The Carolina Hurricanes (AKA the Canes) are a professional ice hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as part of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference, and play their home games at PNC Arena. Everyone that knows me knows I'm a big fan of hockey. I tend to favor teams that represent a state where I've lived. The other favorite teams are the ones where I have family or friends that are from that state. It's all about the game and the competition. I've got a lot of hockey t-shirts from different teams. Recently I received two of the stuffed mascot dolls. They're so cute I would collect them all if I had the space. At one time the team was in Hartford Connecticut. Another place I have strong ties. If you want more information about the team and its history it's all online. I'm a fan!

Been to a lot of NHL stadiums for games, Carolina is definitely below average. Stadium is built with just parking lots around it, so limited pre game atmosphere (except for some tailgating if you want to drive). Food and drink options are uninspired. Stadium atmosphere is sterile. Prices for tickets on the cheaper side for NHL games so relatively affordable. Not a stadium I would go out of my way to go back to.

Excluding the Carolina Hurricanes' history as the Hartford Whalers, this franchise has done A-OK. At the time of writing this review, the Canes' all-time points percentage since moving to Raleigh in 1997 is 0.528. Again, if you don't take the Whalers' history into account, that points percentage would put Carolina in the top half of the league, all time. The Whalers, who were a member of the NHL from 1979 to 1997, had an abysmal points percentage of 0.438 over 1,420 games. It's one of the worst points percentage by an NHL franchise in a single location, "topped" only by the old Detroit Cougars (0.435), Colorado Rockies (0.325), and Kansas City Scouts (0.241). Yikes. Of the four franchises, the Whalers were the only team to play more than 500 games, kind of cementing their "legacy" in this regard. The Canes, on the other hand, they won the Stanley Cup in 2006, less than 10 years after moving from Connecticut to North Carolina. Twenty of the league's 31 active teams have won at least one Stanley Cup (64.5%) and 14 have won at least two Cups (45.2%). The Canes had a surprisingly successful season in 2005-06. Players on that lone championship team who have had their jersey numbers retired by the Canes include Glen Wesley (No. 2) and Rod Brind'Amour (No. 17). Wesley actually played for the Whalers for three seasons before the team moved. He's the only player to have suited up for the Canes in each of the franchise's first 10 seasons in Carolina. Brind'Amour was the captain of that title-winning team. Both Wesley and Brind'Amour were also on Carolina's 2002 Stanley Cup Finals team that lost to the Detroit Red Wings, 4-1. To date, 2002 and 2006 are the team's only appearances in the Finals. Cam Ward won the Conn Smythe Trophy (Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP) in 2006. Unlike Wesley and Brind'Amour, Ward was drafted by the Canes. He was selected 25th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Brind'Amour is now head coach of the team. He signed a three-year contract with Carolina in 2018. It reportedly paid him about $600,000 per season, which made him one of the lowest-paid head coaches in the NHL at the time. He more than proved his worth because he became the first Canes head coach to lead the team to the postseason in all three of his first three seasons.

Not a huge hockey fan, but after my recent visit to the Carolina Hurricanes with my husband- I might just become one! First off, kudos to the Hurricanes for making all fans in attendance wear a mask & take a health screening beforehand! It definitely eases the anxiety of some fans who may not be ready to enter large crowds again just yet. It may not be accurate if some fans are not truthful in the health screening, but at least the Hurricanes have a process set up to consider their fans' safety. Make sure if you are attending you fill out the health screening form for everyone in your party BEFORE entering the gate. They will make you show it for proof and if it is not done you will need to step off to the side to fill it out. Upon entering the stadium we found our seats and then grabbed some beers & food! We were able to find some special beer that is brewed just for the stadium & I believe they were only $4 or $5 a piece, for a tall boy!! That's pretty good for a stadium! We also had to get Chick-fil-A while there, obviously. Surprisingly the Chick-fil-A sandwich price wasn't too elevated either- a relatively cheaper night than we expected. Although we sat in the nose bleeds, we had a great time & the atmosphere rocked! Parking wasn't a nightmare & we were able to find some relatively close to the arena. If you ever find yourself visiting Raleigh, it's worth a go!

My wife and I attended our first NHL Game for the Hurricanes. I have to say I appreciated the friendly and professional interactions with everyone we came in contact with from the merchandise store to the concession stand, but especially the ushers. In a world where it seems like a majority of workers hate their jobs and rude the staff at the arena were a welcomed exception . We'll definitely be back.

I called looking to get season ticket for me and my wife, I have been going to games for 2+ years and just buying them online. I got through the entire process and at the end, they refused to sell me season tickets because the date that my email was created wasn't long enough for them. Keep in mind I have had this email for 3+ years. I was told to call back next year and try again. This ticket office staff and supervisors are an absolute joke. I would recommend going online to get tickets even if you have to pay more just to avoid having to talk to the most incompetent group of employees you have ever met.

Although I've been Yelping mainly for dining venues, I haven't (nor could you) sample ALL of the HUGE options at PNC Arena when coming to watch the Hurricanes (or any other event!) So for the sheer number of options here, one can't go wrong. However, at least 1 star off for the outrageous prices. Of course, most folks realize this whether you come to see a professional sports team or go to the movies! I will say that what I've sampled is pretty good. We've enjoyed the craft beers on tap (I don't even look at Big Company Beers. That's not beer - it's a mixture of chemicals that simulate beer! Ha ha, said with humor, because I know a lot of people will just go crazy when I diss Bud, Miller, and the usual suspects. But if you like it, save a buck by drinking them.) But I digress... Parking is tough, like any event stadium. But I've been to many arenas and stadiums around the US in bigger cities. Same problems with congestion, prices, and quality, if not more. So, relax, budget your money, and enjoy one of your favorite events at PNC. In particular, we like the 'Canes. They brought some good things to Raleigh and we're lucky to have them in our small market!!

I was a season ticket holder for years. This is my final year. As they have reduced the benefits for the smaller packages, they have made it clear they don't need long distance fans anymore. I emailed my ticket rep to try to work things out but he has ignored me. Let's go Islanders!

Excellent experience!!!! The wife and kids and I finally went to a game and all I can say is WOW. Very exciting!!! We all had a blast and and can not wait to go back . Everyone there is so cool and friendly. Not one bad interaction with any of the staff or vendors . The seats are a little cramped but there's not a bad view in the house . I highly recommend checking out a hockey game . My nine year old daughter was on the edge of her seat entirely enthralled in the action . We are totally hooked for life !!!!
