We received this Groupon for two tickets to the Dinner Theater as a gift. Selected the 3/22/19 date at Rock Bottom Brewery in Charlotte NC. Everything was a HUGE disappointment - the show and food - similar to other reviews on YELP. There were 8 tables of 6 in a very tight private room. Although the salad was served early, the main course didn't arrive until the end of the show and my wife's pasta only came after several complaints. The food was miserable, small portioned and cold. We have eaten at Rock Bottom many times before and cannot fathom why they would serve this 'ale chicken' garbage in their restaurant. There were two drink servers and only one food server. This company knows the drill and perform here monthly so I cannot understand the complete failure to make sure their guests are satisfied, or even care for that matter. There was supposed to be a desert, though only saw a few tables get it. Oh, and the show. Well, I thought "interactive" meant that we would ask questions or work with folks at our table. No. Instead myself along with 8 or 9 others were handed binders with instructions on our characters. Extremely disorganized and confusing. There were two periods where everyone was instructed to walk around and bribe others for clues. Most people just walked out to the bar to get their drinks or went to the bathroom. I suspect that these were supposed to be the periods between meal courses, which never got served until the end. The Mystery remains unsolved as to why these guys are still in business!

I recently saw the Charlotte, NC group perform a show in Wake Forest (if you can call it a performance) and it was a very long and drawn out four hours. I have been to other professional murder mysteries and I was excited to hear there would be a show in Wake Forest. But I didn't realize the poor quality and execution of this company. I would not call this group of for professional as they just guided the improv from the ticket holders. The 25 or so suspects were just the audience and that was a lot of people to keep track of and try to remember who was who. Not everyone is good at improv so having the show based on audience participation is just a recipe for disaster. There were four cast members but one of them "Howie" didn't do anything in the show besides take photos of the other three. This performance was more like one of those Murder Mystery boxes you can buy to have a party at your house with friends. It was missing the storyline development by the cast. The cast needed to take the lead and be the show. Most of the night had the audience mingling with the other audience members to share clues. There were two sessions of the mingling which just dragged on this show. Lots of the audience left early and I wanted to as well but I hoped it would get better but it never did. At the end they give out some awards to the audience members who participated. Then they pick a winning table. I'm not sure how that was determined as my table had the same suspect and reasoning and it was not acknowledged as figuring it out. I am sure other tables figured it out as well. I would not recommend this company at all and would look for a better option if you enjoy murder mysteries.

I bought tickets on Groupon and was extremely excited to attend. The Murder Mystery Company itself was extremely cheesey. Some guests that attended were given roles and they didn't all play the part as well as one could hope. It was difficult to interview people as it wasn't as obvious who people were. I felt the costumes and setting implied that this was all an act and not worth the effort of a real wedding. The restaurant where it was held, Beauregaurds, was another disappointment. The food was editable but completely lacked any kind of flavor what so ever. All and all this was a complete let down.

We purchased tickets for this show at Blackfinn uptown. Performance was super fun, but the food was terrible! I've never eaten at Blackfinn, so I don't know if this is their standard fare. I wish they would give you the choice of either a meal or equivalent in drinks. We had a great time with the performance and really enjoyed that part of the night

We received a Groupon gift for two to attend the 30's based murder mystery dinner which took place at Rock Bottom. I upgraded to premium seating so paid an additional $20. Do NOT waste your money on premium seating or the groupon to attend this event! Starting with the food and service - terrible. Expect your dinner to be served to you cold and with no salt and pepper available on the table. The smallest dinner salad in the world is served first with your choice of congealed balsamic or ranch. On to the main course - the Ale Chicken - supposedly a specialty at Rock Bottom - was bland and uninspired. The mushy broccoli with absolutely no seasoning was served cold. Dessert was a decent brownie though the top of it was extremely hard. The party room at Rock Bottom was incredibly hot (at least 10 - 15 degrees warmer than the rest of the restaurant) and we were told the temperature could not be adjusted because "the controls were offsite". They brought in a floor fan but it offered little relief. The three actors who performed throughout the show were barely mediocre. The sound system was hard to hear at points because one actor mumbled a bit while another (who literally forgot their lines in the middle of everything and was unable to improv at all) shrieked and caused the sound system to have feedback which was unpleasant on one's ears. The photos we received for free because of the premium seating upgrade were dark and uncentered. I would be hard pressed to come up with any redeeming value to the experience. I had visited a dinner theatre in Orlando several years ago and that experience was great fun so it is possible to do these events well just not at The Murder Mystery Company in Charlotte.

I hired this company to come to my home in South Carolina to do a Murder Mystery Party for 20 people. Our actor, Luis Medina, was fabulous! He made sure that everyone was included in solving the mystery and was absolutely hilarious. He mingled with guests afterwards and posed for pictures and stayed after the time he was paid for. Our guests all had a blast and said they can't wait for us to do another one. We will definitely be hosting another one soon!

Performance was fun, if VERY cheesy and predictable. Characters were over the top goofy, but committed to the role. My date and I had a good time, and I might go again for the Groupon price that I got, but not for full price. The food at Beauregard's was acceptable, but just barely. I realize that the Murder Mystery Company has no control over the quality of the food, just sharing for those that are wondering. Full disclosure: after attending, The Murder Mystery Company emailed me asking me to write a Yelp review, and they'd give me tickets for $20/person for a future performance. I don't normally Yelp, and probably wouldn't have written this review without the incentive. That said, this is an honest review, and I wouldn't change it even for free tickets.

Murder Mystery Review (previously reviewed under Beauregard's): My date and I had discount tickets to Beauregard's Murder Mystery performance. For the price (even after the discount) I expected it to be much more entertaining than it was. This was my first time to Beauregard's, but not my first time to a dinner theater-type performance. The food: We were served a house salad (no choice of dressing) choice of: prime rib, chicken pasta, or baked ziti. My date and I had the prime rib and baked ziti, which wasn't that great (for $29 a plate) also, it was cold by the time it was served. Others at our table had the chicken pasta, which looked better than our entree choices. A compliment: the beer and wine prices were reasonable at 3.95 a glass for wine. The show: I had been to one of these shows once before, and it was excellent, therefore I have something to compare it to. In comparison, the murder mystery show was amateurish. It is very much an "improv group." It looked as if maybe they had trouble filling some spots, and rounded up some High School theater students. The restaurant was packed, and for the price paid, I expected more. More could have been done with the set/costumes, audience etc. Definitely do not pay full price for this show, I'm sure there are other dinner shows out there.

We bought a Groupon for this while on vacation in Charlotte. But still was about $70 for 2 people. The one we went to was hosted at Rock Bottom Brewery. It was a total waste of money. It was totally disorganized and cramped. You could barely hear or see anything and the show relied WAY too much on other guests. It was a mess. We didn't get any drinks other than water even after we ordered. Then the food didn't come until 30 minutes before the whole show should have ended and was disgusting. It was cold and crappy. The entire thing was a disorganized mess and waste of money. Very disappointing time.

The venue was way too small. People were crammed in. When it was time for us to get up and ask questions there was no room to do this. Also plot line confusing and at least 20 suspects, way too many. Impossible to solve. The show started at 7 and they were allowing people in at 740. Salad was served around 730 then we had to wait for all the late arrivals to eat. Main course brought out after 8. Don't expect apps bread or desert. We stayed until 850. It was suppose to end at 9. No desert and they still hadn't announced who it was. Very poorly done.
