in the last 5 or so years. The area has many restaurants that are close which makes this an ideal spot.

Okay, so I was completely prepared for the worst when I got here, since the average review for this place was about 2 stars. My flight landed in the morning, and I called to see if checking in early would be an option. It wasn't. I should have a shot around 1:30pm, though. Okay, cool..I'll find something to do for 4 hours. So I drop in at 2:30pm--surely they have ONE clean non-smoking room ready, right?? No....they don't. I'm a little annoyed at this point, but the girl behind the desk can't really do anything about it, so I walk back to my car and sleep for an hour....then finally, success. There's a $20(?) deposit on the room that should be refunded in about a week. We'll see. If you've read my other reviews, I NEVER have great luck with these "deposits." About the room: -It's not new. But it's not old, either. -There's a tube tv circa 1999, no fridge OR microwave OR coffee machine. Those things you'll have to specifically request (for a fee!). -The walls? Terribly, terribly thin. I'm nervous about going to sleep tonight....and waking up in the morning. -Couple of hairs floating around the room. The bed, the lamp shade...and the shower wall was COVERED in them. Speaking of the bathroom... -Not cleaned. At all. Somebody's draws were on the door (I took a pic). The aforementioned hairs all over the shower wall. And there's no way in the world they could've cleaned that bathtub....it definitely hasn't seen any kind of cleaner in a while. The draws on the door were enough for me; I showered with a towel on the tub floor cuz I just didnt want to touch anything in there. You'd think as long as they took to get me a room here, the room would be sparkling! Now I'm starting to think all they did was make the bed, fold some towels, and move on. I really wanna just leave here and sleep somewhere else, but I already paid for the room. I'm mad at myself for going through Priceline...the cheaper rate I got is not worth the hassle this place has been. Don't do it.
