I have had the giant turkey hut on my list of places to hit in Charlotte since I found out they opened a location here late last year. I first experienced this stuffed turkey leg trend in Dallas a couple of years ago as part of their pop-up. The line we sat in to get turkey legs that morning was more than 2 miles long and took over an hour and a half to get through. So I was pretty stoked when I found out that there was a location here in Charlotte. We visited on a Saturday afternoon around 5 PM And initially passed the location and had to U-turn and go back. Just make sure you keep an eye out for the building as I initially thought it was an auto repair shop, but that is actually a business that shares the same parking lot. When we first pulled up, there was a bit of commotion as there seemed to be a person having a bit of a mental health episode, walking around erratically outside. However, the owner was actually sitting outside and immediately greeted us when we pulled up and welcomed us in. This is a very small location and sparsely decorated on the outside, but did have much better aesthetics in the interior. The menu is very straightforward with several options, including the turkey legs, turkey wings, salmon and chicken entrées. Both owners were very friendly and helpful as I made my decision on what to order and the food was ready in about 10 minutes. The legs are a little on the pricey side at $25 a pop but the portion size is definitely enough for two people. And the quality of the food is outstanding! Well seasoned, super tender, and super flavorful. I would describe this as a perfect blend between Texas soul food and Louisiana Creole. This is the kind of business I like to support because they are clearly focused on delivering great food and they are doing it right in the middle of the community. Go support them!

I have only ordered to go but I have enjoyed every order. My cheat day turned into a bad habit. Those eggrolls were good the next day even. The smoked turkey I loved alone and in the greens. even the shrimp and grits. Those are my got to but who I got it for Loved it. A new go to. So delish.

Checking out Jive Turkey Hut and ordered a stuffed Turkey Leg With Stuffed Cajun rice soaked in hot honey sauce (yes I know, the leg wasn't stuffed). I also ordered a side of collard greens The bad: the collard greens were nasty. The turkey meat in the greens was dried out a flavorless. The greens also had a sweet taste to them. (Say no to sugar in greens) The Cajun rice with the hot honey sauce was delicious. I made it better with a sprinkle of pepper. The Turkey lives up to the hype. Smoked, tender, easy to pull apart....all the boxes checked. At the door the staff was welcoming and cheerful! " come on in"!!! The menu was plentiful & full of great choices! I ordered a " soul leg"! Turkey leg w/collards & Mac & cheese! Absolutely delectable! The aroma alone drew me in!! The food arrived at the table in a huge loaf pan! Huge amount of food! 2 could enjoy it easily! Just the right amount of seasoning on everything! AWESOME, DELICIOUSNESS I have been waiting for this restaurant to open for some time . I did an abrupt U- turn just to go there when I realized they were now open. Service with a smile from ALLLL of them. So helpful and welcoming. I got 1 turkey leg, 1 turkey wing and side of collards to go but would have eaten there if not in a rush. I was comfortable while I waited. They have completely redone the inside. It's very nice. They even have a bar!!! It was sooooo good y'all! Served hot, falling off the bone, seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of stickiness...you know what I mean if you eat turkey legs or wings . i ordered from door dash. I cant speak for ambience or atmosphere but we're visiting from out of town. Based off reviews we were excited. We spent $79.09 and they gave us half the food. By the time we got the food from door dash and went to our rooms we noticed it wasnt a complete order. We ordered 2 turkey legs (which were good to taste), and turkey wings (which they only gave us all legs). We ordered 2 mac n cheeses, 2 dirty rices, and yams. The Mac n cheese never showed up (we were reimbursed via app). The dirty rice was not good at all. The yams were burnt.

This place is an automatic must try! The food is excellent! Everything is well seasoned! Very impressive! If you want comfort food this is the place! My parents wanted some turkey legs sooo bad and we stumbled on this place and I'm so happy we did!! The food came out fast and it was soooo fresh and delicious! The service was great! Great portion sizes and I love how they have a small bar in the place for when you're waiting on your food. Music selection was also great too! Highly recommend if you want some good soul food!!
