I was shopping and wanted to grab a bite for lunch. I debated trying this place because I wanted to sit down and have a drink. They had tacos and margaritas, so I figured I'd give it a try. It's café-style, which isn't my favorite setup, but I must say the staff was wonderful--friendly and helpful with ordering. The kitchen was busy, but the food came out quickly. I went to grab a seat outside with my hands full--water and a margarita--and an employee asked if I'd like him to bring the food out to me. Well, yes if you don't mind! It was so nice to enjoy the fall weather, people-watch, and eat my tacos. I loved the shrimp taco, but the salmon one was a little spicy for me. The salmon itself was delicious though. The queso was yummy. I did stay away from the cake, but it was tempting to try. It was fun listening to them call customers' names to pick up their orders, but someone also came out to check on tables and make sure everyone was okay. He addressed me by name--the same guy who took my order and walked my food out--then later checked on me again. Great place!

I didn't like it. I like plain tacos. Just normal tacos. Beef lettuce cheese, maybe some sour cream? Yeah, that's it. That said, for people that like gourmet tacos, they have an excellent selection. All my coworkers rave about this place so I have to assume it's just me. Ordering is easy, plenty of seating, and in a great location. Again, I'd have to say this place is just not for me. But it's like me going to a hardware store and complaining that they don't have pizza. They're doing what they do and they do it well.

Awesome spot in South End for a fast casual dinner. Taco combo is 2 tacos and a side and is VERY filling. Tacos are not miniature and full of flavor. Super friendly staff helped me with recommendations. Ate inside. Perfect Friday night.

We love tacos! Heard a lot of things about this place and couldn't wait to check it out. It's so pretty and vibrant inside. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were nice and talkative. The menu is simple and we ordered their 2 for $25 meal. It included two bowls, chips and cheese and a slice of red velvet cake. We enjoyed our food! The bowl was fresh, tasty and the portion was large. The cake was huge and so darn good! We will definitely return to try more items off their menu.

This is similar to Agave & Rye, but Velvet Taco is more of a fast food format instead of a restaurant/bar style as Agave & Rye. Agave & Rye has a full bar while Velvet Taco has a limited alcohol menu. I had the WTF, peach & burrata, Mexi-Cali shrimp, grilled salmon, and fish n' chips. All of them were well seasoned and delicious. They were loaded with ingredients and tasted pretty fresh. This area is hard to find parking, but this location has a small parking lot beside it. But it's probably paid parking.

Absolutely delicious! I circled this place a few times in my recents trips to Charlotte but the line discouraged me to go. Now I know why there's a line! I had the paneer taco and the tofu taco. Absolutely delicious! I loved the atmosphere both inside and out. The Paloma I had was also delicious. This would definitely be in my rotation if I lived in the Charlotte area.

We used to love this place. But recently, its gone severely down hill. I mean just look at these photos - it looks like an overgrown, abandoned facility!! If a restaurant doesn't have the pride to take care of their exterior, just imagine what they are doing behind the scenes with food prep. Its a shame and an eye sore really!

Enjoyed my first time at Velvet taco! It is in a nice location right around the corner from apartments and bars. Each of us got the "Say What! Combo" which is a good combo deal. Two tacos, a drink and a side? Yes please. I tried the Korean fried rice and spicy tikka chicken tacos, side of elote, and free chips and queso (if you download the app for the first time). I'm not a huge queso fan but this one here has a nice kick to it.
