This Ray Lay is located in Alley 51 that's connected to the G Mart. I came here during my lunch break craving some noodles. I can't go wrong with Thai, so decided to dine here. I honestly was in a tad bit of a rush and a little under the weather, so wasn't expecting them to make my food fresh. However, they did which took about 20 minutes, but it was worth wait! I ordered the drunken noodles and added chicken with Thai hot spice (cause I'm a spice girl!) The noodles were piping hot and soooo good! The cashier was helpful, but not friendly; however, I didn't let that deter my experience. I would probably be back.

Service was very disappointing. After I placed my order and was about to pay, a staff member came over, printed the receipt, and asked for a signature. In my haste, I accidentally picked up all the papers, and he repeated himself in a louder tone. I calmly told him there was no need to raise his voice. He then responded, quite unfriendly, that he hadn't raised his voice. When I said he was being rude and that I wanted to cancel my order, he replied that he didn't need rude customers. The interaction left me very upset. I chose to take my business elsewhere. I do not recommend this place--staff can be disrespectful and unprofessional.

While visiting Alley 51, I wanted to get a little bit of everything. I was waiting for my corn dogs at Mochinut and decided to order a Pad Thai and Thai Iced Tea from Rai Lay. The service was unfriendly and unwelcoming. Everything is automated, you order at a kiosk and you get a text that your order is ready. Every introvert's dream, right? My order was to-go and I had to ask for a bag. I got an eye roll. I'm not even joking, I didn't get a greeting, my name called when the order was ready, no thank you...NOTHING. The only interaction I received was an eye roll for asking for a bag. HOLY SMOKES, I will not be coming back because of that. Yea, I know that they're teens working the front but man, hospitality has gone out the window these days. Anyways. I can tell if a place will be good or not based on their Pad Thai. This wasn't it. It wasn't very flavorful unless I squeezed the quarter-sized lime they gave me over the noodles (oh, and it was much better the next day, reheated). I'm glad I didn't order anything else from Rai Lay. The Thai Iced Tea was decent, though. However, I paid $26.45 (including tip) for mediocre service and food. Save your money and go somewhere where they'll appreciate your business and have better Pad Thai.

We recognize that this is a food court adjacent to the Big G grocery, so was not as excellent as the wonderful hawker stands of Singapore, but being close to an Asian-centric grocery should have been good. Ummm...a three star, at best, at least for this first time experience. We are familiar with Thailand and their food, so wife had a Panang curry ($15.95) and I had Kao Soy Shrimp ($17.95) and two sodas at $2.95 each. for the total of $43.71 we could have been in a nice restaurant with table service. Wife thought the Panang curry, which we have had far better at Bahn Thai in Ballantyne, was blah. My Kao Soy shrimp, likewise was blah and though it had six nice sized shrimp in it, the flavorless soup and noodles did nothing to help. This food court is loaded with many vendors, so look around. We would not return to Rai Lay Thai Express.

I HAVE to do this because I feel that eating here left me feeling SO scammed. First of all, I have tried Rai Lay at the South Boulevard location, and liked it (not quite loved, but enough to merit 4 stars?)...so I expected the foods here to be of the same caliber, or at least close to? Well, I got their Pad See Ew with Chicken and Thai Iced Tea...and at first I was surprised to realize it costed over 18 bucks. Yes, 18 bucks for a fast-food version of Pad See Ew Chicken and Thai Iced Tea (served in plastic wares-cups)! Then when I realized how ridiculously bad they both tasted (as in totally bland and flavorless!), I felt utterly scammed. BTW, by looking at pictures from other Yelpers, it seems clear to me that the foods here tend to be bland...like VERY bland. If you don't like spicy, maybe this is the place for you. Still, that somewhat defies the logic of Thai food...as in full on flavor and spiciness should be a given? So I had to pass on the word. Maybe it was an off day?? Whatever the case, I still got scammed lol. I will NEVER go to that vendor (let alone that restaurant) ever again. Here's a hint...If you go to Thai House just a few blocks down the street, you'll get a much tastier, higher quality version of same items PLUS Spring Roll AND Soup for the same price (or possibly even less - Lunch Specials)!

We wanted to check out Alley 51 and finally went on Father's Day. My husband is a fan of Pad Thai so we ended up at Rai Lay Thai. Staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. My husband got his chicken pad Thai and ate it up quickly. I got Pad See Ew with beef. There was a good amount of meat, veggies and noodles. It was savory and comforting - a hug in a bowl. I ate all mine in one sitting. I just added a little of black pepper. We got a side of plain jasmine rice for our little one. It was nice and fluffy. We would come back and check out their other locations.

I had some extra time before an appointment, so I decided to check out Super G Mart Food Court. There were so many different options, but decided to be simple and try Rai Lay. The staff was friendly and helped me choose what I wanted. I ordered the House Fried Rice with Chicken and Spring Rolls. The food was pretty amazing and fresh. They give you 4 Spring Rolls with a Thai Chili sauce and they were pretty good also. There were a lot of people trying out different spots but it was a great vibe. I had no issue finding somewhere to eat. I would recommend this spot and to try other restaurants within the facility!

The PLAINEST fried rice I have eaten in my life. You can just tell the color. It had flavor to it (assuming for msg) so it didn't taste bland but idk who decided throwing on some chicken, onions and spring onions would make this into a fried rice. Very disappointing.

I found my meal here to lack in flavor. The plate was pushed out quickly but I've had way better pad Thai in CLT. The food was good, but i thought it could have been better

I was at Alley 51 and thought I would give this place a try since it was not busy. I tried two of my favorite Thai dishes: the pan won sen and Tom kha. However, what I received was a flavorless dumbed down version of each. The Tom kha soup was so sweet it was sickening. It was virtually straight up coconut milk. No lemongrass. No fish sauce. No spice. Not even lime. I had little hope for the stir fry. It was barely flavored with soy. I asked friends if they agreed and I was judging too harsh. They agreed. I ended up salvaging the dish by bringing it home and adding a bunch of stuff to it like ginger and chilis and oyster sauce. Same with the soup- I hate wasting food.
