This is the lunch spot my bestie and I hit up when we don't have much time but need to be together catch up and grab just good basic food. We pretty much split everything. Our go to is either a good ole cheeseburger or a chicken salad sandwich. Neither ever disappoint. Great fries. Always hot and fresh. Best dipped in mayo. Just a classic deli. Good food- quick service. Give it a try!

Aesthetic: Old school 80's deli with an array of sandwiches, soups, and salads. My favorite: Grilled Tuna Steak Sandwich. Experience: This is a no frills, step back in time deli that has a strong 80's vibe. I don't know that it has been updated since the 80's, it feels old. The sandwiches are classic, fresh, and good. It gets busy during lunch, I think they've retained all the customers since the 80's. I love their tuna steak sandwich because it's fresh and not too salty. It is best with a sauce added, since it's a bit dry without one. The bun tastes healthy in the best way. The burger is also classic and hearty. I'd highly recommend Rusty's if you're in the area and looking for a solid sandwich for lunch.

I was a loyal Rusty's customer since it opened, but no more. The new owners have ruined it and it's pretty obvious it's all in the name of savings pennies and trying to be quicker, but certainly not better. For starters, Rusty's had large napkins and logoed drinking cups. Those are gone, and these little things were the obvious 'tells' that someone new was running it. Ok, let's get to the food. French fry portions cut in half, perhaps. And my favorite, the French Dip used to be far better than the fancy sit down restaurant in the same center. No more. Instead of toasting the sandwich, giving the bread a little crunch, they now microwave it to death. Last night was the last straw. I had a terrible French Dip a month ago and felt it was microwaved, but cast it away as a one-off. I ordered the French Dip. It came and to my amazement it was so over microwaved and utterly scalding to the touch that I had to wait at least 5 minutes to taste it. It wasn't worth tasting. We all know what happens to bread in the microwave. This was the death of a sub roll. It was so over the top bad and mushy. The roast beef was still medium rare. The fries were as good as they were for years, just maybe half the portion. I overheard the table next to me saying, "What happened to the fries? This is half what I expected.". So, with these many changes in my face, I asked last night if the ownership had changed. The answer was an abrupt, matter of fact 'Yes'. It was so blatantly obvious to me, as someone who went to Rusty's almost weekly for years, seeing Pete at the helm and a trained staff that knew the menu. This staff knew nothing of the menu, even with a printed menu board right there at the cash register. I won't be going back. To the new owners, you took a fun, decent grill concept and ruined it. I'm pretty sure you think cutting the napkins, and drinking cups wouldn't be noticed, that this savings was a good idea. It's not. The terrible microwaving has probably ruined not just the French Dip but many other items. The old Rusty's would have never microwaved the French Dip. You bought the restaurant for a reason, and need to realize these 'little things' and 'microwaving' matter. And now, you're just a no-good deli. The new Rusty's won't thrive like this.

I stopped in for lunch, and WOW, SO packed! From the crowd size, my expectations grew. I remember enjoying their Cheesesteak Sub from WAY back...but for one reason or another, I haven't been back for a long time. So I ordered their Cheesesteak and Fries again. Again, my expectations were huge...given my nostalgic memory and the crowd size. Unfortunately, the foods didn't quite meet it. The Cheesesteak Sub was good...but a bit short from great. Maybe it's just me and my Asian taste buds, but the sub just tasted too bland. I poured a ton of hot sauce, yet still, Meh. It was the right amount of greasy...not dry, but not too much (which I really don't care for!). The Fries, however, were solid. I'm not a huge fan of fries anymore either...but these were really good versions. I've been craving a good Cheesesteak, so I'm glad I revisited...and am glad they're still doing good business. I'm also not a huge fan of hand-helds, but my 2 boys are...so I may return with them sometime in the future.

This is one of the best burgers in Charlotte in my opinion! It's an old school joint that has been around since the 80s and they serve up delicious sandwiches along with burgers and classic deli sides including a delicious potato salad. They are low-key and located in a shopping center so they might be easy to miss, but please do yourself a favor and stop in for some simple but delicious food along with the charm of a family run neighborhood deli.

I've been eating at Rusty's for over 30 years. It's always been good, until today. Do not order the chicken Philly sandwich. I was served some sort of pressed chicken patty? Typically, a chicken Philly had grilled chicken that's cut up. I had no idea that mystery chicken patties were even available. Stick to their burger

First time at Rusty's, and boy have I been missing out. My late grandpa used to always talk about this place, and now I know why. They have a broad range of menu items, and they have weekday specials. This place can get busy but the tables are first come, first serve and they turn fast. There won't be a long wait unless you see it out of the door. The South Charlotte cheesesteak with beef and mushrooms added was phenomenal. I'd say top two of the ones I have had in Charlotte. The bread is definitely wasn't made it. Crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside. The Reuben was delicious too - sooo cheesy. The burgers were large and flavorful, with plenty of bacon on it. What a great staple of a deli!

This is a really nice out-of-the-way burger joint and has a reputation of having the best french fries in Charlotte. I tried the grilled chicken sandwich and my dad got the mushroom and Swiss burger. Both of them were cooked perfectly were juicy and had a great taste. The staff was very very friendly and accommodating. The food was made while we waited which was only about seven or eight minutes.

Went for the first time Saturday and it definitely won't be my last. I got the Ruben and was so happy with my selection. The bread was buttery and toasted perfectly, the flavorful meat and BEAUTIFULLY melted cheese made for a perfect cheese pull. I went around 1pm in a Saturday and the service was so quick and kind. I also tried a bite of cheesesteak as well as bacon cheeseburger- both fantastic. Next try? One of the loaded potatoes. I'll be back soon!

One of the things I miss about living in upstate NY is the Delis. The meats seem fresher, and the sandwiches taste better. This deli was recommended to me, and it did not disappoint. Being able to create my own sandwich made it easy to sele t what I want I stead of relying on the menu. The croissant was soft and delicious. I will definitely be back here when im in the Charlotte area.
