The hotel was easy to find in a perfect location, close enough to downtown but away from all of its traffic. Overall is a clean hotel, just minimal amenities and slow service. Check-in is at 3 o'clock. We arrived at 5:15 only to be asked if we could wait for a room because they weren't any cleaned. I don't mind a few minutes, but you would think that because of the delay, they would offer me a bottle of water or something. That didn't happen. The room was a nice size. It was clean although it was boutique style. I still need some place to unpack my clothes. Would I recommend this hotel? Yeah if you need a place to stay at a reasonable price clean and fairly decently decorated. But you might do better for slightly a few dollars more in the same area.

Want sleep??? Don't stay here! Rooms all have floors, so people are banging all night. Front desk guy was nice. Breakfast was powdered eggs, sausage, bagels. Air conditioner worked well, beds not so comfy either. Very disappointed for over 200.00 a night. Glad I'm leaving this morning. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but embassay suites across the street had one. Room wasn't cleaned very well. One inch of thick dust on the lightbulb and lamp. Won't be back sadly.

We left, voluntarily and went and got a room at another hotel up the road - because I had a concern and the night guy tried to pick a fight with me. There was a problem (at 10:40 PM) disturbing guests on the upper floors - I asked the manager if he can call the cops and he said (because the group of people shooting off the fireworks, going up and exploding {which it's illegal, even from the street} I said weren't technically on the property) - "No, but YOU can call them if you feel like it." .. I said "You don't have anything to say about it? They're disturbing YOUR GUESTS" {He was about 8 feet away from me at this point} ... He walked up IN MY SPACE and said "You need to CALM DOWN" ... A really odd request, as you're getting up in a man's grill. So the problem is he's just dumb. -- The previous 2 days, btw, he's not even at the desk - He sits in the back corner, at a table. If somebody comes downstairs and just peers over, it looks like nobody's working because the front desk is empty. That's no accident, on his part. ... While it may seem like we were there around the 4th, otherwise we wouldn't have had a problem if you have ANY problem, and you're not, well ... his type of people - he's just gonna give you attitude .. is what I can tell you. What a ridiculous hotel, that employs a guy like that. 0 stars.

THE TRAVELER Whether for business or pleasure, you can enjoy a stress-free stay at this hotel in the Charlotte area. I wasn't keen on leaving my wife & 19mo son behind in Chicago, but work summoned me to the Tar Heel State in late February. Tru (a Hilton property) is in Ayrsley, a suburb about 20 minutes south of CLT (Charlotte Douglas Int'l Airport). It's tucked away in a small community, somewhat hidden from I-485. They had a fairly decent continental breakfast from 6am-9am: pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage patties (one day it was links), juices, English muffins, cereal, and fruit. The front desk is actually a circle in the middle of the lobby, an odd arrangement. Staff were friendly enough. I found the bed very comfortable. The room was a little small, but I didn't need much space. TV worked fine. I loved that the soap / shampoo / conditioner dispensers in the bathroom were wall-mounted squeeze tubes--this was an efficient, hygienic solution that more hotels should begin to incorporate. Check-in and check-out were quick. There were a group of younger teens shooting billiards in the lobby every night, which I found a little strange, as I did not get the impression they were guests of the hotel. Alas there was no swimming pool to take a dip in, just a gym I knew I'd never use (me? Workout?? That's a good one!) * TL;DR * As hotels go, Tru by Hilton is definitely on the leaner side. Rates were $112/night, pretty reasonable considering I booked the week prior. I didn't encounter any issues during my three nights (my boss, however, locked himself out of his room. I assume the concierge eventually bailed him out). Breakfast is included, and it's better than average. While it's a far cry from the Embassy Suites, I'd still recommend this hotel for solo travelers or those who don't mind a no-frills stay.

This was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever encountered when I come to charlotte for work. Very clean, updated, no nasty hotel carpeting, no bugs, the bed and pillows were excellent. I wish I could have slept longer! The room was very very clean as well as the bedding. I really liked the design & arrangement of the furniture and the hooks on the wall. Everything works in the room.

Rooms were clean, and both beds were queen sized. Breakfast in the morning was adequate fie being included with the room rate. Did not hear street noise nor people in other rooms. Located closer to a few restaurants, so it was nice to walk to dinner instead of looking for a parking spot. Less than 15 minutes from Carowinds.

4 minutes ago on Google This hotel is a joke! I booked my room a month ago. We drive three hours to Charlotte to be told that they cannot check us in because the system is down. I get that there are things that happen, but there needs to be a back up or better plan for these situations. We had to leave and find another hotel and it was not easy, as most places were full. This was supposed to be a fun weekend for my mom's birthday. This really threw a wrench in it and there were some tears shed. I will NEVER book at a Hilton again.

Nice hotel convenient to highway. It's in a little area with a few restaurants and apartments. Looks very cute little area tho just stopping on drive to Ohio so no time to explore, it was quiet outside which was nice. The lobby has a fun vibe with seating, TVs, pool table. They have a decent gym as well. Rooms are minimal and not terribly large but it does exactly what I need for one night. Not sure if want to stay for more than 2-3 nights tho as room doesn't have much free space at all. Breakfast is included and they do allow dogs!!

If you like the minimalist Tru experience this hotel may be for you. The location is good, close to restaurants and other amenities. However, our experience wasn't great. After we unpacked we noticed that the TV didn't work in our room, and then we realized when we went to call the front desk to tell them, that the rooms do not have phones. When I looked up the hotel online, the only number they list is for reservations and is automated and unfriendly! No local access to the front desk. So I walked to the front desk and interrupted the employee who was busy on his phone. He said they couldn't do anything till the next day or I could repack my things and change rooms. Not a fan of this hotel.
