very different and highly authentic Thai restaurant. The chicken fried rice and the curry are amazin. Oh and a must is the homemade tea!!!!!!! Very nice place to eat!!

Mem's Thai Kitchen is a welcomed addition to the Thai food scene in Charlotte. Unlike many Thai restaurants, the flavors are unapologetically Thai. No, you won't find tastes that are catered to the American palate. Flavors are subtle and light. Truthfully, I prefer my Thai food a bit more salty and sweet, but this is how my mom would make it. "Not too sweet or salty". I ordered the Pad Thai and Spicy Thai Basil Shrimp. The Pad Thai was the favorite between the two. I love the addition of fried tofu and that I received a side of peanuts, pepper flakes and a lime wedge. Flavors are light and not very salty. It has a subtle sweetness and its not over powering. I personally think it could be saltier and could have used another slice of lime. Although the price is a bit more than other places, the portion is generous. The Spicy Thai Basil Shrimp was a bit underwhelming. The picture of the shrimp on the menu is piled high, but what we got was less shrimp than the pic. Still not complaining because by the time you finish, it's more than enough. The shrimp was a bit bland and all of the sauce was soaked up by the rice. The basil flavor cuts through the dish and provides a nice aroma. Just wish that the shrimp provided more flavor. Next time: Save yourself some time and order online. If you choose to order "in-store", you'll do so on a tablet on the wall. If you are picking up, scan the check in QR code and enter your info so that they know you're there. When I went there were a good amount of people and it did get quite crowded. Would love to see more Thai dishes added to the menu and adjust the flavors to be bolder! 3.5/5 and I will give them another shot!
