Me and my guest just wrapped up an incredible stay at Kimpton Tryon Park by IHG, and honestly this place blew us away. From the second we stepped in, we could tell this hotel was special. First Impressions & Vibe The design is sleek, modern, and full of character. Polished marble, warm lighting, art on the walls that sparks curiosity, and a lobby that makes you want to sit back with a cocktail and stay awhile. It's elegant but not pretentious the kind of place where luxury meets comfort. Room & Comfort Our room was beautiful: large windows with sweeping views of Charlotte, plush bedding, clean lines, and all the little touches (soft robes, great toiletries, reliable Wi-Fi) that made us feel cared for. We woke up feeling refreshed every morning. Location, Location, Location You're steps away from Uptown Charlotte's best restaurants, bars, green spaces. We could stroll to amazing dining, catch live music, explore art galleries, and still come back to the calm of our room. It's the perfect base for both adventure and relaxation. Our Highlights * We enjoyed fantastic dinners nearby every plate seemed like a work of art. * Nightlife was buzzing but never overwhelming; it felt vibrant, authentic Charlotte. * We had a small celebration (a birthday!) during our stay, and the staff went above and beyond to make it feel special little surprises and attentive service made all the difference. Why It's going in my Vlog-Worthy Kimpton Tryon Park blends that high-end hotel feel with genuine warmth. The kind of place that looks great on camera (that view! the architecture! those details!) and feels great in real life. You can do all the things explore the city, drink great coffee, walk through beautiful parks then come home to a space that feels like a retreat. Rating: 5 Stars If you're coming to Charlotte and want somewhere classy, central, and memorable this is it. We left already planning our return, because this place deserves more than just one visit!

Personally, I totally regret staying at this hotel and paying this amount for a hotel that did not give me"class" or "luxury"'experience. I was highly disappointed. This was my first time in Charlotte and I expected more. The photos and images really is not what you see. Once I arrived, I was not impressed. The hallways did not smell the best. In addition, there were two stains on the floor one by the chair and one by the bed. I am like how is this even possible. In addition, it is loud as well especially during the nighttime.

Pros: Great location, nicely decorated, super clean and comfy, nice staff. Cons: Nothing major- I don't like that there isn't any coffee in the room and wasn't told at check-in about the AM coffee station downstairs & I didn't realize that was an option until we were checking out. Restaurant, Angelines, is nice but since it the ONLY room service option and food option- that could tire easily. An alternate menu for room service would be a nice addition. Also, I am not usually one bothered by noise but it was pretty loud. Like I thought I left our balcony door open, loud. There were events at the stadium but so if noise is an issue for you, this might not be the spot. All that said, no deal breakers and the location was fantastic so I would still stay there again.

Our daughter was married this past weekend. The couple chose the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel in Charlotte as one of the two hotels to reserve guest rooms. The Kimpton was supposed to be the more elegant and higher-scale hotel of the two. Staying at the Kimpton was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. *No air conditioning *Broken shower *Huge parking fees, drink prices, and gift bag fees *Reservation problems *No early check-in-- though promised *Front-desk workers are not always at the actual front desk but overseas and make promises the hotel refuses to keep *Street Noise Problem One: NO Air Conditioning in 80-90 degree weather. Our room's air did not work well the first night. It was late when we checked in. We made do. The next night, the air didn't work at all. They brought us a fan that couldn't even stand up on its own. I had to prop it up with a luggage bag. The fan was useless. Problem Two: When someone was taking a shower the morning we left, the shower handle fell off when she tried to turn off the hot water. It was scalding. Problem Three: Parking was $30 every time the wedding party or guests left the building. Our family had three cars at the hotel--transporting decorations, dresses and tuxes, shoes--everything. My husband and I had to drive our two cars all the way home after the wedding and then head back to the hotel at 2:00 am to save some on parking fees. We still had to pay $220. Problem Four: My daughter and I spent hours making gift bags for the guests. We had to pay the Kimpton $5 a bag to have the bags given out to guests at check-in. The hotel RIGHT across the street (that costs much less AND has a pool), the Courtyard Charlotte City Center, charged NOTHING for the bags. Problem Five: We initially reserved three nights at the hotel thinking we might need an additional night before the wedding. I was told if I cancelled the reservations by September 18, there would be no charge. I cancelled on the 18th. We were charged anyway. The manger told us that the person we spoke to on the phone wasn't actually a front-desk worker at the hotel (even though she told us she was) and couldn't make that promise to us. (The person who made my reservation was outside the U.S.) The manager eventually told us that he would reimburse us as "a favor." However, we haven't seen the reimbursement yet--though the $900 room charge (and the $5 Sprite charge) went through immediately. Problem Six: The same person who booked our reservations told us that the families of the bride and groom would be allowed to check in at 11:00 instead of at 3:00. The week of the wedding, I called the hotel again to make sure of the check-in time. I was told that I must have misunderstood the representative. (I had not.) No one would be allowed to check-in early. There was a rare chance that no one would use the room the night before. We could call that morning to see if the room was already empty. We had told our guests that the rooms would be available at 11:00. When we called that morning, we were informed again that we would have to wait until 3:00. Problem Seven: A wedding guest said the street noise was so loud that she couldn't sleep. When she called the front desk, they initially told her they would bring a noise machine. However, she later learned the hotel had given out all the noise machines they had.

I love Kimpton hotels, they are all so cute and unique and always have a happy hour for guests. This one is right in the heart of downtown Charlotte - perfect location for sightseeing, everything and anything in walking distance. The staff was incredible, as an IGH member we received an upgrade to a room with a view of the park that was incredible (regretting not taking a picture). We had a great view of the fireworks after the baseball game! Our room was lovely and very clean. We only stayed one night so can't speak to housekeeping but the entire hotel was immaculate. There was restaurant attached to the hotel and on the weekends seemed to be the place to be because the lobby was full when we got back in the evening. We didn't join the party because - well we're old but what I appreciated was you needed to use your key card to enter the elevator making sure non-guests roamed the halls. Initially the parking was a bit confusing but we located the garage. We didn't notice the valet service until we made our way to the lobby but that ended up being ok since we didn't need our car during our stay. To keep the review balanced I'd say it was a little noisier than I had expected, we were on the 9th floor and could still hear traffic. All in all it was a great experience.

Following my weekend in Charlotte, I feel compelled to express how polite and down to earth all of the staff was during our visit. Not only did the valet greet us with smiles and laughs, but the front desk staff were more than happy to let us store a bike in our room for the evening. I would suggest this spot to anyone staying in Charlotte and wish I could've spent more time at the rooftop bar!

I have stayed at the Kimpton twice now and always enjoyed my stay. It's in close proximity to bars and restaurants not to mention Merchant and Trade rooftop is in the hotel. You also have the restaurant Angeline's near the lobby. If you order room service the food will come from there. Overall this is one of my favorite hotels to stay as a staycation in Charlotte! Here for a wedding reception. Beautiful hotel and the location is in the hub of all the attractions. As we waited for the wedding party, I observed the artwork of various artist in the area. The staff working the reception were professional and nice. The hors d'oeuvres - deviled eggs, steamed shrimp, steak kobobs were delicious. The main course - grilled chicken breast, steak, salmon, mashed and sweet potatoes were delicious. Seasoned to perfection. Nice hotel for receptions, meetings, showers, etc.

Fantastic hotel. The service was excellent starting with the complimentary wine and beer after checking in. The room was very nice, great view, comfortable bed, good lighting, nice bathroom layout, plenty of storage. In a city in dire need to good hotels downtown and nearby this is a fantastic addition. Well done!

A Harrowing Experience of Racial Profiling and Discrimination, Wrongful escalation to police for requesting a refund- Beware Staying Here if You Are a Person of Color Date of Stay: August 2025 I am writing this review with a heavy heart and a sense of duty to warn other travelers, particularly people of color, about the deeply disturbing and discriminatory treatment my family and I endured at this hotel. What should have been a celebratory trip turned into a traumatic event due to the actions of the IHG/Kimpton management and staff. The issues began while attempting to gain priority access to Merchant and Trade Restaurant. We were paying guests and greeted with palpable coldness and suspicion, a stark contrast to the warm welcome offered to white guests granted ahead of us. Our request to gain access to the bar and restaurant scrutinized excessively. The company stated they were at capacity and allowed other Caucasian guest entry without incident. After lengthy wait, we weee denied access for no reason but the color of our skin. The situation escalated dramatically and minutes later, the hotel manager appeared and, without any further provocation or a reasonable conversation, accused us of being "disruptive" and threatened to have us removed. The most shocking and humiliating moment came when, after we asserted that we were being unfairly targeted, the manager stated they were "calling the police to handle the situation." We were not being loud, we were not breaking any rules; we were simply existing as a group of people of color in a public space. The police arrived, and we were forced to endure the shame of being questioned in the middle of the lobby while other guests stared. The officers, to their credit, quickly assessed that there was no issue and left. However, the damage was done. The hotel management had weaponized the police against us for no reason other than their own apparent bias. We cut our trip short and checked out immediately. Subsequent complaints to IHG corporate have been met with generic, template responses, lack of real accountability and denial of racial profiling, discrimination, and wrongful police escalation causing severe emotional distress. Final Warning: This was not an isolated case of poor service and discrimination allegations; this was a clear case of racial discrimination and the dangerous, wrongful escalation to law enforcement. This hotel company and its management have created a culture and environment that is hostile and unsafe for guests of color. I would not recommend this property to anyone, but I feel a profound responsibility to specifically caution Black and Brown travelers. Your money, your safety, and your dignity are not secure here. Spend your hard-earned money at an establishment that values all guests equally. We have no choice but to proceed with an adversarial approach. The company did not honor the refund request until I submitted a complaint to the CEO 11 days later. We spent of $186 dollars in Uber fees and they refused to compensate us those fees.
